@TechDweeb They need to give everyone free ssd upgrade. Their communication regarding the whole situation was terrible. They pretended for weeks that it wasn't an issue
I feel like we need somewhat of a love child between the Legion Go and GPD WIN 4/Aya Neo Slide. Something where we can have mouse and keyboard out the box, have some VR connectivity with the detatchable controllers. More or less an All-in-One design. I feel like they could make a controller hookup where we could have a standard game controller on one hand and flip it around and reattatch the contollers into a mouse (funky as it may be). I feel like if a company makes a system like this, it should end up being a strong competitor against even the updated steam deck.
Love the humour infused with the personal anecdotes and the information that you're conveying! I hope Asus and Lenvovo succeed, only to push Valve to make a better Steam Deck 2. I have a feeling we'll be seeing you doing a video of the Steam Deck OLED in the near future?
For these devices, 1080 or 900p is ideal, if someone wants better resolution in older games, he/she can use AMD Virtual Super Resolution which adjusts it to 2K or 4K via SSAA But even if Windows is bad, u can use amd fluid motion will and for sure Windows will get FSR 3 first
Great review! I own the AOKZOE A1 and was on the fence on whether to switch to the Go, but most reviews were non-committal or lukewarm which is in itself a red flag. Thank you for clearly saying the Go is not for you. I don't think it's for me either.
Good analysis. I think Valve is right in stating openly that apus have to improve drastically to really make a new level of performance possible and to be really viable batteries would need to do that aswell.
Maybe. I think efficiency is needed more than battery size though. If we could get ARM efficiency on X86 chips we'd have all the battery we need with the tech we already have. We're moving in that direction, it's just taking a long time.
You know if best buy offers shipping on the open box options? I'm deciding on which other handheld I should purchase for my sibling around that lower cost. My 1tb go was about $830 shipped (would've had to wait a full month if opted for the 512g version, they said@@ADDMEONPSN
I have an ally and like it a lot. It was a gift. I may eventually just get this just for the screen and use controller tablet style with xbox controller. Playing like that is super appealing to me.
I don't know why companies are trying to take on the Steam Deck with higher resolution screens. You don't have the battery capacity to support those resolutions -- Valve would have been using those resolutions in the first place were it not for the battery hit.
I was waiting for this unit to come out and I was actually at Best Buy on release date hoping they had one to buy but they didn’t and I’m actually happy I didn’t order it. I’m not a PC gamer so I actually wanted for emulation because of the big screen but I recently just bought a mini PC with a Ryzen 7 and windows has a lot of issues running emulator. I’m sure it’s because I’m not taking the time to adjust the settings properly but I don’t want to go through that on a handheld PC that’s almost $800. Now you have convinced me that I made a better decision going for an Odin 2.
Saw this today at Best Buy and I came so close to getting it. I was held back by the credit card debt I still have to pay. Once it's paid off I'm definitely getting this.
I just got mines today and I am playing around with it and I love it one of the best handheld devices I ever had I have the playstation portal remote player I haven't touched it yet this one gonna be my go to game
It is not in my experience. With Steamdeck you have a smoother and more pleasant experience in almost all aspects, that you can’t have with Legion. I have both and I can’t see many reasons to prefer a Legion go, but it’s still a wonderful and powerful device, so yeah, enjoy!
I would like to use it, with external input and output devices, for video editing. Then I could say if I like it or not. This video review feels honest and that's all I ask for. Thanks for sharing.
Ive had mine for about 4 days now and am loving it. Regardless of fps my main thing i needed was a nice big screen. I have an s23 ultra with a 7" screen and IMO its too small to actuqlly enjoy gaming which is why i couldnt go with a steamdeck or ally.
