I bought this set BECAUSE it is a police station! A few bad actors wotn stop me form showing support for the thousands who keep society running. Kudos to LEGO for releasing this. Next, can we have a hardware store?
@@RetroDude-jw8vz and law and order is just a tv show. copaganda is copaganda. and the best propaganda functions exactly like this. you may have the critical thinking skills to understand why police are dangerous and unnecessary, but judging from the comments on here it sounds like most lego fans do not.
The story Lego designed is that the newspaper guy is trying to sell more copies of his newspaper and to have better headlines to sell more copies he decides to start stealing donuts so that he can start to post about it in his newspaper. and it is his apartment that is above the donut shop and the hook contraption is how he is committing the crime. Lego has a very nice in depth look at this set on their official youtube
There actually is a character to run the newsstand, namely the donut thief. You should watch the designers video (LEGO's channel), because they give you a pretty hilarious story behind the set.
I can’t believe so many people in our community haven’t built modulars yet. They’re addictive! I want every one. 🙂 It’s okay that it wasn’t your favorite Ryan. Good to give it a go. I had fun watching you stream it. I think It’s quite pretty. For city-builders, it’s wonderful to have a police station that is enclosed and up to par with other modulars.
Ryan, the “crook” is the newspaper seller. And the story is that he wasn’t getting sales so he decided to steal to get sales. He might not even be the crook it could be the bird on the windowsill. Either way the guy is the newspaper vendor
Hey Ryan I doubt you’ll see this but in case you do: Thank you so much for the deal on this set it was only missing like 4 pieces and I was able to get those from the rest of my collection. (One of those pieces was actually missing in your video)
Donut their runs the news stand. The laundry Mat sign is fo the Laundry Mat that is hooked to the bank , which money is “ laundered” . Your right with the Modular it defiantly looks better hooked to other ones.
For me *Pro:* I absolutely love the police station as it feels like a police station in an urban center and not the same white and blue building that have been pretty much every police station to this point, it looks like a fantastic building. *Con* It basically is just this building, the sliver of buildings on either side didn't feel particularly special at all, with the bookshop set there were two buildings that were more or less the same size and while neither is anywhere close to the size of just the police station neither felt like an after thought. I would rather not have the police station as front and center and instead merge the two side buildings into a single building, or have JUST the police building and bring the price point down accordingly. Although I feel like Lego wants to sell this set at a particular price and put in the other stuff to make it seem worth the value, I mean it is a modular system so you can add other buildings. That or they wanted to make an art statement with the building being right in the center as the main focal point
I agree about everything you said and I kinda wish it was just one larger police station on the 32x32 base plate without the squished buildings on both sides. I think they designed it the way they did so that it works as a stand alone set with the story element too even though these sets are made to be put next to other modulars.
Ryan, Soap Suds is the name of the laundry shop from the brink bank modular (10251). And the next irony is, that it is a place, where you can wash your money.
i don't now if anyone noticed but soaps and suds is one of the little buildings in another lego modular set, i think it's the bank but i'm not sure ! It's a little easter egg from the designers.
Is this the only modular that you have ever reviewed Ryan? I would really appreciate reviews on Boutique Hotel, Bookshop, and Assembly Square as those are the ones I have my eyes set on and we could use your critical eye and taste in the modular space!
The soap suds references the cleaners that came with the brick bank, and she was laundering money, which is ironic, considering there's an ad for her business on the side of the police station
the thing to consider is that LEGO is a Danish company. Over here in europe, the BLM protest seem to have ended as there wasnt any mainstream coverage of any isues with police brutality, mainly because most of our policemen aren't armed. so, similar with other discrepancies like the sesame street age rating, europe is separate to the US in many weird ways
I’m thinking about buying a modular to go with my Daily Bugle and I think this is the one I’m gonna go with because in my opinion it feels the most like a New York building from all the ones currently on shelves.
I personally think that the donut-lure stick thing is for the police to have, not the crook. Since he is a donut thief, the cops lure the crook in, but, the crook does have a secret hole underneath his bed so it may be going both ways, how ever the buyer prefers.
Literally the whole green building’s interior is just used as the police station what the heck! That makes no sense in real life. Why didn’t they just expand the police station to incorporate that width?!?!?
No underlying sentiment here: I have NEVER pushed my doors in enough to lock them into place. In fact I discovered this was an actual possibility within this video - perhaps keep that in mind. - Love the vids ♥️
I personally love this set and I am not a huge fan of modulars. The fact that there are a few buildings on the side helps you act out the parts if you only have the one building and the time setting really fits it.
It's cool and all but I really am just interested in star wars legos I still like the video and all because it looks cool and since I'm never buying it it's cool to see what it looks like built
Saying that because there was a problem with the police in the us and then not getting a police LEGO set is really dumb and its like saying that you don't like the President so you won't buy the mini-scale White House
The box for this set is so boring and really doesn't work. However, I think it's a fine modular. Definitely not one of the best ones, but a perfectly good build.
Ryan, the irony is that the donut thief is publishing stories about himself. HE is the owner of the newsstand.
Yeah, I think the donut on a stick is him trying to lure in the donut thief
Austin Gates watch the freaking designer video, it tells a lot
yes and the fishing pole is for him to steal donuts as his bed lifts up to show hole in the floor above the donut shop ,nothing to do with the police
@@BeiggoMC I’m just saying that is what it looks like, chill dude
@@austingates3623 i wasn’t raging dude, i understand
Never have I heard someone compliment a bathroom so well
Because LEGO almost never includes bathrooms in their sets. The majority of sets that do have them are ones like the modular buildings
They should make star wars Coruscant or Jedi Temple modulars
I wish they made a kamino in lego
Annual sets in the multi level style of Ninjago City but it's scenes from Coruscant instead
Yeah the temple and Kamino will be nice 👍in lego!!
Nah they’ll never give us something we want
Totally would buy it
Designer: we were going for a 1940s-50s look for the police station
Ryan: there's a tape recorder in the interrogation room, think its from the 80s 😂
The crook runs the newstand he is stealing donuts for a news article headline then selling the newspapers
deep. nice!
The "rookie" is a younger Chase McCain
I bought this set BECAUSE it is a police station! A few bad actors wotn stop me form showing support for the thousands who keep society running. Kudos to LEGO for releasing this. Next, can we have a hardware store?
The Soap Suds sign is an Easter egg for the Brickbank laundromat 👍
Why are people getting mad over a LEGO police station . I swear they’re probably gonna cancel LEGO 😐
because it normalizes the racist institution that is policing.

