  • Hey Friends!
    My friend Mateusz couldn't drive his 1984 Mercedes 500SEC due to cooling system leaks so the car sat for a while. Here I am changing his water pump and other parts on his C126.. This was a painful job. I also replaced the front crankshaft seal. I couldn't go without it.
    We MUST SAVE CLASSIC CARS. Because soon we won't have any left.. And they don't make them like they used to!!!

    I think you are the only guy who can replace the water pump, crank seal outside with limited tools and in the dark in Mercedes repair history..... Kudos....

    FYI
    You do not have to remove the distributor to access that bolt you just need to remove the bolt right in front of it and it give to complete access. :)

      I tried everything I could. That bolt was in no way of a reach without lifting the distributor up

    Hi Vito, long time since I posted/ask you a question. I’m about to tackle this on my 560 sel and what do you think about pump by Graf company?

    • @VITOSGARAGE
      @VITOSGARAGE  Рік тому

      Graf is a very popular brand for the water pumps right now. However, I’ve never tried any so I can’t tell if it’s good or not

    Why is running so noisy?
    Did you check the alternator and steer pump wheel bearings?

    I just changed my timing guides and this looks worse! Could you just get that one bolt turning, cut it, fully remove it and then use a smaller bolt? Either way good shit!

    • @VITOSGARAGE
      @VITOSGARAGE  Рік тому +1

      Thank you. And yes, you can probably install a shorter bolt on the bottom. But we installed a good brand water pump so she will be good forever. And all the mating surfaces were cleaned up very well before the installation

    Cut outs in harmonic balancer to clear bolts, removing it isn't necessary. Just have to rotate crank round to the right spot.

    • @VITOSGARAGE
      @VITOSGARAGE  Рік тому +2

      You have to remove it man. Cut outs don’t help

      @@VITOSGARAGE how did you remove the distributor? I removed the bolt, but I can't seem to pull/pry the distributor out.

    What torque spec did you do the harmonic balancer and the water pump bolts to???

    • @VITOSGARAGE
      @VITOSGARAGE  Рік тому

      You need to look it up in the manual. I can’t remember. Sorry. But I did it German tight. Don’t overtighten the water pump bolts or you’ll break them

    Hey man how did you remove the crank pulley?

    • @VITOSGARAGE

      @@VITOSGARAGE alright I did figure it out thank you! Although I may have messed up... I removed the hub bearing and put it back in without realizing the key in there so it wasn’t aligned. I took it back out and I put it back in “properly” but now I have a new issue. My harmonic balancer is hitting the timing marker on the water pump and I am having issues with belt clearance for the pulley. Basically everything is pushed back pretty far... did I over tourqe it maybe or what do you think?
