I've done Tokyo with some of my exchange classmates in '11! What's most amazing if you're from America visiting tokyo is that if you leave on Christmas Day (around 9pm Japan time), you can fly back to America and spend christmas again because of the time zone difference lol. It was awesome to have 2 Christmases back to back.
I like the fact that you are so naturally adventurous, you seem not to be afraid of trying anything and I love your videos!!! Keep on doing it, cheers :)
What is not to like? The social standards I suppose for work and family life. For the Japanese it's okay but people who live outside Japan its a mixed opinion (some would even argue its really bad). Most areas here in Japan are clean but very expensive.
I'd also like to point out Japan has a serious issue with overworking employees and from time to time while waiting for the Train we would get delays that are caused by suicides (people jumping off the rails) most common in Chuo line (where I frequently travel on).
The cold stone staff are so cute! They put me in xmas mood all over again. 😂 Mikey next time go up to Starbucks in Shibuya and shoot the crossing from there. The view of the busy scramble is spectacular! 😍
Mikey, I was there too on the Christmas eve. I DID NOT see you... so...that implies how big that intersection is....enjoy....fun to watch all of your videos.
Oh man!! I sure hope you back to your hotel fairly soon after you shot this video. If not, Santa wont come. That's some major crazy intersections they have there, that's coming from someone that's live in NYC.
No time like the present to learn! The internet's a big place. I found a website that teaches Russian for free, I'm sure you can the same for Japanese :)
My close friend is going to Tokyo soon so I've been sad about not going as well, but your vlogs are making me feel just a little less sad, thank you :)
I have to admit, when the coldstone creamery staff started singing jingle bells, it reminded me of the scene at the end of A Christmas Story where Ralphie's family goes to the chineses restaurant and get caroled... somewhat successfully.
That was awesome. Jingle bells in Japanese! You must work out like a fiend! That’s a lot of dumpling for one man! I hope you had a Merry Christmas. If you’re ever in San Antonio Texas we should eat!😎
The Japanese polite enough to not tell you they are bothered by your appearance and difference that's what it usually is. Speaking out about what we really think is considered impolite and stand off-ish.
Not just tourist-ness, I think Mikey doesn't do grocery shopping back home. You are not suppose to poke or squeeze the fruits and vegetables because you will spoil them.
Oooh, I saw Bic Camera. Last summer when i was in Tokyo i filled up my suitcase with Gundams from Bic Camera, lol I'm going back to Japan early 1018, can't wait!
Trashcans are really, literally, non existent. I've been there before and everyone simply keeps their trash with them until they get home and dispose of it then. And yet, the streets and public places are always so, so clean. Major props to the Japanese. ^^
There are no smoking sections in some restaurants in Japan, such as at some chain restaurants. It probably depends on the size and type of restaurant. Not all restaurants in Japan have diners smoking there. Even on the streets, it is uncommon to see someone smoking while walking. (Except for that guy in Shinjuku walking behind Mikey...😆) In Tokyo, at some larger train stations, they even have smoking rooms. So that smokers can go smoke in them, without polluting the air for everyone else. There are a few at Tokyo Station. Odd to see, when there is a glass enclosed room full of people smoking. I doubt people usually smoke randomly out in public, since littering is prohibited and people actually try to follow that rule.
I'm late. People already commented about the Ginger flavor Kit Kat, the lack of trash cans, the masks, how Christmas is not a big deal in Japan, more like a "holiday" than family wise... There's not much left to say. I took JLPT N5 and N4 a long time ago. I studied a lot for N3 but didn't attend the test. If I was not locked up in my room 24/7, Japan and South Korea would be definitely my first destinations.
I have to say it : you touched those fruits wayyy too much! My mom would always scold me for touching fruits in stores because it spoils them! Anyway, good video! And if you guys want to see the Shibuya scramble crossing without a soul, go there at 4 am on New Year'eve! Been there last year and my friends and I were the only one there (but lots of people on the subway at that hour that day and in the streets too!)! I regret not taking pictures of that place, empty, in the early morning!
Mikey, download the application called Hyperdia to your phone. It allows you to input your departure point and destination and time. And it will show you how to get where you want.
CarlaLovesTer Japanese are very conscious about cleanliness in Public so as much as possible no skin contact is the best. (One of the reasons why we wear facemasks)
I just found your channel and I'm binge watching all your videos, they're so much fun! I would love to go to Japan but I'm terribly allergic to shellfish, do you think it's possible to eat there without having shellfish? I can eat fish, but no crustaceans or mollusks.
I went to Japan a few years ago and the tour guide told us the reason there aren't trash cans anywhere is because there were a few incidents of bomb threats and explosions years back and the government decided to remove all trash receptacles in all public areas.
gosh I read that kit kat flavor and it sounds weird. I'm not sure how to translate the first part, though I was able to read it and it literally says something like "the hot heart is warmed up .....then under that it says ginger flavor. Though I can read it, I'm not quite sure what it says on the sakura part, did it by chance come with a sakura flavor tea bag maybe??
not an Orange, they are sumo mandarins (I am not sure if they have a different name in Japan) and they are so yummy, they are pretty expensive in Australia too
I assume you're using a selfie stick when you're out walking in the streets and around stores. What kind of device are you using to record with the selfie stick? Gopro? Phone?
the majority of the restaurants that allow you to smoke I've realised are the Chinese cuisine/ owned businesses. All other Japanese restaurants I visited had no smoking whatsoever
You're such a likeable person.
He looks like a great travel partner. Which is ironic considering he always travels alone.

