I have been heavily questioning the local hillsong church that i go to for a while now. I've been noticing that christianity in more and more churches is being taught as a topical cure to feel better about life instead of confronting you with your sin and challenging you to leave your old life behind. They preach that you can be secure in Him and that He will fix it all, but what they don't preach is the cost that it takes to follow Jesus, and that it is worth it. And it's hard because i know that it mostly comes from a good heart, but i am seeing the effects of the lack of real discipleship in the church because so many people are struggling with huge sin issues. There is no culture where holiness comes first but instead, everything has to be happy clappy dancy. Sunday services are more like social events with a self-help talk sometimes. And it's hard to know what to do because i don't really agree with that type of leadership, but i know that its hard to be a leader and navigate church in times like these.

wow really loved all of this. what you just wrote convicts me alone. keep praying it’s His house and He will restore it. just keep going to your church and BRINGING your oil. don’t go to the church to be filled come filled as you’re spending time with him daily. be the example of someone with a life laid down to Jesus at your church.

That statement of jt being taught as a self help or cure to feel better, vs confrontation of sin, really hit me. I'm 19, and I feel like when I did get into this walk, it defiantly was a form of comfort and encouragement, which can be really helpful, but like you said it takes away, it doesn't really confront the spirit and our ways and challenge what we thought was once right but isn't in the eyes of Yah

@@xchorro That's beautiful, thank you for your encouragement. I am diving into a season of asking what God calls me to do in life and in this season and i do believe that to be like you described, to pour from a place of overflowing. I am going be seeking out a new church though, because i cannot walk this race alone without anyone discipling or leading me. I also watched the hillsong documentary and was deeply disturbed by what i saw and have recognised similar patterns in my local church.

@@misochi5277 Thank you for sharing, it's beautiful when God uncovers our wicked ways to lead to His path of eternal life instead. I know that those years can be tough and confusing. For me it was a time of battling a lot of things with God as well. But He will reward those that wait on Him and are patient and persistent in killing their flesh by the grace and help of the holy spirit. And you will reap the rewards in due time. Never in my life have i experienced as much peace as i do now (i'm 25), because of the fruit of the spirit that's growing every day. And i only expect it to grow more as i get older and keep on walking on the narrow path. God is good :)

Reminds me of something my mom and dad used to say that they hate "prosperity church" or prosperous preaching because knowing God is in the struggles coz if we are always happy we will forget God rather than creating a relationship with God they focus on other things like a prosperous life what's so ever

Had a similar situation at my grandparent's catholic church. My parents got saved out of the catholic church in the 80s but my grandparents asked me to go with them to Mass one Sunday when I was about 12 and I brought my Bible with me which is just standard practice for a Protestant service. I felt like an idiot waiting to open my Bible and looking around and everyone else having their missal open to their assigned reading for the day. I knew something was off with the cathlic church at that point. Very important message Alex, thank you so much for sharing.

I am currently a volunteer at my church in a number of capacities, one of which is a youth leader. The staff have been working for the last year to build a youth band, and it was suggested that I should help with it because I also hep lead worship for the youth, but there has been little to no communication on how we are to improve the way we conduct worship. Right now worship is an after thought for our youth group. I am not typically given songs until the day before and sometimes the day of youth group and I have been pushing for us to make prayer a regular part of our preparation for worship. Despite all of this I have felt like I have been devalued because my suggestions for discipleship and further biblical basis for our worship has been pushed aside. I have been praying about how to best approach this situation and I do need to create some specific questions to ask of the staff.

