Thank you, Layne. So grateful to have you share your experiences with me. I’m Struggling to learn “who” I am what I need to do what my style is I like so many things I started off with bamboo in water paint But found oil so much easier How do I do modern things (seems all my stuff from source appeals to older folks (so maybe old fashioned I like impressionistic I like to leave people searching for what they see there making intrigue But feel so lost to know what to do next. Thank you for todays excellent sketch underpaintibg - I want to watch this again ! I really appreciate all you teach thanks again Layne
You certainly can do an acrylic underpainting, but you have to work faster since acrylics dry much faster than oils. And depending on what you're drawing your sketch with, you may still need to seal it first.

Make sure you use the right fixative for your surface. Most canvas is coated with an acrylic primer but some are covered with an oil primer
Great point. I always use acrylic-primed.
I started oil painting in January. I have learned a lot from you and I’d like to thank you for.
Awesome!

You're very welcome. That's a struggle we all go through on our journey. For me, it was figuring out what I enjoyed most, then doing more of that.
Hello! Thank you very much. I like your paintings. Congrarulations and I wish you the best in life!
Thanks very much!
One of my biggest problems solved! Thank you so very, very much for posting this!
Glad it helped!
Thank you for the tip. Your yard is absolutely beautiful. One could get some good inspiration drawing and painting trees from your yard ~ landscape.
You're very welcome. Yes, there's much more inspiration living in the country than in the city! Thanks!
Отлично! Прекрасная техника!❤
Thanks!
Hi Layne, thanks for the great tip and mentioning the name of the brand which you are using. Have a nice weekend💖
You're very welcome!
Hey Layne, do you still have to use a fixative if you do the drawing with an ink marker?
You don't need to use a fixative over ink. Use real ink. I found out the hardway that oil does not stick to sharpie😒
No, but make sure you're using the right kind of marker. In this video, I show using an acrylic marker: ua-cam.com/video/ntSJ1nEeh9o/v-deo.html
Yikes!
Why not acrylic underpainting?
