I LOVE that the cop says that hes going to "help" him if he just admits that he commited a crime. The cop is going to be in court trying to prove he is guilty. He ain't helping them. he is attempting to put them in jail.

    2. Don't tell them that you know your rights.
    3. Don't get tricked by threats, cops can lie.
    4. Don't agree to a search, EVER.
    5. Don't just wait, ask "am I free to go?"
    6. Don't do shady stuff in public.
    7. Don't admit anything. Remain silent instead.
    8 Don't answer questions without a lawyer.
    9. Don’t let them in without a warrant.
    10. Don’t panic. Challenge misconduct in court.

***** Attracting them can come from just walking down the street while being Black, from wearing certain clothing, from living in a certain neighborhood, from the cop's temperament or demeanor that day.

    • @lifestraight
      @lifestraight 7 років тому +12

***** That's my point. That's why I'm saying you can't tell people not to do anything to attract them. Sometimes there's nothing you can do.

Stop and Frisk. It is an Illegal, but often used policing technique. It doesn't matter what you're doing when this method is being practiced on you. Just one more reason why knowing your rights as an American is so important.

    • @lifestraight
      @lifestraight 7 років тому +8

***** That's why I said "Sometimes" there is nothing you can do. There are certain things you can do to reduce your interactions with police but sometimes it's on the cop and not you. Sandra Bland did nothing wrong and she was violently assaulted and jailed. Eric Garner did nothing to wrong and was violently assaulted and killed.

I was in a speeding car when my friends and I got pulled over. Honestly, my friend, who is a law student, knew our rights. He always reminds us that cops are NOT "your friend." A cop's job is to prosecute you. Simple as that. That's their job. They try to get you to talk to incriminate you. Never admit ANYTHING (even if you know you were in the wrong). You give up your rights when you talk. If you get pulled over, keep your mouth shut and don't say anything unncessary.

    • @ronkampsen1098

May we politely suggest the following de-escalation for remedy?
THE TRUST IS COLLAPSED....in other words, your company is no longer granting them any more credit.
If the policeman is not lawfully investigating the crime on behalf of the male/female victim and is entering YOUR company jurisdiction without you summonsing them, then would it not be advisable to be politely placing YOUR public-servants/trustees under your notification that your company is charging $707 per hour/part-there-of for YOUR company time and also $717 for YOUR company performance?....and that any further communicating (verbal) and/ or corresponding (written) with your company, is with them accepting the terms & conditions of the commercial contract IN THE PRIVATE (the cop and their CHIEF and their POLICE UNION is now with PERSONAL liability.... because Notice-to-Agent-is-Notice-to-Principal....and also through JOINDER....and they also lose their qualified immunity)
This way, you are NOT resisting/refusing to obey/comply with their orders/demands/policy /questions, but instead, you are now willing to perform WITH THE CONDITION that payment is with your company immediately, because you have NO CONFIDENCE with them administrating YOUR company trust!
THE PUBLIC TRUST IS COLLAPSED...Why is YOUR company issuing them extra credit! Are YOU not the executor and the beneficiary of YOUR trust?...making them the trustees, whom are with their fiduciary obligation and duty-of-care to be NOT causing you injury nor damage nor loss nor harm.
Is THEIR job YOUR job? Is THEIR company policy YOUR company policy?
not unless and until they are PAYING for your company time & performance
THE CONSTRUCTIVE TRUST IS COLLAPSED...YOUR company is no longer performing free-of-charge!
You may be willing to pursue the matter through the small-claims-court and/or through arbitration which is held in-the-private because PUBLIC court is only for the PUBLIC servant.
YOUR TRUST FUND IS NOW WITH RESTORATION....YOUR company is now making money from every encounter with YOUR public-servants because the days of doing something with your trustees for free are over.

His "probable cause" was that he performed a pat-down of my backpack and felt water bottles. This means that pig would have searched me even if I was clean. I was minding my own business. That's the way most criminals think. In reality most are decent folk just making a living and trying to make it home at the end of the day.
Criminals are overexposed to dirty cops for obvious reasons. Criminals are easy prey. Courts are far less likely to believe criminals. Criminals are far less likely to report a crime even when perpetrated by police. Criminals usually have drugs that dirty cops can steal. Criminals usually have dirty money that dirty cops can steal. The most obvious reason why criminals deal with dirty cops more than anyone else is that cops usually aren't anywhere around unless called upon. The places that have the most police presence are typically places that have the most crime and criminal presence.
And we're not going to act like all dirty cops are dirty for their own benefit. There are cops out there who might plant drugs on a known domestic abuser to get him kicked up because they've been called by neighbors to the same house 15 - 20 - 30 times and they've consistently seen a women with black eyes and terrified children but the women refuses to ever tell them that her man has been beating her and sleeping with her daughters. Until her 14 year old is pregnant by the mom's stay at home boyfriend or the mother is killed or the 3 month old gets beaten to death because he wouldn't stop crying.
It's usually criminals that paint police with that broad brush and tell the lie that most are dirty. They would think that when they're always on the opposite side of the law. They may even start to believe it if they stay a criminal long enough.