My ex fiance, her mom, was HR for the local church of 10,000. She was very manipulative emotionally and just judgemental of everything. She sucked the life out me, her mom, and my spirit was dying. My ex split up with me and honestly God has been amazing since then. My heart is full again. This is such an important topic that is not discussed enough. Thank you, Brother, for going there!!!
With wise scrutiny and vetting we can lessen not only spiritual abuse but physical, sexual, financial, and all other sorts of abuse from wolves in sheeps clothing. We are called to be *wise as serpents* and gentle as doves but we are lacking in biblical and spiritual knowledge, naive and all too trusting.
Unfortunately leadership roles of any kind, in the church or the world, are most vulnerable to predators because they use their authority to control and prey on the most vulnerable, naive, and trusting among us. It's such a shame. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy. The goats and wolves greatly outnumber the true shepherds and sheep old my experience. "The way is narrow and few there be that find it." This includes those in charge! We have been in some sketchy churches and some may even be cults. They are not uncommon but rather the norm, unfortunately. You have to know God and your Bible and pray and obey God. He promises to give us wisdom when we ask for it!
Where are the watchmen on the wall anymore? Think about a watchman. What's his purpose? To lookout and warn of intruders and visitors and tell others what he sees and sound an alarm if need be. All of this requires order and a chain of command to be effective. He can sit there all day long and blow his horn but if no one is there to hear, or if the people are all tuning it out, then it's all for nothing. "Unless the Lord builds the house, the people labor in vain."
We as a Church have to get ourselves in order. We have to clean house. "Judgement begins with the household of God." Covid has begun this process but it will get worse before it gets better. But we have to clean house and get ourselves in biblical order and "be doers of the word, not hearers only, deceiving ourselves". The world needs us! The world needs the Church to show them the way to Jesus! We are in a spiritual war and always have been but we are so easily duped and distracted. We indeed are like sheep to the slaughter. The Church has to get in order to receive the harvest. "The harvest is plenty but the workers are few."
Lord help us all!! Show us the way to be a light in the darkness, a lighthouse for you! Shine your light through us, Jesus, to lead The Way for others into your Kingdom! Teach your Church to be KINGDOM MINDED!!
Please do a video series on the Kingdom of God!! We don't talk about this enough, especially as westerners it is a foreign concept. And we need to understand what heaven is really all about and what what is really in store for us after judgement and we are united with our Father and the Family of God forever and we will reign with him in his Kingdom! Glory hallelujah!! That'll get you pumped up to endure persecution! Equip the saints to fight the war before us! We need more bravehearts in this sissified world we live in (I am a woman, btw)! We are called to ACTION by God! Thank you for doing what you do! I just found your channel about a week ago and I appreciate your candor and sincerity and your topics on phone addiction and tech distractions in general. The truth makes us free!! Telling it, listening to it, honoring it, pursuing it! Jesus is The Way, The Truth and The Life!!
Keep doing what you're doing, Brother, I'm inspired and humbled by the things you share and the relevant topics of everyday life that you address. Stay humble, friend!!!

I was traditionally brought up Catholic and was always terrified going to church because I always felt like anything I did was offensive. Was never encouraged to read the Bible but to follow the sacraments of the Catholic Church. I always knew there was a God but I feared Him so never followed Him truly. But always knew that something was not right about Catholic religion. Long story but last year I hit rock bottom and my God found me and I surrendered my life to Him. I finally picked up the Bible and He has been speaking to me ever since. So much has been revealed to me! I follow the Truth now and I question everything and reference back to the Word. You and your wife have been such a blessing! I been following you since your tic tok days and I and my husband truly are so grateful for what you guys do!
Side note: my parents are still Catholic and my mom listens to what I half to say about the Word but she never fact checks it she is still stuck on her traditional religion. I tell them please don’t let me speak of it read it for yourself!

I also feel the same type of hate from some women I work with, outside of the church. They are double-minded in that they seem to support people of Color but really feel a sense of fragility about themselves when one (esp. young, bright, joyful etc.) leads. No respect or love you show them truly softens them toward you. And I even feel a particular type of hate from being a Black woman. But it is deeper than skin and gender. It is a demonic spirit of division, greed, and vanity that has permeated the world. That spirit can manifest in different ways; its purpose is to serve the enemy, who solely comes to steal, kill, and destroy. And only God can defeat it. So many people around the world have had similar experiences and been left confused and feeling like they did something wrong. We pray for the salvation of our enemies ❤. Regardless, God will prevail!