Aspect ratio matters a lot bc screens are measured diagonally. 7” on the S23 ultra is not the same as 7” on the deck. The OLED deck also has 7.4” now btw
Crowded space? I count 3 real contenders and a handful of $1000+ devices no one buys. But being overly picky aside, it is a shame this one missed the mark. The lack of trackpads on the Ally are what killed it for me. The customization the Steam Deck offers is still the best thing about it in my opinion (and there's a lot to like, but bla bla bla don't need me singing its praises) Also, why are they putting super high res screens on handhelds? The Steam Deck's 800p screen is solid overall. I can see an argument for 1080p, but 1600p!?!?!? No. That is a stupid waste of resources that serves only to make the handheld worse via bad battery life. What game is even going to hit that target? This is an issue with phone makers as well. Sticking high resolution displays into devices that don't need them. We hit diminishing returns with phone screens back in... mid 2010? But whatever. Lenovo is allowed to waste their R&D budget on pointless features.
…my go playing mario kart 8 deluxe…without tweaking…no stutter…full rate…oversized screen…vivid n sharpie sharp sharp…love it as much as my ayn odin 2…i do not stream…i do offline…i dont like steamdeck…it is very ugly…
What do yo mean its a gimmick? Its basically a mouse. All pcs need a mouse. It's not a gimmick if you use it on other stuff that you do on your pc. SMH
@jbach43 i dont know it gets me all the time when somebody says it's gimmicky because it works. I play emulator games on my LeGo and it's just easier transferring files using fps mode.
the resolution of the screen is actually brilliant because it enables crisp upscaling since it's a multiplier of 800. so for demanding titles you go 1280x800 native and upscale it to the 1600 resolution and it will be a much better result than for instance on the ally.
NO, maybe in a year with better software. Buying the new Steam Deck Oled today, will play my new AAA games on my PC gaming rig or gaming laptop. Have many other gaming devices so no need for a expensive Windows handheld thats bit rubbish.
Yup. Been working on the physique for my 2nd channel SwolDweeb, where I review protein powders and lifting straps (same style as my tech reviews). Stay tuned!.
I was initially intrigued with it due to the FPS Mode but the more reviews I've seen of it, the more substantial issues kept popping up (poor battery life, janky software, nearly no use cases where the high refresh rate would be taken advantage of, etc.). With the added fact that the OLED Steam Deck just got released where they focused more on the longevity of gameplay sessions i.e. better battery life, better thermals and all while keeping the price to be as affordable as possible, the FPS Mode gimmick just doesn't hold up to be a real system seller, y'know?
I just got mine today after going through 2 rog ally’s. Right away I’m blown away with this thing! It’s much faster and more stable to my eyes so far. I was second guessing the purchase due to bad reviews, but I’m glad I went through with it.
I love the ROG and the Go but I often pick up the Go more often due to the bigger screen and refresh rate. ROG I usually bring with me when traveling unless I want the bigger screen for productivity work.
You Should go thru the AVGN (angry video game nerd) route. and just give your feedback on old school games, I'm not saying I don't like the Tech stuff I love it, but I think you have the humor, creativity and personality to surpass his channel going that route. You could totally pull it off
Use lossless scaling which improves FPS by A LOT without losing any visuals.. And for AUDIO use the FX audio .. you can download.. the audio improves to a whole new level
Hey Dweeb, can you give us like a list of low, requirement games? maybe an episode on it. I saw the other episode about it, but it didn't have stuff like Bot Vice...
Glad you where honest in the end the things you didn't like you REALLY didn't like,I don't disagree with any of it. Gimmicky joycons, windows finicky with games and battery life. But for me a casual couch player with bigger hands, none of these where an issue, going to get one for my birthday!
Possibly. My biggest gripe is the hand feel which can't be updated. Although I hope they sell non-fps-mode joycons, that would be a great 'update' because then it'd be way more comfortable.
