What a Charming Tenor Voice - A Pure Beauty of Handel Messiah

- This messmerising tenor is: Joan Folqué.
Joan sings:
Comfort ye my people and Ev'ry valley shall be exalted by George Frideric Handel and his majestic oratorio Messiah.
Joan Folqué received his first vocal training from the soprano Marta Mathéu. He studied at the ESMuC (Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya) with the mezzo-soprano Mireia Pintó and completed a master’s degree at the Institute for Singing and Music Theater at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with a focus on opera with tenor Ramon Vargas.
He sang under conductors such as Marc Minkowsky, Pinchas Steinberg, Rani Calderon, Erwin Ortner and Jordi Savall and appeared as a soloist e.g. in works such as Georg Friedrich Handel's "Messiah", Mozart's "Requiem", "Choral Fantasy" and "9. Symphony" by Ludwig van Beethoven, Bruckner's "Te Deum", the "Nelsonmesse" by Joseph Haydn, "Paradise and the Peri" by Robert Schumann or the "Petite Messe Solennelle" by Giacomo Rossini.
As an opera singer, he embodied Don Basilio in Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro" at the Besançon Festival of Early Music. He made his debut with Don Ottavio in "Don Giovanni" and Ferrando in "Così fan tutte" at the Opera de Sabadell in Barcelona and at the Teatro Regio di Torino as Matteo in "Violanta" by Erich Wolfgang Korngold. He recently sang Gastone in Verdi's «La Traviata» at the same theatre.
Messiah (HWV 56) is an English-language oratorio composed in 1741 by George Frideric Handel. The text was compiled from the King James Bible and the Coverdale Psalter by Charles Jennens. It was first performed in Dublin on 13 April 1742 and received its London premiere nearly a year later. After an initially modest public reception, the oratorio gained in popularity, eventually becoming one of the best-known and most frequently performed choral works in Western music.
Megaron Choir is in my humble opinion one of the best European youth choirs. Their energy, virtuosity, and competence are beyond rational understanding.
Megaron Chamber Choir was founded in October 2003 on the initiative of Damijan Močnik, composer and conductor, and united former students of the Diocesan Classical Gymnasium at St. Stanislav’s Institution in Ljubljana, who had before been active in various choral ensembles and received music education in one or more of the five choirs at the Diocesan Classical Gymnasium. As such, Megaron Chamber Choir represents the peak of the choir pyramid of St. Stanislav’s Institution. In the sixteen years since its founding, Megaron Chamber Choir has evolved into a high-quality choir performing regularly in Slovenia as well as in Austria, Italy, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Poland, USA, and Canada, and thus earning a reputation at home as well as abroad.

I am so hooked to Megaron Baroque Orchestra and Choir.
God bless!
Top class performance. I have taken a long time to begin to truly appreciate Handel's music, for its beauty and complexity. Considering this composition was written over 300 years ago, it makes me wonder if mankind is regressing, instead of progressing.
Absolutely regressing. This music can transfer us even beyound our imagination. Dear Derek I wish you all the best.

Beautifully done. For those who can't quite place the biblical reference, it is KJV Isaiah Chapter 40.
