Unlocked this on console. With a controller full auto is almost impossible due to sensitivity. Single shot is also hard to consistently pull off due to such a high ROF and pulling of a controller trigger gap. The gun wants to dump the entire mag in 2 seconds flat. Sometimes you single shot, other times it's a 2 round burst. Downside of firing a 2 round burst is the follow up, since you're aiming higher after a 2 burst than a missed single shot. The first round of a 2 burst is still dead on, just the 2nd round kicks up the iron sights making follow ups not as quick. 2nd match I ended with 97kills/21deaths. It melts people with a 4~ round burst short to medium and is very forgiving if your aim isn't dead on. A 4-6 round burst will instantly kill anyone your iron sights are over, unlike a STG or mp40 if you wiff the first round full auto. The FG42 ROF will make those 5~ rounds seem like they instantly hit Very capable long range single shot. I love it more than a STG, but I lose full auto suppression. No longer can I blindly spray a hedge or smoke pulling left to right
Same experience i get every weapon controlled but FG42 is different you are so fast off target its not really made for controller clone range 0 to 25 Meter a absolut beast 25 to 50 manageable 50 plus pray and burst tap
I enjoyed your video! But as far as the actual semi-automatic FG 42 rifle... Translated excerpt from the FG42 manual: Paratrooper's Rifle 42 - FG42 - Weapon Handbook - (Issued September 1944) Part 1 I. Purpose and Characteristics "The weapon fires single-shot and in emergency, in the full-automatic mode." In game the full auto mode is fun, but in reality it could not hold up to any sustained light machinegun duty. That's why the manual calls for full auto for emergency use only.
I couldn't find definitive stats but my impression is that the bullet drop on 8mm Mauser is only around 3 inches at 200 yds - this would vary with barrel length and I could be wrong, but if that's the case then aiming for the head should still register a head shot and doesn't mean the gun is bugged.
Just because they shoot the same cartridge it doesn't mean that they will have the same bullet drop. The muzzle velocity (speed at which the bullet leaves the barrel) is dependant on the barrel length. The longer the barrel the more time the powder to burn and transfer energy to the bullet, hence it travels further before dropping. Good example is the M16 and M4 rifles, they use the same round but have different barrel lengths, hence have different effective ranges.
being a bolt action rifle the k98 should have more velocity than the fg. plus barrel length has a lot to do with it. but it is a game so they have to balance it some. the fg definitely should have more drop based off the ballistic setup they went with
Ive always wondered if you have a prefered mouse sensitivity for this game(if you use a mouse that is), I just started playing about a month ago but i usually use the 3rd speed setting out of 5 that my mouse has without adjusting the in game options
lower DPI is what most people use for fps games. My mouse goes down to 800 (a lot of people do 600 though). My in game ADS sensitivity is around 13-15.
You should tell us the model of mouse you are using, so we know the polling rate of it. "Speed" = Polling Rate. For FPS games, you should use a polling rate of 800 or higher. Some players use 1200, and some 1800. My mouse will do 18,000 polling rate, which would be useless in most cases. Also, tell us what your current in-game sensitivities are. ex: 35 ADS, and 50 Hip Fire. You'll get the answers you're after with more details given, as there is no one size fits all solution.
personally I had 400 DPI and 2.4 sensitivity in Apex (you can use the mouse sensitivity calculator to adjust to different games, keep an eye on FOP though) but recently I doubled the sensitivity because I don't tend to move my arm when I'm concentrating my aim
I wish there was a fire mode button I accidentally spit out 2 rounds a lot and it would be cool for the BAR too despite the fact that its the worst gun in the game
I'll probably never get the chance to use that still no news for the consoles yet think they have forgotten about us. Great video Terry as always
We got an update may 17!!
Yea boy get back to the game the update is there

So use a mouse and keyboard like a sensible person?
This
Sounds like a skill issue

Fire mode toggling isn't in the game at all yet. Apparently it'll be in the game eventually though.

Interesting... i don't have it unlocked yet, but i think i'll still be better with the STG; but that satchel... "it's a blast..!".
I feel like this was definitely on PC. FG-42 doesn’t single shot on console. It always seems to fire 2 or 3 shots per pull
Just got this gun last night
I was so excited it was embarrassing. Still getting used to it's kick and the sights.
Great fun so far though
Why is there no bullet drop for headshots yet, when they are moving, you need to aim really far ahead of them? That makes no sense.
the fg-42 shoots the same cartridge as the kar98, it should have the same bullet drop

Shorter barrel
Great it seems the weapon is much more usable now. Would be nice to use it, it's just that the gun is locked behind stupefying xp walls.😮💨
AFK farming on empty servers is completely respectable my friend
there are builder servers to farm exp and levels
@@shepherdlavellen3301 Aye, good to know. Maybe I'll give that a go, though I'm kinda limited on time.
@@Jymyte true, it's better to have at least an hour flex time if you want to farm xp, usually it takes me 2 hrs for a round to finish

What level does that get unlocked?
Level 6 automatic rifleman and for scoped one it is level 3 sniper
Or on console, keep waiting... 🤚
EF is still to drop for us guys.... 😊
This is easily the best gun in the game…….it just takes 10-15 hours to get good 😂😂😂