Thank you for mentioning the touch pad. I was hoping it'd be useful like the Steam Controller. That's what I really care about for FPS games, but since this sucks, Deck it is. Thanks for mentioning that. Only reviewer I've seen to talk about gaming on it, even if it's just one sentence.
They should make joycons with no back buttons as a separate payment or removable back buttons and move the placement for the buttons or a premium joycon of some sort 😊❤
@@TechDweeb Honestly, unless it's more powerful than the Deck and looks better too, I'm not getting another PC handheld. None of the competition has a "point" to them. Hell, Valve is probably going to rush an upgrade out any time now and they already have at least an OLED version.
im gonna agree with Candy, while I watch reviews and all, I still like to make my own choices, just using the reviews for info and all that. I made my choice on the Legion Go the day I played with one in store , I had my ROG ally with me, still within return time lol)returned the Ally, and bought the Open Box Legion Go they had in stock, took it home, it updated, and has been great since. personally I find it very comfortable in hand, the fan noise isnt noticable to me, even detached the controllers fit my hands right (switch joycons feel to small to me, and I have small hands) and while a 1440 screen is overkill here, its beautiful when watching movies. and you can always drop it to 1980x1200 or 1280x800. and a lot of the time on battery I just drop the refresh to 60. now mind you I never tried the original software the Go came with so maybe it was bad in the begining. but like all the others, the software improved over time
Keep in mind, since they detachable joycons, unlike the Asus Ally, wouldn't that also mean that they replaceable with other peripherals? Meaning, what's to stop Lenovo or even 3rd party vendors from making better attachable joycons? As long as the interface is there, why not? Food for thought, right? The option will always e there!
the legion go is a amazing handheld (like it more then my steam deck) most handheld doenst hold up battery life anyway on demanding games plus most of the time like my switch i have the power cable in so i dont mind it
It’s kinda jacked. They’re basically testing the market and device with the 16GB… sell a ton of them… then this Xmas or next they’ll price line the device with a 32 upgrade. Didn’t even have peripherals ready to go. C’mon Lenovo! I’d rather go OneXPlayer2, OneXFly, Kun or Win Mini. You can get either 32 or 64GB of ram, the fly and Mini are 120hz screens… and you can get up to 4TB installed without having to open the device.
The deck need a Apu update too. Why are the using console rules on PC is beyond me. It would make some sense if deves actually cared enough to make stuff run but they don't. Also congrats on 40k subs your channel grew so quick.
Input delay, bad speakers, bad dpad, no Vrr, legion space crashes, dead zone on joystick, uncomfortable to use, heavy, lots of software glitches that ruin the experience. The only thing I like is the big display everything else sucks. I’m returning it and keeping my ally for AAA games and my OLED galaxy tab s8 plus for emulation and remote play.
can it be used like a console hooked to TV via HDMI while you sit on the couch and play with the detachable controllers ? I am surprised that this is not shown in all the reviews i watched..as this would be a nice feature for the average consumer. I also think you underestimate the versatility of this device as you focused on the handheld gaming aspect only. But this device can be a pretty cool "all-in-one" device for someone who wants to have something that can be used as a mini pc for the office / travel with windows, as a tablet with android apps, as a gaming handheld, and as a console that can be connected to TV(?) for couch gaming with the detachable controls. Seems pretty cool to me and i can't think of other device that try to do all this at once (are there any?). The other devices you mention like the steamdeck can't do that.
Yup! You can definitely plug this into your TV and use the controllers on the couch. I guess we don't mention it because it's a pretty obvious thing, but you're right, it probably should get mentioned more often. The steam deck can do that, except for the detachable controllers, you'd need an extra controller for couch mode.
