  • Milton Road Cemetery is a haven for wildlife with foxes and badgers living there. We have an abundance of birdlife, too, with Green woodpeckers and owls often heard around the site. The change in grass cutting regime has also allowed many wildflowers to come through including Ox-Eye Daisies, Lady’s Leek, Evening Primrose and Scabiosa, in addition to our regular Primroses and Red and White Valerian. This has led to an increase in butterflies, moths and other insect life. The cemetery is also part of our ‘Love the Outdoors’ collective of passionate nature lovers. wsm-tc.gov.uk/...

Good common sense approach. A cemetery is a placed where mourners have laid their love ones to rest and it is not for the rewilding brigade to turn it into an impenetrable jungle, or into a place where graves can no longer be located due to overgrowth. How you manage thug weeds such as brambles is not mentioned but it may require weed killer, although I know this is a taboo subject. You seem blessed with contractors, whereas we have volunteers who are too old for heavy work. As you can imagine this does make the task difficult.
