@@ugogatto and isn't worth it, heavily dated drivers that are being kicked to the curb by anyone cursed with working with it. Mainly thinking of the blender foundation dropping OPENCL from its supported GPU apis. Fuck AMD's terrible driver history, i'm going midrange nvidia for good lol
Enjoying the $370 6700XT I picked up a couple weeks ago, and it's good to see a card called "pointless" when it launched going for $100 below MSRP and making 1440p gaming relatively affordable. Especially with my $200 upgrade to a 5800X and a $230 170hz 1440p monitor. Far more affordable upgrade and my whole rig is more than twice as fast as it used to be.
About 2 months ago I picked up an Asrock 6700xt used for 200$. Was from a computer shop that had it returned when a customer wanted to upgrade. So far its been great. No problems, perfect condition etc. There are still deals out there like this you just have to look around and be creative
I think using old benchmarks puts AMD at a big disadvantage. Their drivers have made huge performance gains recently. The 6000 series cards are all a great value compared to nvidia
@@sacredflesh got my 6950XT for $789 and it came with uncharted legacy of thieves which was something I didn’t even know about until I bought it. I do wish I had gotten the Callisto protocol though, I saw a trailer for it and it looks sweet
@@krellin My first ever build was and Ryzen 9 5900x and Evga 3090 in a o11D XL. I switched from an intel i7 10th , 3060 gaming laptop. I never used AMD before and I’m very satisfied with the outcome.
These prices are still insanely volatile. Immediately after the BF and CM sales, prices shot way up on a lot of cards. A 6900 XT I've been watching hang around the $650-700 range for months shot up to $900, where it's been holding, and I saw similar all over the place. You pretty much have to watch daily if you want to snag something at a decent price, because one day it might be, the next it'll be crazy again.
That is price gouging, you can find pretty good prices if you look newly listed items. There are business that monitor marketplaces by the second to buy a resale those items. So that's why no one can really find good deals as before.
Most video cards have spiked over a month now. I bought a Zotac RTX 3060 ($331 + taxes + free shipping) and the temps were steady at 60 degrees playing Destiny 2. Then yesterday temps started to spike to the 80s and so don't believe that's normal. I plan on buying an Asus AMD 6700 xt since they have double ball bearings and read they have better cooling.
Everything should be heading lower over time. maybe it goes up briefly but its all significantly lower than it was a year ago. Anything new might have some bs pricing too, better to wait and keep watching like u say
RX6600 is still the one-man band in the budget category. Without it we'd be totally screwed in that category with ancient Nvidia cards available as the only other options.
In the $200-300 range Steve, there was only one choice. The 6700 10GB for $299 (Sapphire Pulse). You're an entire class above the competition in the category with this card. 👍
@@kingplunger1 Makes ZERO SENSE as the 6600 is a class above in the $100-200 category at 190USD. Who wants to pay to go up into another class of card? 🤦 Same thing applies, 6700 IS in 200-300 category with the model being the Sapphire Pulse, one of the best on the market...because who wants to pay more and be in a higher tier for the same product. 🤔
Some 6600/6650 XT for $200 today new. So that has got to be the clear winner today for anyone looking for a good budget gaming card. There were also 6700s for $300. The 6600 non XT were as low as $170 with games!!!
I snagged that card plus a 40% off AMD Ryzen 7 5800x CPU on Amazon. Holy shit fat 5+ year difference between new and old parts, huuuge upgrade for cheap, less than a new console lol
My buddy and I both recently purchased RTX 3080 10GB models for ~$450 second hand. Mine is an MSI ventus and his is a EVGA card. But regardless, second hand cards are really cheap right now, and if you put in $30 of thermal pads and paste and some elbow grease, they’re good as new if not better
I got the Strix 3070 RTX for $400~ last week and I'm very happy with it. It had over a year of warranty when I got it. Still had the box and all accessories, even the ruler keychain.
