I have met shane douglas at a number of conventions....he is one of the most down to earth and sincere people that I have met...he is no holds barred....and no reason to lie
And he just told it again recently. He's being straight, down to the details. The funny thing is he probably made more money off of his WCW contract than they made in the WWF since his WCW deal was something like a 3 year, 1.1 million dollar deal so he was making like $350,000 a year and it probably escalated at the end.
Never understood the idea that a liar can’t keep a story straight. As long as they don’t lie all the time and for no reason keeping something consistent in a lie wouldn’t be too hard. That don’t mean I think he’s lying though
To be fair the only ones wwe cared about were Chris Benoit and probably Eddie Guerrero. They didn’t care about Shane or probably even want him so can’t see a divide in conquer hurting them as long as Benoit and possibly Guerrero were there.
Damn, did not know it went down like that. I know I heard that Vince would've begrudgingly brought in Shane if he had too, but he didn't really want to. Makes sense why this all went down the way it did.
The difference between HHH and Shane Douglas was that Shane WAS the franchise of ECW. HHH was never the top draw in WWE or WCW, ever. He was the guy who worked with the top draw and eventually he won title belts routinely because WWE had buried pretty much all of their top talent and there was really nobody else on any level who could have carried it. John Cena would have been a midcarder during the Attitude Era.
I knew this story from a recent book but not from Shane's side...actually really upsetting...wondering if history will repeat itself with Omega, Cody, Bucks, Marty & Page...feel awful for Douglas was always a huge fan though he gets an ill rap...
yes and all 4 had already got their releases from wcw....except for shane....this was talked about in other pod casts...the reason the 4 never got a hold of shane and kept their distances is cause wwe could not negociate with shane cause he was under contrace....so shane basically didnt tell the other 4 he never got his release cause he did not want to leave wcw!
It's not that Shane didn't want to leave WCW. It's just he knew that WWF would never offer him a contract. He was trying to hedge his bets, but it was pretty clear that there was no spot for him in WWF. If he didn't want to leave WCW, why all the secrecy from Malenko, Benoit, Saturn, et al?

Cool 🤙.
shane told the same story in a 2003 rf video shoot. He is telling the truth.
Or he's such a good liar that he simply told the same lie a second time.

So true
@@anthonywilliams6002 With that amount of money at stake, that fantasy is out the window.
Thats around the time HHH was stealing Shanes gimmick too
@rudy2fat hope he gets sued
Which sucks Shane was great
Sam Steffen yeah right
When you think about it the wrestling business is one of the most unprofessional shady bullshit industry’s that exists.

Shane wrestled in bingo halls and WCW arenas that weren't even half full.🤭
if hhh didnt come to wwf i wonder if shane would of gotten his spot in the kliq? he was tight with shawn during his first run in wwf in 1990
Woah, woah woah woah woah, wasn't Terry Taylor working for WCW at the time? I'm pretty sure he had just left the WWF in late 1999.
Daniel Kane Taylor went back and forth so much in the 90s he couldnt even tell you
Anthony Williams True lol
He was. He mis-spoke. He says Terry at WCW sent them home a few minutes later.

He forgot to mention when he showed up at the wwf disguised and got kicked out of The arena by Vince's security
Disgusting Vince
That was Enzo Amore
He was wishy washy on making the jump. You couldn't be in that situation and I don't blame them for moving on quickly.

@rudy2fat why didn't he suggest shane douglas to wwe
@rudy2fat that is why wwe sucks
@rudy2fat Shane Douglas did had issues with the Clique most notably Shawn Michaels.
Shane Douglas wasn't good.No offense but he wasn't. That's why it went down the way it did.He would of hurt the group. They didn't want him.He sucked.
Shane was garbage,he already failed miserably in WWF. They didn't want him back.
He did well
I cant say Shane is complete garbage. He had some pretty good matches in WCW when he was a part of Revolution.
He was the most notorious and villainous heel in ECW too. He had great matches in ECW.
Vince didn't slice it down the middle. He just cut the nasty crust off. Lol