PS-Be the BUSINESS man with the public-servants.....NOT the victim.
Why not use their dash-cam. and/or body-cam. for your benefit at court?

      @:Carlos-Javier: Wren
      Thank you for your reply.
...and thank you for the beer offer!
You will find that as you think(and act) like a business-man, you will become LESS impoverished because your public-servants(YOUR trustees) are NOT volunteers...so why should YOU be?
Welcome to the ever-increasing club of business-men whom no longer grant their time & performance for free.
Please enjoy living in the land of the free....Free to unlimited contracting-in-the-private (where all your business should be)

Wether you did something illegal is irrelevant. These rights are there to protect you. Believe it or not it is easy to implicate yourself unknowingly just by simply talking to law enforcement personnel. Our forefathers knew that and that is how the bill of rights was created. The British was a tyrannical government and if you think that the United States is not capable of being an oppressive and tyrannical government think again. The patriot act is a good example of our rights being slowly diminished by the government. No search warrant if it is terrorist related or national security issues. That is a very broad statement.

In addition. You should feel safe and secure in your home this includes your thoughts. Your thoughts are your personal property. They could be as illegal or unethical as they can be but no one has the right to pry out what you are thinking. As long as you do not act out anything that is against the law , your thoughts are yours alone. It is not being disrespectful or being uncooperative to law enforcement personnel, you are just playing it safe. Besides, if you already in trouble you do not need to get in more trouble. Remember anything you say can be used against you. The downside, anything you say cannot help you in any way shape or form. So...just shut up and let the lawyers do the talking.

Friends don't let friends get busted. Friends get the Busted video and show it to their friends. I purchased this video, showed it to my friends. They borrowed it, showed it to their friends. One of my friends had teens and they threw a Busted party for their friends.
I have a friend who got pulled over. Since he saw the Busted video many times (watched it himself, watched it with adult friends, watched it with his teens), he knew exactly what to do. (My friend definitely looks like a Brooklyn hipster, very much 420 even though he's not into that.) By following the instructions, the cop knew that my friend was safe, that he wasn't going anywhere and that he knew his rights. My friend got a warning.
Pro tip: Know what someone can see when you open the front door or back door to your apartment or house. Hang a privacy curtain, set-up a room divider or screen so that people can't easily peek inside when you open the door--especially important when you've got a Visitor wearing Blue (or Gray, or Tan...)
A neighbor called the cops on me. It was clearly harassment. The fools who were harassing me discussed calling the cops within earshot of me. I kept my cool and went into my apartment. I kept the window open, so I could hear what was going on outside. Since I knew that I was going to have a Visitor wearing Blue, I closed the doors to the bedroom and bathroom and pulled my privacy curtain. If I didn't have that privacy curtain, you could see into my living room when I opened up the front door. I got the idea to put-up a privacy curtain from a friend whose apartment had a similar layout to mine. So, when the cop knocked on my door and I opened up, there was nothing to see. (To the best of my knowledge, I don't have something that I shouldn't have. However, the ops are the cops. I had a cordial encounter with the police. The cop told me what to do about the harassing neighbor, and it worked. My neighbor stopped harassing me.

However, over the past 20 to 30 years, I/we ALL have seen such a huge and rapid decline in the behavior of cops that it clearly shows systemic problems. EVERY TIME, I was as courteous as I possibly could be, saying yes-sir, no-sir, etc. and they were ALWAYS decent to me and stayed within the boundaries of the (traffic) stop. That black police officer asked the boy if he was handicapped. That black officer doesn't even know what the word handicapped means nor does he know the full ramification of it. That officer has never had any encounters with disabled people. Nor does he have any friends or family members who are disabled. He most certainly should not expound on something he knows absolutely positively nothing about. That officer should use the word disabled not handicapped. The word handicapped is both very derogatory and both very offensive to people who are mentally challenged. You should use the word disabled and not handicapped. Those particular individuals have rights. And they must be properly respected at all times. These particular individuals are dignified human beings and they should be treated as such. These particular individuals are procuring employment in the local community. They are much more dependable and have fewer absentee problems than the average everyday individual. And they do whatever it takes to get the job done. Sure, there are some disabled individuals who are very slow at learning things. Just because they are slow at learning things doesn't necessarily mean that they can't do them. It just takes them longer to do them that's all. That police officer had absolutely positively no right at all to ask that boy if he was handicapped. He is not a doctor. He has absolutely positively no right at all to make that distinction or determination. You have to have a doctors degree or a psychology degree in order to determine if a person has a disability. You simply can't determine if a person has a disability just by looking at them. The average everyday person most certainly is not capable in determining if a person has a disability. That officer has absolutely positively no right to determine if that boy has a disability or not. He most certainly should not make any assumptions about anybody unless he knows their situation.
Matthew 7:1-6: Do not judge, and you will not be judged.
Because the judgments you give are the judgments you will get,and the standard you use will be the standard used for you.
Why do you observe the splinter in your brother's eye and never notice the great log in your own?
And how dare you say to your brother,Let me take the splinter out of your eye, when, look, there is a great log in your own?
Hypocrite! Take the log out of your own eye first, and then you will see clearly enough to take the splinter out of your brother's eye.
Do not give dogs what is holy;and do not throw your pearls in front of pigs,or they may trample them and then turn on you and tear you to pieces.
What that police officers needs to start doing is to start attending church this Sunday and to start reflecting upon what he has done. He needs to find a church where the Bible is taught and Jesus is the final authority. He needs to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as his Personal Lord and Savior or he will burn in hell.