I was thinking about getting the SteamDeck and doing the 32GB RAM mod, but I'm interested in the Go ATM and hopefully someone can do a RAM mod for that also. IMO this should've had at least 24GB of RAM so the vRAM can be set at 8, leaving 16 for the system. Shame there's no 2TB option, but the 1TB is a fairly priced upgrade at $50. Micro Center offers 2TB upgraded units for $800 but then again, they don't ship...... Hopefully Lenovo can redesign the joycons for comfort and make the d-pad more pronounced. The screen res is a bit overkill, 1080p would've been fine.
@themadatheist1976 I’m new to gaming pcs I only had ps4 and want to choose between steam deck oled and lenovo legion go, the qualities I’m looking for are better performance and battery and comfort, while Lenovo has better performance does it have any major flaws? I heard the lenovo system is a bit glitchy and uneasy and the same with game customization and having to update drivers, other than these issues are there any more or it’s just this? I want something to be guaranteed, would you please be kind enough to give me some advice about it, I’d really appreciate it
I'm impressed, but I still have a question that unfortunately the video didn't answer. I want to know if you can also play Spyro with this device? Not just the original PS1 version but also all subsequent titles. It's very, very important to me to be able to play Spyro, so I definitely have to be sure before I buy the device!
I liked the video, but dont agree with all your conclusions, granted most are personal preference, I never understood the complaint that the Legion Go controllers were uncomfortable to hold, either attached or not, I find them just right, I have smaller hands BTW and a lot of times I prefer to play with the controllers detached and the Go on the table (reminds me of playing on the Wii :>). even hooked it to my computer monitor with is an older 1080p Samsung, and used the Go as my main PC for the day, did a lot better than I expected. overall I am very happy with mine, makes a nice addition to my other more mobile gaming PC, a Asus ROG Flow z13 2022 (i9, 4gb 3050ti, 16gb ram and 1tb storage)
very biased review. I get 40ish fps with mix of high and medium setting 1200p on red dead redemption 2 . Same as ally , I hope they can offer 900p option which would be even greater .
Strange. Your comment prompted me to try Red Dead. I am on a medium/low mix, 1200p, performance TDP, and I get 30fps when riding the countryside and 24fps in San Denis. What is your secret?
@@TechDweeb maybe update to the latest bios and graphics drivers . I didn’t do much except copy the setting on my rog ally . PS : digital foundry uploaded a video about explaining every setting on RDR2 long time ago , it’s worth to check it out.
Hey! Hey! Onion OS V4.2.3 has been out for 2 weeks now!! I hope I don't brick my Minis again, they were a PIA to unbrick. It's going to be nice being able to swap cards around a Mini and a Plus, and I hope they make it compatible with the next clamshell design Miyoo is working on too! Now THAT would be a feat. What if someone, in secret, created a master OS to rule all handheld emulators... could it be done?
I have both. But I just purchased them. So I'll see how they do. PS: I like the Windows based handhelds as I can play most of my games that I have on my Alian ware Laptop
Legion Go is far more innovative and it's way better than the Steam Deck, even with that new revised deck. It hasn't even been a whole month for Legion and the updates will roll out to make Legion hand held a way better choice.
I disagree. I have both. And 90% of time I choose Steamdeck. The only advantages of Legion are a bigger display and more power. For ALL the rest Steamdeck is way better. Better ergonomics, better screen (oled), better battery, lighter, Steam OS, great in streaming, better controller and better aptic feedback, way better trackpads. So according to my needs Steamdeck is the best device and objectively for 90% of cases it is the best handheld experience at all.