I'm surprised you didn't cover the RX 6700 non-XT which is $299 new on Newegg right now. Only about 10% less performance (compared to the XT model) for significantly less price
I think the 6800 is often a bit too close to the price of the 6800 xt which poses better value. That being said, in the UK I managed to get a really good deal for a new 6800 for £460, should arrive between 26th and 30th November
I’ve been rocking an MSI 6800 (non xt), for nearly 2 years. Cost me £800 😅 but runs everything maxed out at 1440p and basically never goes over 65c in an ITX case, paired with a 5800x3d. Great card.
A 3060Ti was around 740 usd and a 3070 was around 880 usd They had the 6900XT marked down to 800 usd (prices are USD equivalent from my local currency)
I figured out Nvidia's strategy they already turned the 90 card in the 30 series into a titan in terms of price, 40 series did it with the 80 card, 50 series they're just going to keep going (this is a joke, but knowing nvidia, it wouldn't surprise me if the problem gets worse again)
For 50 Series, FaRTX 5050 will be priced at $699, 5060 at $799, 5070 at $999, 5080 at $1499 and 5090 will cost you a limb, your dignity, and your firstborn must be sacrificed in the name of Jensen!
Their strategy is we didn't sell out on our last gen 30 series so we will charge an arm and a leg for 40 series. This will make people think the 30 series is a good deal. If AMD or Intel can compete, we will adjust prices. The problem is, they cannot compete. Even if AMD was faster, Nvidia has DLSS and Ray Tracing. Those techs are very useful. Until actual competition arrives, expect this behavior. Because you will buy their cards anyway.
I went with a 6700xt over a 6750xt since a lot of people were saying they were just OC cards. Same core count/memory. You can get a 6700xt for $325 and a 6750XT $390 on Newegg right now.
I just rebuilt my PC and replaced everything except the GPU. I have a 2070 Super and it does just fine. I am glad that I didn't need to replace it yet. I am sort of holding out hope that the competition kicks up and we see better priced cards next year when I will want to look at replacing it. But I won't hold my breath.
I found a Red Devil 6950xt on sale for $689 brand new. Upgrading from a 1080ti, I thought this was an awesome move, especially having a 5900x. Hopefully prices keep normalizing, these are promising!
I just picked up a rx 6700xt and a Ryzen 7 5800x with Dead Island 2, The Calisto Protocol, and Uncharted collection for $600 combined this past week. A helluva deal imo.
I scored a high-end model MSI Gaming Z Trio 6800XT for $523 after tax, which seemed like a pretty phenomenal deal. Replacing a 2070 Super for 1440p 170hz. Right now with current prices, I just don't see how you justify buying Nvidia at any price point. The only exceptions might be the 3060ti if you can get it below $400, and the 3070 at below $500... and I guess the 4090 at $1600 (though all of them are currently $2100+ which is *LAUGHABLE* ). The AMD price/performance is just so, so much better than Nvidia at this point in time. 6600 > 3050, 6650XT > 3060, 6750 XT > 3060ti/3070, 6800XT >>> 3080, and 6950XT >>> 3090/3090ti. The pricing on Nvidia's side just doesn't make sense. Period.
Managed to get a 6700 10gb (not XT) for 400 euros, in my country all nvidia GPUS are at least 100 euros more than that. Coming from a 1060 6gb it's an incredible jump in perfomance, on my 1080p monitor I can crank everything to ultra and get rock solid 60fps just fine. Also I upgraded the cpu to AMD too, so I can squeeze that extra more performance with SAM. Really happy with my new rig, this channel has been incredibly helpful too.
Really appreciate all the work you do. This is helpful not just for pricing, but comparing performance across brands and models. It’s not always easy to keep track of which Radeon card = which Nvidia card.
I like that you guys went out and bought two obviously brand new never used pitchforks with pristine pricetag/barcodes for a cheap gag. I love it. I'm also one of those occasional viewers that comes back every 4-5 years when they're thinking about a new build. Still rocking my gtx970 and 4690k.
@@McBeaks93 Yep, can forsee myself doing the same thing. In my country say a 6700XT (0-10% slower than a 3070) cost about 200 dollars less than a 3070...its silly with Nvidia now. I have a friend who bought a 6600, and before had AMD gpu, and he says no problems with drivers etc.
