When I was about 4 or 5, my dad would play a Beatles compilation album for me and we'd always go to this song.. Sometimes we'd sing the right lyrics, other times we'd kid around and purposely mess up the words and laugh about it.. I know this song is about a guy who loves a girl named Michelle.. But because of the memories I share with this song, I count it as me and my dad's song... When I was a kid in Malaysia there was a priest in my Parrish who was Father Michelle. One day he told me that when he was transferred to London for something I can’t remember but one day the Bishop told him to go teach a couple of guys French since he was the only French priest in London at that time. So he said he met the Beatles group n taught them French. Thus that song Michelle had French lyrics in it . Loved this song! Paul said it was inspired by the French singer Juiette Greco whom he "fancied like mad"! Today would have been her 94th Birthday! Happy Birthday Juliette! You are so lucky to have him fancy you and write a song about it! I wish it was me!
