  • A Subscriber asked me if I would describe the video recording system I use for this channel, in detail. Oh well here goes... This setup is one example of how to do this, I think a similar setup would work for any sort of hobbyist use that involves making things, repairing things, and just about anything similar

Ok, how to say it? I think you should upgrade your fluorescent strips lights, which provide that (signature?) ghostly green tinge. You could probably, and quite easily, use a reel or two of 12v LED strips, mounted closely together and soldered up. It might even be enough to use the existing light fixture you have once the tubes are removed. You could choose a pre-set colour temperature, or mix between different temp LED strips. Your light would then balance to something more natural and just as bright. I believe some brands give a broader spectrum, avoiding their own eerie colour limitations, so research is a good idea. Cheap too, though an unlikely boot sale find. I think this will immediately improve the look of your videos.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will give this a try and they would be easy to mount on the existing tube fitting

Cheers. Most of the equipment is not expensive, the Navceker was about €70 on a special offer, the webcams are cheap. The C Mount 'side' cam with 5-50mm zoom was about €60. The Sony HDR-AX2000 cam is an old model as it is 1080P but they do fetch good money for a used one. The software is all free and the computers are from the car boot sale. The mic is an AT3035

Really interesting to see how you’ve set yours all up, thank you. I’ve gathered a couple of cheap cameras and a Elgatto card, bought an hdmi microscope and had a few dry runs of doing some repairs on camera but the quality has been so poor I’ve not bothered uploading them. Only thing I have uploaded has been set to private for the last year as I haven’t had the confidence to post it and that’s just me an my son working on our car. I’ll post it now, you’ve kinda given me a nudge and you never know, people might be having trouble sleeping and might find it useful 😂

USED GPT-4 to READ CHINESE MANUAL and Equipment Labels from iPhone video ... I'm sure the rest of you have been doing this, but I took a video on my iPhone of a Chinese label that I needed to understand and screen-captured a still image from the video and cropped the image of the labels and then uploaded the images one at a time into GPT-4 and asked Chatgpt to tell me what they said in English. I later found the English version I had misplaced of the manual showing the labels in English and checked and GPT-4 had given me the correct translation. Have used it a few times to read some labels on some tools I have and their schematics. Also Data Sheets. So in a pinch when have something in the shop and need to know what it says GPt-4 will translate from a photo taken with iPhone.

Using decent Mic and DJ mixer along with an audio compressor (hardware or software) then using noise reduction in post editing is the key to good audio. And I have tried quite a few other setups before I got to this one.
Agreed, the lighting and camera above the bench are on 2x1 wooden batten and a 1x1 steel square section tube respectively. The steel square section is clamped to the shelving either side of the bench using G clamps. The wooden batten for the lighting is moveable backwards and forwards but too long to ever be able to fall off the shelving no matter what you did with it
Show your face, I mean would you walk into a bar or club or down the beach with a box over your head? Use you own voice, what can Trolls possibly do to you anyway, I don't give a f#ck, they are welcome to their opinion but it wouldn't bother me what anyone thinks. Anyway I turn into a wolf at full moon so the trolls better beware 🤣 👹