@@AtrusDesign while I dont have a steamdeck, I do plan on getting one, but looking for at the 256GB LCD version, as the updates arent enough for me to justify the extra $$ (since I have the Legion Go already). the OLED is nice, Granted but the IPS screen that Lenovo used is rather nice color wise, not quite OLED nice, but enough for me (when I am im around both main types of screens all the time. Oled isnt as impressive as it once was to me, even Amoled doesnt quite do it anymore) id use the steam deck for lower end gaming mostly and exploring the Linux side of gaming. maybe after I get one i'll agree more with the comments, but as to ergonomics, most keep saying how bad the Legion Go is in that regard, yet I love the feel of it. only other handheld PC like this I can compare to is the ROG ally, and I prefer the feel of the Go. yes it has more weight but, the overall feel is nicer
I went to the gaming exhibition and played with legion go. One of my worries is that the web browsing speed was so slow that I thought I was using a 4th gen i3 chip. I want to believe that it was a wifi problem (since hundreds of devices are sharing the wifi), but even considering the fact, the speed was so slow. Could you share your experience as a window laptop/tablet?
I have a two tb version of the legion go since november 3rd and this thing blows the steam deck out of the water. I have not had problems with slow internet speed at all but I'm running 1.2g speeds.
I'm looking to play Older games. Like new vegas on my breaks at work can I download games and play offline?? I really like the switch for the fact I can do that but if I can't with any of these mobile PC I'll be sad and out of money
If you download them at home then, yes you can play them offline if supported. (supported as in singleplayer and not online) you don’t need wifi to play most games but in a case like roblox or fortnite then no. in your case I think new Vegas is singleplayer so you should be able to.
After checking out the local price.. Yeah no, it is not worth it. Even the highest tier OLED Steam Deck is 110 dollars less, with the mid-tier Steam deck being $255 less. Cheapest Steam Deck is $420 less. The ROG Ally is ~$100 less.
I just ordered the legion go I currently have the steam deck i hope I haven’t made a mistake in buying the legion go i just wanted to see if i would like it more than the deck my only concern is that its windows powered
@@abcdefgh-hy9op I saw that. I already installed the update but haven’t changed the setting yet. Not sure if it will affect the battery in the long run. My ally charges really fast but it also seems to die faster than ever. 🤷
@@yoanhg421did you notice the lack of vrr in go compared to ally? Would you say it's a deal breaker? I can't seem to decide which one to get because of this but i really like the giant screen of go
@@naavidmorshed5516 I don’t notice the difference. I went from the Deck to the Ally to the Go. The big screen is awesome. With 144hz I don’t see any tearing. Recently I switched integer scaling on and the games at 800p look much better. Running the screen at 60hz also saves battery. It really depends. I recommend the Go. If you don’t like it, return it. The only thing I didn’t like much was the little wobble on the controller. Can be fixed with a little piece of tape. You can also get a shell. And the deadzone on the sticks, but Lenovo say a fix should be coming mid December which is this week or the next. The legion screen look very big. But after a while you get used to it and it’s just comfortable. I was always squinting at the Ally screen everytime I had to do anything with the windows settings.
I spent all day yesterday and today watching reviews of the legion go and the deck OLED to see which one would be better for me. I'm in love with how the legion go screen looks, but thanks to you I was able to see more than that and realize that yeah as you said it is a good attempt but maybe not good enough and as a LCD steam deck owner you helped me decide to get the OLED steam deck, instead of the legion go, so thank you! Maybe in the future the legion go will improve or maybe even the second generation of it will surprise us and be a more solid attempt. Thanks! You got a new sub!
@@SHMlKE I've never had anything oled either so yeah I'm sure the deck is the best choice right now, again the size of the legion go screen is amazing and I would really love to get it just for that but it's just not justified I think, at least not right now. Good luck tomorrow with the oled! Hopefully it won't go out of stock like the lcd one!
Try to emulate Zelda Skyward Sword HD or the original Wii, it's not important, I've never seen anyone try to emulate it, and it's also a way to see if it is compatible with the Lenovo controls.

