A few tips when heading to Pebbly Beach:
- Station Creek & Pebbly Beach are in National Parks, so don’t forget to book your campsite before you rock up.
- Station Creek is tidal so check the tides before crossing - on a low tide, cross no earlier than 2 hours before & no later than 1.5 hours after. DO NOT attempt to cross at high tide, so many cars have been lost to this.
- As you will see when we attempt the crossing in, we hit a few deep holes. Aim to cross a little more to the left as you see when we drive out. NPWS have added more pebbles in this area to make crossing easier.
- You will be driving through soft sand dunes, so pack in a tire deflator & air compressor & aim for 18-20psi.
- Recovery gear is a must especially a shovel & some maxtrax - lots of people get bogged.
- Avoid leaving your handbreak on when you get to camp after crossing the creek as salt can cause things to cease up.
- Make sure you rinse your car when you get home as salt is highly corrosive. BCF sell an awesome product called Salt Away (I'm not afflilated with either of these companies). It's designed to neutralise any salt stuck on the car thus avoiding dreaded rust.