The cold stone staff are so cute! They put me in xmas mood all over again. 😂 Mikey next time go up to Starbucks in Shibuya and shoot the crossing from there. The view of the busy scramble is spectacular! 😍

Mikey, I love it. Great video, my heart belongs to Japan.
You rock Mikey Chen! Great weird video.

New Years is much more important and family get together on New Years
I have to admit, when the coldstone creamery staff started singing jingle bells, it reminded me of the scene at the end of A Christmas Story where Ralphie's family goes to the chineses restaurant and get caroled... somewhat successfully.

That was awesome. Jingle bells in Japanese! You must work out like a fiend! That’s a lot of dumpling for one man! I hope you had a Merry Christmas. If you’re ever in San Antonio Texas we should eat!😎
Japan: clean and japanese is polite…
polite = 100%... clean... hmmm... Shinjuku ruined it for me... too many trash on the street
CarlaLovesTer too many tourists from their noisy neighbor...
The Japanese polite enough to not tell you they are bothered by your appearance and difference that's what it usually is. Speaking out about what we really think is considered impolite and stand off-ish.
You're awesome!
CritiqueCat lol! Are you this upset all the time? I get you mate but you are so funny. Hahahaha
That was so sweet. thanks for uploading
i have always wanted to go to tokyo mike thanks for showing what to expect
I laughed so hard when they sing jingle bell in a Japanese accent that is pretty good.
I love your videos and the music is awesome keep the videos coming and be safe
Mikey, you're not supposed to touch the expensive fruit, you showed your "tourist-ness" there.
Not just tourist-ness, I think Mikey doesn't do grocery shopping back home. You are not suppose to poke or squeeze the fruits and vegetables because you will spoil them.
Stupid
Mikey , this is so much fun !
Whatever you're eating at the end looked yummy!
Oooh, I saw Bic Camera. Last summer when i was in Tokyo i filled up my suitcase with Gundams from Bic Camera, lol I'm going back to Japan early 1018, can't wait!

you are so cute. well done on travelling alone. u seemed to have had an amazing time.
Hey Mikey! May be some other comment already said it, but that 3:49 Kit Kat was hot ginger flavour. I like your videos :)
You are adorable, and a humble person
awwww.... so fun! that ice cream place!

You are like this guy I come across on a channel about wankle engine. He keeps condemning the engine like you are going on about Japan.
Pathetic.

Shibuya's crossing is even busier and more crowded than Shinjuku's. At night Shinjuku is a dream.
the weird orange is called mexerica in Brazil, is really easy to peel and eat. a good snack
Love these videos, they make me want to go.
that song was so great :D
If it's $14 don't poke it!
How beautiful
I can relate with the Shinjuku station area hahahahahaha, got lost EVERY TIME i go there
Should try Shanghai on Christmas Eve. I couldn't cross the street because there were so many people coming across the other way!
The guy at Coldstone sounded like one of the Chipmunks! Lol!
Most logistically efficient country I've ever seen.
4:45 this guy's bart simpson outfit rules
I love your channel came across it by accident u are very entertianting to me
Mikey, download the application called Hyperdia to your phone. It allows you to input your departure point and destination and time. And it will show you how to get where you want.

hey mike what do you like most about tokyo?

In Japanese restaurants there is a certain time in the day they allow you to smoke at
What's the background music?
Oh, No.... You have just missed "Tsubame Grill" at 9:28 ..... One of my favorite restaurant in Tokyo...
I've tried that waffle shop in Shibuya Mark City. One of the best, especially the cheese.

the majority of the restaurants that allow you to smoke I've realised are the Chinese cuisine/ owned businesses. All other Japanese restaurants I visited had no smoking whatsoever
