Your clear instructions with repetitions of each step make Banjo Clog, along with Marching Jaybird very straightforward to learn. Getting my fingers to learn the sequences takes a little time, but being able to pause and replay the video makes this as painless as it could be. Thank you for taking the time and trouble to post such excellent lessons on UA-cam - I'll try some of your others when I've mastered these two!
This is one seriously cool lesson.....I've almost got it down and plan to try all the other three finger songs. It would help in further development if an overall analysis of the Dock Boggs style....tunings and keys...was available.
Not far off. Poole played in the same tuning and used all these chord shapes, but Poole didn't play rolls all the time like in this tune. He'd play a bass note and then play index and middle at the same time for the chord and then fill in with rolls. If you can play this tune and listen to Poole's records though you wouldn't have any trouble figuring out the basics. Poole used this same tuning for many different keys, by the way.
Hey Chris, love your videos! New banjo player here. Do you have any videos or have you done any lessons of Wild Bill Jones? Thanks for everything you do!!
Jesse Landry Not on that tune, sorry! If you want the Dock Boggs version it’s in regular G tuning except your main chord is an E minor 2-0-0-2. Played thumb lead.

Thanks so much for this- love Dock Boggs, and the way you teach it. Do you take requests?!
You ever do any of Charlie Poole numbers ? This was his tuning too which im sure you know.
Is the type of picking Dock used for this tune similar to the way Charlie Poole played the banjo? Just wondering.