Just want to say Ive been seeing 6600XTs for 200 bucks used from reputable sellers, going to be honest i don't think there is any better (consistent) deal in today's market.
I bought my 1660 super in late 2020 for 220€, the price since has skyrocketed and now is basically the same as 2/3 years ago. Old cards don't fall down in price
At the peak of the GPU shortage/prices, the missus asked about gaming on a PC I built her a couple years prior. I had originally built it as a basic web browsing/productivity system, but it has 16G DDR4 and a reasonably fast AMD Ryzen 3 processor. Because prices were so steep even in the used market I tossed in the cheapest card I could find, which was a GTX1030 I ended up paying ~$180 for at the time (My backside still hurts from that one) A few months ago the kid had asked about making a YT channel for gaming. I knew I'd need to upgrade both their systems and found some eVGA RTX 2070 cards on closeout (refurbs direct from eVGA). Worked out to about $200 each after taxes and shipping just a little over a year later. Considering their systems are only 1080p it's more than enough to get quality clips out of. They're also a heck of a lot better than the 760 & 1030 they had before (That 1030 performed worse than the 760 which I've had for close to a decade) GPU prices coming down is about danged time. Too bad the YT channel fell flat because the kid hated doing video editing :-D
That's because GTX 1030 is not a thing. GT 1030 is, but it's not *the* gaming line-up. Pretty much anything from the GTX line-up is a step above GT. GT just barely beats integrated graphics (I don't think they do anymore with the latest gen CPUs).
Scored a 3080 FTW3 for ~540 last month. I was browsing Micro Center's site in the wee hours of the morning when they listed new inventory. I think they had to have made a mistake, because this is the price of a decent 3070. Oh well, they honored the reservation. Worked out for me. Hopefully I won't have to test if EVGA will honor the full warranty.
Hows ur card holding up bud?, I got a 2nd hand msi gaming z trio rtx 3080 for 470 recently upgrading entire system, in the box like new, 2 years warranty still left. Bought from a gamer, not a miner. I was using a historic gtx 960. This 3080 is a total beast & super happy with it. Wont be looking at upgrading again anytime soon.
I picked up a 6800xt at 515$. Felt like a really good deal. I’ve been rocking a 1060 for 5 or so years so I imagine it will be quite an upgrade. Looking forward to it getting delivered.
if you're an international purchaser don't bother buying from here, I bought the coasters and after almost 2 weeks of waiting it was finally shipped even thought it was in stock, then they used a company that charged me the tariff (understandable and I am ok with that) but also a 200%+ border crossing fee mark up on top of that, and end of the day it was an addition of over 25% of the cost on the original order, and when I contacted GN about this it took a week to respond with the most patronizing message about what tariffs are by just copying and pasting a message in some newegg level customer service. Congratulations on this to everyone at GN for leaving me with a very bitter taste in my mouth about the service received from start to end.
Looks like the scalping is back! I decided to upgrade my kids and myself for xmas this year! Thank god i decided to buy early and local used via facebook. I was able to pick up a 3060ti FTW3, 3070ti FTW3 and 3080 FTW3 10G all perfectly working with boxes and orig acc for $1325 total on all 3! 2 days later... The prices on pcpartpicker shot back up $200-$400 OR more on some models. The Evga FTW3 3080 Ultra 10G is listed over $1300 yet again. The FTW3 3070ti is back over $850. Nvidia's outrageous 4080 price is driving the price of the 30 series back to the moon... P.S. Thanks Steve!
Interesting. A year ago I picked up an amd 6800xt (since at the time it was cheaper than the respective nvidia card, and in stock) and honestly it's been absolutely good-enough. Probably will last me until 2025 at least. Anecdotally, haven't had any problems with drivers so far.
AMD has gotten its drivers into a good state. They were bad back in the RX 480 and RX 580 era, and a bit for Vega, but got patched up and have been fairly reliable ever since. The 6800 XT is a great card. Strong for a few years at least.
I still see people going on about amd drivers for some reason. My last 2 cards have been amd and have only had 1 driver issue in 4 years, which oddly enough was when I plugged a new monitor in. Reinstalled them and haven't had an issue since.