The last four encounters I had with police. They either crumpled my ticket up then threw it on the ground. Or they wrote it out and didn't include the information to follow through on it. One time I helped my friend out who was being detained for vandalism (I just came and walked into the scene stating I was with him the whole time). They hand cuffed us, crumpled up the ticket. Threw it on the ground (in a mall at night). Then escourted each of us to separate exits and locked the mall up. I had no idea what was happening and I wasn't even able to pay the ticket until it was "public record". By then it turned into a warrant and I had to pay way more money and I'm not even sure if it's off my record. Then this other cop gave me a speeding ticket that mutliplied into 2 fee's some how. Now I owe $1300.00 for two speeding tickets I'm still paying off and I was picked out of a group of cars, where I was the one who got the speeding ticket. By the time I found out how to pay them off, the court already processed the issue and sent me to collections. I'm lucky my credit rating was pretty good or else I'd be s o l. Thanks for posting this great video. Remember, even if you know your rights, knowing your rights makes them more up set and prone to do things like the above I mentioned.

Here's my advice after 45 years of walking this earth..
    1) Don't do illegal **** in the first place.
    2) If you're pulled over or detained for something minor such as speeding or other traffic violation, be honest with the officer. The worst you'll get is a ticket. If you're honest and don't try make ridiculous excuses you just might be let off. Furthermore if you followed by advice for #1 you won't have to worry about drugs, alcohol or other issues - so don't sweat a traffic ticket, it's really not a big deal.
    3) If you're detained for something more serious - drugs, assault, trespassing, murder, weapons charge - especially if you know you are guilty... THAT'S when you pull out the 5th amendment and refuse to answer any questions without a lawyer present.
    4) If you were a VICTIM of a crime but the police detain you because they don't know any better - then be sure to inform the officer of three things immediately. a) Tell them in very clear terms that you were the victim and point out the perpetrator if possible . b) Point out any evidence c) Point out any witnesses. Evidence and witnesses are perishable, they tend to disappear quickly, often within minutes, so it's important to point it out now. After you've done this *then* and only then politely tell the police that you intend to offer your full cooperation but need to speak to a lawyer first.
Again, however, and most importantly.... don't do illegal stuff and you'll likely not have to worry about any of this in the first place.

D Whittz Yes, in certain situations. Sure, if you're arrested for something serious like homicide, drugs, firearms charges, assault, rape, etc. you should tell the police nothing other than to assert your right to a lawyer, even if you think are innocent. Also do not discuss your case with other people in jail cells, they can be informants. But in other cases you are putting yourself at a disadvantage if you clam up. Speeding is not a felony, just be honest with the office and the worst you'll get is a ticket. Also if you are a victim of a crime then the police need to know that, otherwise they may assume you were the perpetrator and they may miss evidence or witnesses that could exonerate you.

It may seem useless to resist a search if you don't think you have anything to hide. Sometime you may have left things there and forgot about them, and never know if a friend or someone left drugs or something illegal in your car. So its best to keep your stuff to yourself. Especially if they don't even have reason to go through your things. You have the right, one that many other places in the world don't have, so you might as well use it.

One wrong decision: Valery should not have opened the door for the police. Often a cop puts a foot between the door and the frame, preventing the door from being closed. Never open the door for the police. Never open the door for uninvited visitors.

And also never try to close the door when the officers foot is in the door because you could actually be charged with assault! So instead record them with your phone or camera even if they say no filming and keep telling them please leave my property, if you don’t have a warrant you cannot enter my house! And keep repeating no matter if the officer threatens you with an arrest
