      @@Mrfurballs great save!
      I rescued my Corrado about 25 years ago from a small dealership who was ready to give up on it
      It's actually amazing how many cars get thrown away

    would this work the same for an auto jetta of the same year?

    • @GTsGarageTech
      @GTsGarageTech  Рік тому +1

      No it would not. The automatic uses ATF (automatic transmission fluid) and requires the pan to be dropped, plus the filter replaced. You can buy kits for this on FCP euro.

    How do you know how much fluid to put?

    • @GTsGarageTech
      @GTsGarageTech  2 роки тому +1

      I believe I stated how much it takes in the video, but it’s super easy to find. Look up on google the 02J transmission fluid capacity. That’s where I found it. Don’t take my word for this but I believe you should be able to stick your finder in the full hole and feel the fluid level right below it. I could be thinking of a different vehicle thoigh

    • @Mrfurballs
      @Mrfurballs 2 роки тому

      it takes close to 3 quarts .

    • @AcmePhoto
      @AcmePhoto 3 місяці тому

      One can also measure how much comes out. FWIW you don't want to be low... The 5th gear will be starved of oil as that chamber sits slightly higher, at least that's how it works on a 02j 5 speed. (I have a GQQ transmission in my 06 tdi)
      You want to fill it to where it starts to run back out.

    Good idea of the clear tube. But always use VW certified Trans fluid :)

    Supposed to have your fluid level flush not ramped

    Next time put the rear up on jack stands to level the car out

    • @AcmePhoto
      @AcmePhoto Рік тому

      It's best to not do this. OP put exactly the right amount of fluid in, and a tad more is better than less, as if it's under filled 5th gear will take a hit, especially important to have the proper amount in if doing a lot of highway miles.