@@chriscalliss5999 The only game I have ever had issues with my 6800xt on with is Classic wow, the drivers crash like crazy on that game. Everything else its been no more or less reliable than any Nvidia card I have had.
There should be some kind of dynamic/responsive chart, where you could just type in the price at which you could get a card. (It varies a lot, depeding on where you live and when you buy.) Then you would be easily able to see which card has the best price/performance-ratio and is the best deal. 🙂
I would love this too, even though I know it's such a massive project. I end up digging through 10+ GN videos (thankfully they're all extremely well timestamped) to get a spreadsheet going with notes, and then dig through retailers to match up pricing to performance to squeeze the most out of the budget. The problem is that the metrics for optimizations are on a bunch of different axes, like different kinds of compute performances, thermals, noise-to-thermal ratios, price, and features... and then there's the qualities that don't have benchmarked numbers, like looks and ease of use. Designing a table that can fit all of that in, and then maintaining that with new ways to test stuff, would be a massive project.
You could made it for yourself in Google docs. Fill in fps, add some formulas to make a price/perf and here you go. I did it for myself like in 20 minutes, very helpful for me and friend looking for an upgrade
My July 2017 purchase of the 1050Ti for $145 is still looking like a great value I see. The price has gone up $15 in 5 years! So much for Moor's Law being alive. I have a funny feeling my October 2022 4090 purchase will look about the same in years to come.
We're still getting screwed over in the UK, I don't understand why. There's enough stock now, so it must be entirely down to greed. RX 6700XT is £430/$520 RX 6800 is £550/$665 And the RTX3080s are still £700/$850.
With how wildly prices are changing I just keep deciding not to bother buying a new card. To be honest my RX 580 still does all I need it to do, especially since it is an 8gb one. I bought an R9 Nano as a card for collecting/fun, but any new cards I can't seem to bite the bullet. lol
I picked up an “open box” AsRock RX6900xt phantom from my local micro center recently for $602. Literally half of what they were going for. It has been working flawlessly and I got a top tier upgrade for a great deal WITH a 60 day return policy
I can't believe they were so scarce that I eventually bit & got a pretty well done asus pre-built with a 3080. compared to the recent increase of today, I pretty much got a bargain then & now. The only bad thing about that mobo was that their z490 was not gen 4 proof like the other makers. 😂😂😂😂
I'm definitely that viewer that doesn't check in year-round to see the latest GPU releases/rankings. Videos like this are VERY helpful to folks like me when we're looking to upgrade/replace.
Loving that i got my asus 6700xt new for 360 last month. Then upgraded the cpu to a 5600 for 100 more. Best part, i made a build with the parts i replaced, and sold that pc. So I pretty much upgraded my pc for free.
Sadly card-prices are much more expensive in Europe overall. This is only for the US. But anyway, I went with 6700 XT for my new PC which I found on sale here for 420 Euro. I was going for the 6800 first, but I thought, meh.. might as well get this for a lot cheaper and then upgrade later since the new series are coming out :D
@crylune Well, considering that it's supposed to be $999 pre-tax MSRP, it will definitely be in the neighborhood of 1400 Euro for the higher-end models with VAT included.
Thank you so much for this video! I'm the guy that only builds a PC every 5 years or so you referred to in the video, actually closer to 12 years. The last GPU I bought was a GTX 260 and I had a lot to catch up on. I love your content, reminds me a lot of the OG [H]ardOCP days. Thanks for all the great information and solid tech content to get me up to speed, just wish you had a public Discord.
I recently looked for a sub-200$ card for a build I'm doing and I was shocked to find how little you still get for that kind of money compared to when I bought my 1050Ti back in the day. Then I went on Ebay and the world seemed fine again, great deals to be had on the used market, competent gaming GPUs like the 1060 or 1660 can be had for an apple and an egg.
2 weeks back i bought less than 1 year old ex-mining 3060 ti for $270. repaste and repad now it's performing super fine. asked the seller to conduct some stress test before purchasing.