I think the lenovo legion go is an awesome device. I would like it to be available in south africa but i prefer this over the ally
For these devices, 1080 or 900p is ideal, if someone wants better resolution in older games, he/she can use AMD Virtual Super Resolution which adjusts it to 2K or 4K via SSAA
But even if Windows is bad, u can use amd fluid motion will and for sure Windows will get FSR 3 first

@TechDweeb the new Qualcomm chips are looking promising.

Nice! I got a 512gb open box from Best Buy for only $550. Luckily I already have a 1TB card from my destroyed steam deck 😢
Any problems from the open box purchase?

If emulation is your goal, the Odin 2 is 100% the way to go!

To me this is way better than a steam deck. I can't wait to get one!
Enjoy!
It is not in my experience. With Steamdeck you have a smoother and more pleasant experience in almost all aspects, that you can’t have with Legion. I have both and I can’t see many reasons to prefer a Legion go, but it’s still a wonderful and powerful device, so yeah, enjoy!
They actually sell a 2tb model as well. Not just 512gb and 1tb.
The screen is indeed glorious. If big screen is priority then this is 100% the best device.
well I guess that depends on how you like gaming on a 7" screen, for me it's too small to enjoy.@@mxsthxted
Aspect ratio matters a lot bc screens are measured diagonally. 7” on the S23 ultra is not the same as 7” on the deck. The OLED deck also has 7.4” now btw
well my coworker brought his deck in and to me the screen was pretty small, he fell in love with my Legion GO@@extra4542
Ayaneo Kun and the new MSI Claw dropping soon

I agree with you there. The Deck isn't a looker!
I have the Go and agree about FPS mode. It’s just a gimmick but I do love the screen
What do yo mean its a gimmick? Its basically a mouse. All pcs need a mouse. It's not a gimmick if you use it on other stuff that you do on your pc. SMH
@@innavoiglopez what he meant was (I believe) is to him its a gimmick, yeah its a lil weird at first but you adapt (or not) guess its not for everyone
The integer scaling isn't great though. The pixels have blurry edges, I don't think it's working properly here.
Yeah the interger scaling apparently isn't working properly just yet. There are workarounds to force it to work though.
NO, maybe in a year with better software.
Buying the new Steam Deck Oled today, will play my new AAA games on my PC gaming rig or gaming laptop.
Have many other gaming devices so no need for a expensive Windows handheld thats bit rubbish.
You need to go adjust your vram on the legion go to 6gigs. You will get better performance out of most games.
thats a good suggestion, I still have mine at 4gb to be honest and its fine so far for what I play

@@TechDweebcan't wait to see the JujiMufu and Renaissance Periodization collabs coming from that channel. 🤙
Yup. I'm with ya there.
Lenovo update just fixed a bunch of that stuff but I was fine with my Ayaneo Geek until I wanted the much bigger screen. Enjoying the Go now
I just got mine today after going through 2 rog ally’s. Right away I’m blown away with this thing! It’s much faster and more stable to my eyes so far. I was second guessing the purchase due to bad reviews, but I’m glad I went through with it.

Fine. No cake then.
I love the ROG and the Go but I often pick up the Go more often due to the bigger screen and refresh rate. ROG I usually bring with me when traveling unless I want the bigger screen for productivity work.
OYE! My rooms already clean, but dishes need work tbh 😂
You Should go thru the AVGN (angry video game nerd) route. and just give your feedback on old school games, I'm not saying I don't like the Tech stuff I love it, but I think you have the humor, creativity and personality to surpass his channel going that route. You could totally pull it off
Thanks for your thoughts on that. I'll give it some thought

Fps mode is not what u wanted. The answer to that would be to not use it. Wtf ....that's a wierd complaint
Glad you where honest in the end the things you didn't like you REALLY didn't like,I don't disagree with any of it. Gimmicky joycons, windows finicky with games and battery life.
But for me a casual couch player with bigger hands, none of these where an issue, going to get one for my birthday!
It will get better for the GO they will have a lot of updates to fix a lot of the problems and performance
Possibly. My biggest gripe is the hand feel which can't be updated. Although I hope they sell non-fps-mode joycons, that would be a great 'update' because then it'd be way more comfortable.

Why are you allowing a stranger’s opinions affect you? The Go is freaking amazing no matter what he thinks
im gonna agree with Candy, while I watch reviews and all, I still like to make my own choices, just using the reviews for info and all that.
Beautiful
I always think its a bone headed thing to put a screen and refresh rate on a handheld that it can't even handle
with an E GPU you could def hit those numbers
the problem whit those type of handled is the price, with a bit more money you can buy a laptop from msi.
I agree but not at that price.

Cancelled my Go order for a Deck OLED lol. It kept getting delayed in the UK anyways.
In your opinion, what is the best overall handheld pc on the market today?
Steam Deck.
Holy crap TD, I just noticed you hit 40K... you're Warhammer ready, congratulations.
OMG I didn't notice! Badass!