Many churches are exceptionally good at making folks feel unwelcome. But God has shown how much he loves us, despite “man’s” false display of god. Those particular churches are worshipping a god with a lowercase g, even if they don’t realize it. The God I know and love is not the same. Thank you for your message. 😊

One thing that I kind of struggle with is the question of women in ministry. Many Christian’s, especially baptists believe that women should not be preachers. I am Baptist and am therefore more likely to listen to whatever some Baptist pastor/elder/whatever says. But in the bible God has used not only men but also women to preach. The only preaching / teaching positions in the church for women seem to be in kids ministry, or “less authoritative” positions like leading a women’s ministry or a life group etc.
But when you look at Priscilla, Miriam, Deborah, Huldah or one of the many other examples in the bible you can see that God can and will use anyone he has equipped with the talents/gifts that he wants them to have and that women can in fact have the same positions that are mostly filled by men. But whenever I try to talk about it they just refer to the passage where Paul told women to be quiet and they say that women just have a different role in the church. And maybe that is the case for a lot of women but where in the bible does it ever say that women are prohibited from preaching? Especially that passage of Paul has got to be put into context and when you look at the specific chosen phrasing in the Hebrew text he doesn’t actually tell women to be silent in general, but tells them to stop chattering during church.
But I am kind of scared to even explore my talents in that direction because I don’t want to do anything against Gods will. And sometimes I feel like that fear is just used by whatever men don’t want women to be pastors or sth similar.

I used to go to a very charismatic evangelical church back in college. The people there were some truly awful people full of arrogance. It led me on a path of atheism, and when they saw that I was having doubts in my beliefs (because of them), they scored me even more, made me feel small simply for questioning the church, etc.. this church is destroying young peoples faith and belief in God. I went to this church with some of my best friends at the time and now they are all pretty much atheist from this experience. I also had some negative experiences in other churches as well, but this was by far the worst. The pastor is also a convicted sex offender, which says a lot honestly…
After this experience, I pretty much became an atheist and started living a very secular life, denying God at all costs. Around a year ago, I was saved for real and have been following God ever since. I go to a different church sometimes, but I am still very weary of church leaders so I don’t want to get super involved in a church yet. Unfortunately the church attracts a lot of people who have evil in their hearts, who judge and belittle others, even though the Bible calls us to be the opposite.
I really appreciate your videos and podcasts. They help me grow closer to God even more than church.

Hell to me is important to know about because it will produce us a higher sense of gratitude for our salvation, while also producing love to help pull people out of hell. I just wonder why my Pastor doesn’t teach us about the importance of hell and how we are to save people from it!

My parents are Roman Catholic and they told us (my siblings and me) that Peter was the first Pope established by Christ and that when Christ said to Peter, upon this rock I establish my church, meant the Catholic church, which they claim is the "universal church" - Since 2010 I no longer believe this as I am a born-again believer in Christ. I love my parents and I know they meant well and did the best they knew to do, but I pray for them that God will open their eyes to His truth as He so graciously did with me.

So we moved out recently and that also included moving churches, ever since I moved to this church I have had this uneasy feeling and some sort of confusion ; especially since I have been questioning the pastor's approach towards preaching and the different parts of the church, such as the youth and kids church . It seems more like an entertainment show than a sermon, with him making jokes almost the entire sermon. Also in the kids church, the kids spend majority of the time playing games, dancing to worldly music before the service starts. Just as it starts they play another game then worship and receive a message. As they wait for their parents, they dance to worldly music once again. In addition, when I went to the youth for the first time I was shocked honestly. It's more like an entertainment center for teens, they play games almost the whole time and there's always a dress up game or some theme or some sort of entertainment to make the kids want to come to youth, from my understanding. Everyone just seems so dead in the spirit and after seeing this video, I now understand that this is conviction from the holy spirit. ❤

This is on time and I’ve been wanting to hear someone talk about how not everything that says it involves God is truly Godly! My husband and I just left our church that we were serving in, we started noticing that it was starting to feel less led by God and more led by being noticed as a church. We prayed and meditated on the word and God showed us that it was time to leave because they allowed something against the bible to happen in the church. I know so many people don’t know that it’s wrong because they don’t read their bibles, they just go to church and take what is said for what it is.

I question are they really listening for and to what says the Lord. He wants us to share ourselves and what we have with others. We are to love at all times no matter the circumstances. I now sit under the leadership of a woman who is dominant, strong minded and will listen. Then do what she still wants. And I do question her, I do say what I think that which would lead us in the direction of making a difference indirectly. Then I move away slowly, while still offering myself to be used and not to be used in the sense of less work for this person that I’m sitting under. I pray for discernment and the power of the Holy Spirit is powerful and so present.