The 6950XT at ~$800 (I got mine for $789.99 from micro center) is an item I was surprised wasn’t listed as a viable option. 200+ fps in MWII at 4k with FSR is nothing to sneeze at for that price point
@@agustinvelasquez6406 I’m a pixel peeping nerd and have shot/edited video for almost a decade. Even with FSR turned to performance, it’s genuinely hard for me to see any loss in quality besides some aliasing (that isn’t much of a problem with the higher quality settings) in a fast paced game like COD. Just my $0.02
Does anyone here own a Gigabyte 3080 10GB Turbo? Got one used for 500$ and thought it was a good deal. The card however runs incredibly hot and shuts off during Doom Eternal and Cyberpunk in 4K everything maxed out. Until then everything runs perfectly. Need to repaste and repad but cannot for the life of me find thermal pads or don’t know which one to use. Have been scouring the internet and youtube for a week now. Added insult to injury I live in Japan and these pads are hard to come buy..😭
Would highly recommend looking at used options as well. Can only speak of my purchases, but I had great success buying locally. Bought a 3070 (albeit mined) for $300 CAD, so around $220 usd. Crazy.
Got a used 6800 (non xt) Gigabyte OC edition for $290 in a local used market . its been working well for last 2 months. I have seen very little content on this card but I feel its like a unicorn where its closer to 6800 xt vs 6700 xt. I don't think I will want to update for years now unless i find a deal like this again for new generation
Solid breakdown. I think AMD can price however they want and perform however they want and it won't really affect Nvidia pricing too much. Current pricing makes older gen AMD cards automatic winners in pretty much every match up if all you value is rasterization, but there is no demand for them, and so AMD prices keep falling towards cost to buy for the retailer, which I think would be $150 at the lowest end on something like the 6600. So I'd think the floor for that card would be maybe $175. For 6900s I'd assume $500 buy in (it's usually around half of whatever the MSRP is outside of the initial launch/ROI window), so maybe 550-600 at lowest. And so on down the line is where I think the prices will settle, just a bit above what the retailer originally paid so they don't look like complete idiots on the ledgers.
One might want to pay extra attention to the particular SKU being used when buying a 6900 XT, as the XTXH silicon are the better binned chips that clock higher, and run more electrically and thermally efficient. Sapphire and Powercolor are the top dogs when it comes to Radeon GPUs. Lastly, while Asus repurposes most of their stuff and spends little effort when making high-end GPUs for both parties, they're still a reliable board manufacturer and make excellent GPUs. Also, they occasionally make banger products like their 3080 and 6900 XT LC GPUs, but this just further reinforces my point that they muster the absolute lowest effort required to differentiate their products because they (mostly) just work. XFX is also a well-endorsed brand, recognised among Radeon users due to their easier going procedures and helpful customer services for the RMA and repair needs.
I managed to snag a 3060Ti FE from nvidia's european store for 430 bucks tax included two months ago, the DLSS2 uplift was noticeable, coming from a 980Ti. Overclocked and undervolted it, it now perform within 7% of a stock 3070. Not too shabby!
Just bought a 1660 Super, brand new (I live in Argentina, it's crazy hard to be able to afford a good GPU) and couldn't be more happy about it. For 1080p gaming and editing, it's everything I could possibly need.
This was a great roundup review for GPU's Steve, I look forward to these each year! I actually picked up a used RX 570 last month on ebay for $63, like new in excellent condition; It works great for my light gaming needs at 1080p. It's a huge upgrade from my 13 year old HD 5870 haha! Your 'Warning Signs for used GPUs video' you did last year, helped me find a really good used card. I hope you're doin good Steve! :)
I got the 5800x3d and 6750xt from AMD for about $840 with the discount about two months ago. I play Elite Dangerous, Valheim, Stray everything plays great. Thought about waiting on new video cards but decided to not wait and start gaming.
I only found out the non XT version existed the other day, was able to snag one for $480 CDN ($360 US) but considering the 3060 starts at $500 and the TI version nearly $650 I'm pretty happy with my find. Cheapest RX 6700 XT I could find in stores was $630 although New Egg had a few for about $520.
