I remember you had one on greasing the drive shaft and others. Please post those back again, they have been a life saver for me. Thanks

    4 mins into the video, and I already like your teaching style. I just bought a 2003 800. It has sat for a year and a half, and it is crackling and poppping. I am pulling the carb to clean, doing the valve adjustments, and one more thing to check.... the kickstand switch. A buddy had a backfire, and shut off issue, after cleaning his carbs and all the stuff he did, turned out to be that switch. I doubt its my problem, but maybe this will help someone.

      Sounds you are on the right track. One other thing to try is put a new air filter in it. Working on my cousin's mower it would backfire and shut down. Found I take the air filter out and it ran fine. Put new air filter in it ran great. I had cleaned the filter, it's a paper one, that did not help. Norman.

    Que gran vídeo. Que gran trabajo. Muy didáctico, la mejor explicación respecto al ajuste de válvulas que he visto. Me ha sido de gran ayuda,. Ya ajusté las válvulas en mi Intruder en el pasado, aún así me ha sido de gran ayuda para aprender nuevas cosas, como por ejemplo las herramientas que te has fabricado, sobre todo para el cilindro delantero, y sobre como ajustar las válvulas únicamente girando el empujador, sin galgas. Muchas Felicidades por tu gran trabajo y aportación.

      2001himax Are there multiple marks for front/rear timing? Like, one for exhaust and one for intake? How do I know which stroke the cylinder is on based on the 'FT' marking?

    • @2001himax
      @2001himax  6 років тому

      Hi Jason, There are two marks, one F/T that is front top dead center and R/T that is rear top dead center. Turn the flywheel counter clockwise but as you do this put a dowel rod down the sparkplug hole in the front cylinder and have a helper lightly hold the dowel. You watch in the timing hole for the F/T mark. Your helper will see the dowel will go up or down. If it comes up as you get to the F/T then the piston in on the compression stroke, All four valves in the front cylinder will be closed and you now can adjust all the valves and the front is done. If your helper said the dowel went down when you got to the F/T mark turn the flywheel one full turn and stop at the F/T mark. The dowel should come up and the piston will be at the top. Once done put the dowel in the rear cylinder an do the same. Hope this helps. Both cylinders have four valves. All four in the front cylinder are set at the same time on the F/T. All four valves are set in the rear cylinder on the R/T mark at the same time. If you still have trouble e-mail me at paulymax@comcast.net . Norman

    My c50 ran great then started a slight skip that became worse and sounded like running on one cylinder. I did everything changed plugs had injectors clean professionally changed filter n sock on fuel pump. Ran some sea foam in gas just letting bike set. No fix so I took the bike to a pro he repeated everything I had done again no fix but seems to run slightly worse he said needs valve job or replacement he said engine will have to be removed? Now the bike exhaust gets cherry glow in about one minute or so . I'm at a loss ? Any suggestions appreciated will and adjustment fix or does bike need value replacement? Thanks for any suggestions

    • @2001himax
      @2001himax  Рік тому

      I have found it is best to never put anything in the gas like Seafoam or gas stabilizer. Nothing. These bikes seam to do worse than better when an additive is used. That also goes for the coolant too. Coolant should be flushed and replaced as shone in the workbook for these bikes. You really have a problem that a dealer needs to look at it. If the motor needs to come out you can save some money by taking the motor out and taking it to them. On the other hand if they do it then they will do the work and then they can run the bike to make sure all is well. What ever you decide to do do not run the bike at this time. It would be hard to find the problem without having the bike to find the problem. Sorry I can't help you more. Norman.

    I replied to the JPaige comment twice but it did not show up . anyway,,,,go into Google and there are many posts about JPaige method of adjusting tappets...basically, its 1/8 turn off the valve for intake and 1/4 turn off the valve for exhaust....both these should be .oo4 and .008 , check with feeler .

    Thanks for video, I adjusted my C50 by screw method, the values did not had any clearance and after adjusting it became very noisy!
    Is it normal or anybody have the same experience??
    I adjusted exhaust at 90 degrees and intake at 45 degrees (highest clearance)
    No loose of power and no backfire.
    Engine starts very easy.
    Suzuki boulevard c50 2005.

    • @2001himax
      @2001himax  2 роки тому

      You did not adjust them right ! You must have clearance when you are done adjusting them. I am adjusting for thousandths of an inch not degrees. You must understand this to adjust them right. Do not run the bike till they are adjusted to the right clearance. First make sure you are on the proper mark on the flywheel for the valve you are setting. Then loosen the lock nuts on the adjuster for both of the two valves. Unscrew both adjusters. Now the two fingers that push down on the valves will have clearance. You can pull it up and down and see they have play. Take one adjuster, and use your fingers, turn it down till you lightly touch it on the valve. You are now at zero clearance. Say you are on the intake valve , look at the square stick you are using to adjust the valve. Now turn the valve out 1/8 turn. Now you are at .003 clearance. You need to be .003 to .005 so turn it a little more. It is better to be closer to .005 than to be right on .003
