Don't worry about missing references. They pulled from over seventy+ years of movies and games from Japanese/N. American/European nerd & pop-culture. Watch more movies. Maybe come back to this movie in a several years to see how many references you can catch. Movie suggestions: Back to the Future (trilogy), Excalibur, Terminator 1 & 2 (and no further), Iron Giant, Alien & Aliens, City of Lost Children, The Matrix, Conan the Barbarian, Tron.
The book version of the story is a little more refined, sticking mainly with references to the works of the 1980s and 1990s, whereas the film expanded to include more stuff from the 2000s and 2010s.
How did so many movies & video games agree to let them use so many characters? Only a big time director like Steven Spielberg can command respect from so many studios.
If you guys liked Ready Player One you'll probably also like Free Guy starring Ryan Reynolds. Same type of feel to it except instead of virtual reality it revolves around online gaming. Quite a fun movie.
Glad you guys loved this... You must not miss "Free Guy". It is awesome... you can find similar elements, but there is also "Ryan Reynolds" in it, the best... dont miss it, lovebirds... ❤
I loved this movie when it came out. It was so underrated though. I'm 54 and this game was a trip down memory lane for a lot of us older people, so yes, it was popular with us too. Great reactions!!!
This movie is for teenagers? Oh hell no.. this movie is for ppl who have been watching movies for over 30 years. First time i watches this movie i saw about 40 movie references, and everytime i watch it again i see more and more moviethings.
Fun fact: The lady who was with the Sixers is also Ghost from Ant-Man And The Wasp Hannah John-Kamen 1. The little ball is a Mad Ball 2. The big ninja star is from the movie Krull The Zemekis Cube is a reference Robert Zemekis the director of Back To The Future 3. The monster with 4 arms is Goro from Mortal Kombat
There are hundreds of references in the film, but there are hundreds more in the original novel by Ernest Cline. References they could not get for many different reasons. Cline, who you could call a "professional geek" started as a slam/performance poet doing all sorts of geeky verses, wrote a screenplay called 'Fanboys' about a group of friends making a pilgrimage to Skywalker Ranch to try and see Star Wars Episode 1 The Phantom Menace before it releases, and then wrote Ready Player One. Since then he has written the novels Armada and Ready Player Two (which explores what Halliday is in the OASIS, and is currently in development for a film version). The novel is very different from the film...but it is well worth a read. Or, if you like audiobooks, the audio was read by Wil Wheaton. I-r0k was played by T.J. Miller (Deadpool, Big Hero Six) which is why his voice is so familiar. Art3mis was indeed Olivia "Alicent Hightower" Cooke from House of the Dragon. Parzival aka Wade was played by Tye Sheridan, and if you have seen the later X-Men films, he plays the teenage Scott Summers/Cyclops...he can't get away from visors hiding his eyes! James Halliday/Anorak was played by Oscar-winner Mark Rylance. This was the third film he made with Spielberg. The first was The Bridge of Spies with Tom Hanks (which won Rylance his Oscar for Best Supporting Actor) and the second was the CGI animated film The BFG based on the Roald Dahl novel. Ogden Morrow/The Curator was played by Simon Pegg, an English actor known for his role Benji Dunn in the Mission: Impossible movies with Tom Cruise, The Coronetto Trilogy comedies he co-wrote (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End), playing Commander Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in the Star Trek "Kelvin Timeline" movies, and his small role as Unkar Plutt in Star Wars - Episode VII - The Force Awakens (he was in a huge suit in the beginning). Some references (and trivia): The magic spell for the Orb of Osuvox is from the 1981 film Excalibur, about the King Arthur legends...the Charm of Making. The fancy bladed weapon that cut off I-r0k's arm just in time was the Glaive, a mystical weapon from the 1983 sci-fi/fantasy film Krull. The gun that Parzival uses to shoot Art3mis to save her was a Colonial Warrior's Pistol from the 1978 version of Battlestar Galactica. The thumbs up the Iron Giant gives sinking in the lava is more Terminator 2 than Lord of the Rings. When Daito leaps from his ship and becomes Gundam to fight Sorrento's MechaGodzilla...he leaps from a Firefly-class transport like the ship Serenity from the Joss Whedon series Firefly. The Zemeckis Cube is a play on the Rubik's Cube puzzle (a huge thing in the 80s) and Robert Zemeckis, director of Back to the Future (and since Back to the Future was produced by Steven Spielberg, getting to use the DeLorean Time Machine was easy...plus, Parzival actually drives on in the book, and it is fitted with a Knight Rider red scanner that moves left to right and back, and a space for a Ghostbusters Nuclear Acelerator pack...because Ernest Cline actually created the exact same thing in the real world when he got his first check for Ready Player One, complete with a license plate that reads "Ecto 1". He would drive it to book signings, and even has let his friend George R.R. Martin (A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones) borrow it from time to time. The Holy Handgrenade is a reference to the Holy Handgrenade in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Art3mis's motorcycle is the motorcycle from the anime film Akira.
It's directed by spinburg, so any movie or franchise he had a hand in was a fair game. Plus, being Spielberg, im sure he has big name friends everywhere, so he likely just had to ask.

This movie is amazing, there are a lot of pop culture references, even I don't know all of them. I think you should def watch The Shining if you haven't seen it yet and ngl, i'm pretty new to the channel but the first time I saw you, I thought Anita was singer Elize Ryd from Amaranthe. I'm not sure what the status of it now is, but there's supposed to be a sequel coming out for this called Ready Player Two.
It wasn't Changes in Noland at the end. It was defeat. He knew once the Egg was found, the contest was over. He could have still shot the kid, but the contest wouldn't have reset. It would have all gone to the kid anyway, and since he would have been dead, with his mom, dad, and now Aunt also dead, the government would have likely seized all assets so they would have owned it all. While he goes to prison for murder with hundreds of eye witnesses. Unlike a remote detination of some bombs you can't proove the owners of.
I was wondering, you stated you guys are from Iran, are you currently in Iran? I have studied many languages and cultures and I am just curious. I intend to support your channel because I love seeing young people watch great movies.
Loved your reaction as always. You should check out society of the snow. It's a great movie and I would love to hear what you have to say about that one. If you do watch it I recommend the original language with subtitles, the acting was amazing
for series i can recommend quite a few. assuming you wish to stick to live action i recommend chuck, once upon a time, and galavant. though galavant you'll probably have trouble getting on galavant. it is a comedy musical fairy tale extravaganza. maybe checkout doctor who(2005) series or smallville. if you want slightly older maybe hercules the legendary journeys with kevin sorbo. if you want more sci-fi stargate sg-1 is great. i'll stop before comment gets too long
My guess by saying you love the car then you haven't seen Back to the future trilogy. Hope you both one day decide to react to it, It's a big part of American Pulp Culture.

Yup, and one reference from a movie from 1947, and some from Ultraman, a Japanese TV show from the 1970s.
The final battle with all the avatars from games, movies and anime is a nerdgasm 😁
It wasss incredible

The voice of Irok is the guy who plays the bartender in Deadpool
Yes, Artemis is Alicent from House of the Dragon
"how did they get the rights to all these characters?" Steven Spielberg himself called all of them and NO ONE want to tell him no