In the 300-400 price range, the RX 6700 (non XT) will generally provide better value than the RX 6650 XT. It uses 16 PCIe lanes compared to the 6650 XT which uses 8, and has 10GB of memory on a 160-bit bus which will improve performance at higher resolutions like 1440p and sometimes 4K with FSR. I bought one recently for $329 which is lower than the 6650 XT while still performing better than it.
this, got mine XFX 6700 for lot more ( europe lol, 400e) and manage to missed the free games about a week as well, still think its amazing value/performance/watt, my old radeon 480 got higher temp, may even higher TDP? oficially xfx 6700 card got 220 TDP, my card never go higher than 175W tho
@@Trisstan20 europe here aswell. it s like it s 2 different universes. the prices from US don t match with the ones from europe at all. why same card is 100$ smth more here then from us. in 100$ you could buy another gpu, a low end one. wtf man
Do you know if theres any bottleneck in using a 6700 or xt model in an x370 motherboard? I have a 1700x cpu and gtx 1080 gpu and wondering if its time for a soft upgrade. Not sure if upgrading the cpu is worth though.
@@1Starben Not sure about the 1700X but I'm not seeing any bottlenecks with a R5 3600 on a B350 motherboard. I think you can keep the same motherboard and just upgrade to a 5600 or something if you do notice any bottlenecks. P. S. I have SAM working on the B350 so you won't need a newer motherboard to take advantage of that.
@@Trisstan20 I followed a guide from Ancient Gameplays on UA-cam for overclocking and undervolting the RX 6700 and you can get a little more performance with a significant drop in power draw. Mine draws around 135W on peak load while offering about 10-15% better performance. I've got the Sapphire Pulse version so ymmv.
There's also RX 6700 10GB 160 bit from Sapphire and XFX. Supposedly, these cards were sold directly to mining companies, but since mining crashed, they showed up in shops.
I feel like I faired well in the great GPU price war of 2022 and came out ahead with a pretty nice value-focused gaming build. In April I went with an i5 12500 w/ DDR4 3600 in a B660 board. I wanted an H0 6 core chip, I passed on the E-cores and DDR5. I held out on a GPU until the end of July when I picked up a Gigabyte Gaming OC 3080 12gb for $729, the all-time lowest price to date. This was actually the model I wanted. Not only did it go well with my build and barely fit with 1cm to spare (Jonsbo V8) but it also only requires 2x 8pins (my PSU only has 2) and comes with a 4 year warranty. I know it's not the most popular or sought after model but that 4 year warranty was a big deal to me. It also has a decent VRM, not S-tier but a step up from reference with an extra phase. The heatsink is more than adequate as it is the same they use on their 3080ti and 3090, fans are quiet, nice backplate, dual bios fail safe. I have no complaints.
I got a RX 6700 XT for $379.99 by Asus all day. Bought 2. They go well with an i5-12400 with integrated graphics. 32gbs ram, perfect 14440p and even some 60fps 4k, not great RT no DLSS, but RT is pretty much a scam for most gamers, was able to get a baller case, semi modular psu by EVGA and it costed me $875 for a monster budget compared to performance. Had cyberpunk at 4k with 60fps locked in.
I worded that poorly. It's not a scam. For graphic design it can be massive in terms of application, just not for gaming. Most games don't support it. It uses a massive amount of resources for extremely low returns, and greatly diminished overall performance. Like Linus and crew says constantly on LTT. And it's become Nvidias big selling point for their insanely overpriced GPUs. I'm very anti Nvidia these days, as is everyone I know. But yes technically, RT is not a scam and works well in certain applications.
I wish you would have reviewed the amd refreshed. They are generally better than the first launches. Based on whats available here, unless you want ray tracing really bad, i suggest go for the amd card that fits your budget. 6650xt is well priced! 6700 xt is not much more expensive. My favorite part of gpus this year is when my RX590 died and I had to buy a new one and over payed $1100 for a 3070ti which is a stupid amount of money for a card like this
Just bought an EVGA RTX 3070 FTW3 for around $400, and it'll be in the mail hopefully by December 2nd or so. It's an absolute demon of a card, and I think it's a steal, especially looking at the MSRP which was $200 higher.