Replace the bakers with an extension to the station, could put a chiefs office and more realistic desk area
Lmao the like to watch ratio is ridiculous. Police are heroes
I really love this modular. But maybe the set would have been better if it was two buildings not three facades.
I wish they made a skyscraper modular.

Yes. I was watching the building stream and this looks really good can't wait
I think the room in the attic of the news stand building is meant to be an evidence room
Getting this set tomorrow! Also plan on picking up the book store!

Dude. The donut thief is the newspaper salesman...
"It is what it is"....new catchphrase?

I want that set so much, jeez its such a nice set. Personally think it was underrated
Is no one going to mention the unprinted Minecraft wolf heads on the top?

its not the best one but I'm so much happier to have this one rather than the bookstore, like that was a good set but this one looks way better.
nice pka reference
I have some creator buildings from around 5 to 10 years ago but I love the look of this old 50s 60s building style so im heading into the modulars!!!
Do you do LEGO ninja go sets? If so, can you do a review of the LEGO ninjago city gardens set?
I might get this set. I just can not build it because i literally have no room for it. 😔
Yes! I feel the same way. I am so tired of everyone complaining that it’s a police station, it’s like get over it people.
The female cop is a chief. I really like the donut shop. Keep up the good work!

Very nice Ryan very nice

It needs more minifigures
It’s just kinda meh in my opinion. Not a bad build, but it’s not that exciting, especially compared to past modulars.
Its the depressed plant
Is this a sign of how poor Lego Starwars is this year that @mandrproductions is being modular buildings
Dont all have to be starwars. This is a really cool set.