One of my elders believes and preaches, entering into Heaven through works and not the grace of God alone. After much though, I realized that they separate being saved and entering Heaven. Basically, she believes you can be saved and still not enter Heaven because, according to her, those are two separate things. We even went through 1 Corinthians ch3 vs 13-15, which I think is one of the most compelling scriptures that teach that we don't enter Heaven through works but the grace of God alone. ‼️Guys, please help with advice you might have, we are scheduled for another gathering to further discuss this.‼️

That’s not talking about heaven but the new earth, we do good works because we are saved, the Holy Spirit who lives in us is proof we will inherit the kingdom of God. Also I’m sorry but a woman she not be an elder because that is a authoritative role that Paul said belongs to a man. Some will say that was just culture but it wasn’t, paul uses reason by stating eve was deceived first. This is in Timothy btw. The good works are about the rewards we will get on the new earth. Paul even says if your works are burnt you will get in by the skin of your teeth.
Stand firm and may God give you grace and peace

I like the Kleins better, even tho I’m disappointed about it not being able to cut that large wire since they’re considered heavy duty.

Something that I’ve questioned from my church leadership is the openness and willingness to preach politics during the sermon. I personally believe that a lot of political issues are just personal preference, of course some aren’t, but I think others are. That being said, preaching politics instead of the Word on Sunday seems off to me because that’s not why we’re there. Church is a place where we come to worship, listen to the sermon, and have fellowship with believers. I just didn’t really like getting a voting guide from my church, seemed out of place. What do you guys think?

Every leader - including you, who on this platform are a religious leader - must be humble about the fact that they could be wrong. Indeed, every disciple should maintain that same humility. I’ve been a pastor for over 15 years and I’ve lost count of the number of times someone has bent scripture to support their choices, then we I attempted to help them they pulled the “this is what the Holy Spirit said to me” card.
Christianity is communal. Therefore, Christians must be humble.

I go to a mixed race church and the lead pastor is Black. I’ve been a member for eight months now and I’m always incredibly enlightened by his sermons. He’s great. However, on only my second visit to the church I noticed that he has a habit of saying “Negro” while preaching (in manner that is colloquial to us Black folk!). He’s never misinterpreted doctrine, and I know his intention is not to offend, but I truly feel confused as to why he uses that language in the presence of non-Black people. When it slips out, everyone appears to be OK with it (even other Black members!) but it feels so weird to me. My biggest issue is I feel it’s inappropriate as a leader for him to use any form of the N-word, especially around non-Black people who may later pick up on that behavior (which has unfortunately already happened). Flash-forward a few months, a white church staff/volunteer (who has mixed race grandchildren) later used the N-word while TALKING TO ME and when I addressed it to her she was remorseful and apologized but added that she picked up the word from other people in the church. (Yeah, ya think!??) I’ve built a good relationship with my pastor and his wife, but this one thing continues to outrage me and is clearly a massive misstep in his form of pastoral leadership.

Hey brother! I’m a Catholic and I recently found your channel like your videos! But I feel the need to question your opinion here. The Catholic Church provided the Bible to the world. “The Catholic Church doesn’t want people to have Bibles” seems like a contradiction to historical evidence
Edit: in fact, Christ never instructed the disciples to “write the Bible and give it to everyone” he tasked the disciples with “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19-20) with the authority given them to bind and loose in heaven and on Earth (John 20:23)

I ask. Christain leaders / church what do they believe in? Or any religion. Just to see how they answer. Or To see if it aligns with the Bible beliefs.

Can someone answer which version of Scripture is the most accurate and has not been manipulated by the Catholic Church or any other in a way that can lead to misunderstanding / misrepresentation regarding details or deleted chapters and verses. I’m trying to find one to buy. Thank you!!

ESV is a great translation which is more word for word from the greek/Hebrew and New King James would be more idea for idea because english doesn’t translate from ancient Hebrew too well that’s why there’s so many versions. Hope this helps!

@@davidhiramreyes6490 not what I said maybe I worded it wrong nkjv takes the words from the greek and uses the ideas, esv takes the literal words and makes them english despite what was being communicated. Regardless if you’re getting into the bible God will speak to you in all the versions, so the best version is the one you are willing to read!

There are so many “routes” and “interpretation” that people offer….But our faith is the only faith God tells us to think before we do!