Given that it was relased more than 2 years ago it is crazy that it isnt lower. But surely prices have dropped significantly from the MSRP+50% for all cards
@@travelguy78 Yeah, I agree. It's only 100 under 3070 msrp, and 200 under this specific card's. Though, I'm not complaining all that much, this thing's still great. It should prolly be at aronud 300-350 nowadays.

Why even talk about the 1030 when cheap RX6400 exist? It's not a great card or anything but it's gotta be the best in the lowest price bracket? Plus getting a LP card and popping into an optiplex becomes an option again... RSR will let you blame some pretty major games. Idk, just seems like the 100 dollar category only recommending nearly 200 dollar cards is a miss.
Great video; I just happen to be in the market. I was curious if you had done/plan to do a review on the RX 6700 non-XT? It looks like pretty decent price/performance, but I haven't found many people that have reviewed it.

In the last two years, I sold my 1050ti for £125, got a 1060 for £150, sold it for £160 and thankfully scavenged a 1080 for around £300 after selling the parts off a £600 PC I swiped up and parted out (and also downgraded with spare parts lol). I seemed to have turned a profit by upgrading my GPU twice! XD
My 2080 Super died at the peak of priced being insane. Bought a 6700XT after like a year for over $550. Finally was able to RMA the 2080 Super and MSI gave me a 3080 Suprim X and I was only able to recoup $300 from the 6700XT a few months later lol.
@@heroicsquirrel3195 yeah, the 2080 Super I had was the Gaming Trio X and wasn't super common. I imagine with the overstock of 3000 series cards it was easier to just send me a 3080 as a replacement.

We did a lot of showing charts so that you can make an informed decision even if the price moves, plus gave some opinions on what we'd do if each card moved a few bucks. 3080 at $700 and 6900 XT around or below that is looking good, though -- no wonder NVIDIA didn't want to launch any cheaper cards this year. can’t wait for the $900 5060
Their strategy is we didn't sell out on our last gen 30 series so we will charge an arm and a leg for 40 series.

At the peak of the GPU shortage/prices, the missus asked about gaming on a PC I built her a couple years prior. I had originally built it as a basic web browsing/productivity system, but it has 16G DDR4 and a reasonably fast AMD Ryzen 3 processor. Because prices were so steep even in the used market I tossed in the cheapest card I could find, which was a GTX1030 I ended up paying ~$180 for at the time (My backside still hurts from that one)
A few months ago the kid had asked about making a YT channel for gaming. They're also a heck of a lot better than the 760 & 1030 they had before (That 1030 performed worse than the 760 which I've had for close to a decade)
GPU prices coming down is about danged time.

Then you would be easily able to see which card has the best price/performance-ratio and is the best deal.
You can always calculate $ per frame based on Tomsharware GPU chart but a proper tool would be great !

You could made it for yourself in Google docs. Fill in fps, add some formulas to make a price/perf and here you go.

My launch 5700xt should be able to hold out for a year or two longer. This year I finally upgraded my CPU from an Intel 6700 to the 13600k.
i got rid of my 5700xt. The card barely handles game on high settings
My July 2017 purchase of the 1050Ti for $145 is still looking like a great value I see. The price has gone up $15 in 5 years! So much for Moor's Law being alive. I have a funny feeling my October 2022 4090 purchase will look about the same in years to come.
We’ll see I guess. I have a feeling that both of our 4090’s are gonna out live anything that comes out any time soon. But what do I know…
In the late 1980's same thing happened, no innovation for 6 years, next year should be good, unless we fall into depression

I bought my 1070 like 5-6 years ago for $250. They are selling on ebay for $120 LOL. GPUs are like cars now.
We're still getting screwed over in the UK, I don't understand why. There's enough stock now, so it must be entirely down to greed.
RX 6700XT is £430/$520
RX 6800 is £550/$665
And the RTX3080s are still £700/$850.
