im from the midwest and we have out of place salmon execpt a "small one" can range from 7-12 lbs by species
And here in Utah, our state record salmon is less than 6 pounds 😂 Kokanee are definitely a much smaller species.
@@BackyardBoyTV yup they are land locked sockeye and ours are “lake run” kings and cohos
Definitely two species that are on my bucket list! Hopefully one day soon I'll get out and catch some!
Do the weekends have a lot more pressure on the fish? From the looks of it, the two of you have this stream to yourselves!
I've fished this stream several times and always had it to myself! Definitely a hidden gem that not many people know about!
Dude, leave them spawning kokes alone. I know people fish for them in Alaska and literally every other state, but that doesn't matter. We are in Utah, and that makes them more fragile. Besides, studies have shown that catching kokes during the spawn is really bad for the population, the internet says so. Come on man. 😡😡😆😆
But if I left them alone, then I wouldn't be causing a permanent negative impact on the population like I intend on doing! 😉
Once Kokanee spawn, they die. So catching and releasing them is not hurting the population. @@BackyardBoyTV
@@rongarris8574 a lot of people for some reason believe that catching a kokanee while it's spawning drastically increases the chance of them dying before successfully spawning. This is obviously not true. And even if it was, pretty much none of Utah's kokanee populations are self sustaining. Making it perfectly fine to fish them during the spawn. Many people just don't realize this.
Leave the kid alone 😂
