Funny enough, one of their wings designs from the Dreamix series definitely seems to be 'inspired' by my Clarion wing design. I think I might still have a blog post up about it on my News page
I am working on my next competition piece Sakizou Sylph and this will be perfect for her wings!!!! I have been doing a lot of research but this has been more helpful that the lot of it! Thank you for taking the time to do this.
I’m trying to make wings similar to your autumn leaf ones, did you use the regular iridescent vinyl for those or a different color? I want something that’ll still show the paint through like yours but don’t add any blues/purples like I feel like the regular iridescent would. I’ve never worked with it before and don’t wanna waste money or time if that’s the wrong thing. Please and thanks!
I'm using a different film that I ordered wholesale, and it was the last of what they had. There used to be some similar film on Amazon but that vendor seems to have gone out of business or is no longer offering it. Also, just a quick note to please make some changes in your design so they aren't a copy of mine, TIA! :)
Would you consider posting a template for the purple wings you have on display in the middle? I’m in LOVE with them but too broke to even think about buying a pair like that 😅
You would not be able to adhere most iridescent films together without using glue, which is something I have never tried before. You would have to look to other tutorials for that method. For mine, you need the clear vinyl. It's much less messy and also allows the vein detail to show clearly on one side
Hi love, thank you for sharing your work and gifts ✨💓🧚🏼♀️ real life fairy✨🙏🏼 the wing frame do you have a tutorial on how you do them without using the wire? Do you have a tutorial on how to make them fancy like yours ? Thank you 🥰
Love your wings ❤ I used the other tutorial to make my own, didn't turn as pretty but they came the best they could for being my first time. How do you make the steel veins? I had to make mine with wire and they turned out fine but i had to weld them and that looks kinda odd if someone looks closely
@@MelanieJasmine I know this was a long time ago, but i just got some cut myself that i designed in 5052 0.063 aluminum they are PERFECT not too thick and not too thin. Very sturdy but still will give that small wave when walking if that makes sense
Thank you so much for making this fantastic tutorial! Do I understand correctly that there are *two* layers of iron-on vinyl in this tutorial, but only one in the unpainted version? Does that make them discernibly heavier? Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience with the world!
Yes, there is a layer of the iron on vinyl on the outside of the front and back, while the unpainted method I showed has just the one layer of vinyl on one side. However, you could skip the painting if you wanted and use that extra layer of vinyl for un-painted wings if you wish, to make them more sturdy. It will add a little bit more weight though, so keep that in mind if you're concerned about any drooping.
I absolutely love this video... Beautiful but wanted to tell you that the background music was a little too loud, making it hard to hear you at times. Thank you for sharing this video.
Thanks for sharing these amazing tutorials! Your wings are beautiful. I tried this one today but it was a bit of a disaster - when I put the ink onto the film and began “working it” all that happened was the ink got absorbed entirely into the stamp pad with none left on the film. I was pressing really lightly and using a dark purple so it should show up. The brand of ink I used was “the paper mill” as it’s all I could get - is this the problem? I followed everything else so not sure what I’ve done wrong...
I'm not familiar with Paper Mill brand, you just need to be sure it's solvent or alcohol based ink, and not water bases. If it's water based it will just come right off when you try to blend it.
Thanks so much for replying, I appreciate it. They are alcohol based inks, but for some reason didn’t work. I’ve ordered some Jacquard Piñata inks and will try again soon and see how I go...
The golden yellow wings in hanging up in the back of the video-- what iridescent cellophane is that specifically? I am trying to make golden sun fairy wings and I can only find bright plain orange and yellow on amazon. Thank-you so much for the tutorial! Love your wings!
That was a special film I had to order wholesale direct from the manufacturer, which is why you can't find it in the usual places. But, you can try ArtGlitter.com, they have a good selection of colors and one is yellow.
It's from leomdesigns.com I got it over 3 years ago at Faerieworlds in Oregon and I love it :D It's perfect for wearing with wings, because the back curves up high and sits right over where wings would sprout from! Thanks for reminding me, I hadn't been to the site in quite a while and am going to bookmark it now for sure and add it to the credits.
You can diy them. She has a previous video of how to make them using a cricut machine or just some gauge wire. I've been using the wire method for years and it works great. I use picture hanging wire for the local hardware store.
If I had to guess, these veins are brass or another lightweight metal. I believe most places that laser cut metal should be able to use the circuit SVGs. These appear to have a shape to be attached to a base, too.
You still would need to use the alcohol or solvent based paints or inks, otherwise water based paints would bead up and take forever to dry - if they would at all. But the Piñata colors inks say they can be used in airbrush, so give it a try if you have one! I have tried it before myself, however because my work space is in a second bedroom of the condo I'm renting, it's not practical or safe to airbrush these inks in there. I did try to build a makeshift ventilation system but it's such a PITA to use and set up, and I was having an issue with the inks somehow leaking out of the container's lids. I'm not sure why that was happening and never found an answer (maybe it had to do with the thinness of the liquid? Bad containers or lid seals?) so I kinda gave up on airbrushing with the inks and rely on vinyl prints of my digital painting now when I want to do something more specific or detailed.
@@fancyfairyangela thanks so much for the information. I know that with some airbrushes the liquid needs to be really thin to pass through. Sounds like a pain so i will try your method. On the original wings when you use the Bristol board to cut out which ply do you use?
The wings are incredible! But can I ask about your clothes? Just Beautiful! Do you make everything yourself? (A tutorial perhaps for the green sleeved overlay you have on? It looks like a longsleeved shirt you redesigned?)
Thank you! I didn't make any of the clothing I'm wearing in this video, only the wings. The olive green crop jacket is from LeomDesigns.com, I bought it a few years ago at the Faerieworlds festival. The corset is Burleska and the pendant is from Lumecluster.com :)

I was going to ask this same question! If the order matters. Is it HTV, irridescent film, frame, then wire, then htv? Im about to do the alcohol ink on my wings and don't want to ruin the final product!
Hi, good job with this video but you need to take off the corset or calm down. Your breathing is laboured and is making you look un-professional. I'm not trying to put you off, just trying to help. Other than the breathing thing you work, execution and method are second to none. You make it look so simple. Thank you for educating me and looking gorgeous whilest you did it. Ray.
Her breathing doesn’t make her seem unprofessional, but it seems very strained when she speaks, possibly from the corset or perhaps that’s just the way she speaks :)

Hey, it's a good look for her. And she did work for a Victoria's Secret model show, so I think it's a fair bet she's a professional at her job.
Her breathing doesn’t make her seem unprofessional, but it seems very strained when she speaks, possibly from the corset or perhaps that’s just the way she speaks :)
Your opinion is not necessary or helpful.
Yeah it seems like she’s not comfortable in front of the camera or maybe reading from a script it just doesn’t flow well
I think she's just speaking slowly and clearly so everyone, including non native speakers, can understand her.