Holy fuck 600$ is around the cheapest price of USED rx 6800 xt I could find. Gratz man
Been enjoying my 3080 since launch. Super fortunate to have gotten it for msrp and it will continue to serve me well for many years.
I just upgraded from a 2070 gaming z to the 3080 gaming z and I love it. Picked it up for $800 brand new off Newegg like 3 days before black friday.
I can't believe they were so scarce that I eventually bit & got a pretty well done asus pre-built with a 3080. compared to the recent increase of today, I pretty much got a bargain then & now. The only bad thing about that mobo was that their z490 was not gen 4 proof like the other makers. 😂😂😂😂
I wish I could find a 3080 :( It's so difficult to find one that isn't in a pre-built.

I just bought a 6650XT for under $260 including tax and shipping. I'm really happy about it!
I got mine for 220 out the door. -Asus OC edition
Loving that i got my asus 6700xt new for 360 last month. Then upgraded the cpu to a 5600 for 100 more. Best part, i made a build with the parts i replaced, and sold that pc. So I pretty much upgraded my pc for free.
Nice.
I just bought a 3060 TI for $400 off Amazon, deals are abundant
Sadly card-prices are much more expensive in Europe overall. This is only for the US. But anyway, I went with 6700 XT for my new PC which I found on sale here for 420 Euro. I was going for the 6800 first, but I thought, meh.. might as well get this for a lot cheaper and then upgrade later since the new series are coming out :D
Not even funny how much cheaper it is in the US. I'd save like 50% if i got my pc for US prices
Yeah, sucks, that's why I saved up 1400 euro for a Sapphire 7900 XTX just in case.
What do you mean only for US?.The cards are dirt cheap in real economies of Asia.
If I want a 4080 it's working out at €1800 new what a absolute joke, Nvidia needs to start shipping to Ireland too so we can bypass the UK
I love this line from Steve: "There's no need to kick-start ARC"! 🏆 🍾 🍾
So true.
The 6950XT at ~$800 (I got mine for $789.99 from micro center) is an item I was surprised wasn’t listed as a viable option. 200+ fps in MWII at 4k with FSR is nothing to sneeze at for that price point
FSR is not great. Overall quiality is much worse, try native or Fidelitycasx
@@agustinvelasquez6406 I’m a pixel peeping nerd and have shot/edited video for almost a decade.
The issue for me is price. I've only ever seen it less than $50 cheaper than the XT and at that price it isn't worth it.
6650 XT prices crashed in May. Micro Center keeps doing great deals, I got one brand new for $220.
I LOVE that you have the side bars showing how long graphs will be up. That's awesome
Love the review, but I feel like the 6700 nonXT should have been included for its phenomenal price to performance
RX 6700 10gb is a beast and should have been included at the 300$ gpus
I agree. In my country rx 6700 costs basically the same as rtx 3060 and is a way better choice.
thinking of going down this route.
In NZ currently, the RX 6700 is selling for the exact same price (599.00 NZD) as the RX 6650 XT
Yep, he blasts past the 6700XT too which is 356/369 right now, that's a ridiculous value

Got a 6700XT for $320.00 on Black Friday. Fantastic card. Fantastic value.
Got Asus Dual RX 6600 for $300 CAD, around $220 USD plus tax, not a bad deal at all
I feel like I faired well in the great GPU price war of 2022 and came out ahead with a pretty nice value-focused gaming build.
PC building can be so satisfying when the parts feel like they were made for each other. Congrats on such a finely tuned build. :)
@@jacobgodserv Thanks!
Curious how you would spell "farewell."
RT is not a scam
I worded that poorly. It's not a scam. For graphic design it can be massive in terms of application, just not for gaming. Most games don't support it. It uses a massive amount of resources for extremely low returns, and greatly diminished overall performance. Like Linus and crew says constantly on LTT. And it's become Nvidias big selling point for their insanely overpriced GPUs. I'm very anti Nvidia these days, as is everyone I know. But yes technically, RT is not a scam and works well in certain applications.

Why even talk about the 1030 when cheap RX6400 exist? It's not a great card or anything but it's gotta be the best in the lowest price bracket?
