This is heartbreaking. I grew up eating fishwheel salmon and it hurts to imagine a river without salmon. Salmon are like the lifeblood of the land. I am so sorry. I hope for they return. You are inspiring and I wish you and your community the best.

I remember when the Yukon was a healthy fishery. As a fisheries biologist, i can say with certainty all stocks will be over fished because we will always take more than the resource can handle. To find a sustainable number of fish to take is not unlike trying to solve a three body problem. I would like to see a total moratorium then as stocks improve, implement the old less intrusive and destructive harvesting methods. Native Americans should have special privileges for what they can take. No year in, year out commercial fishing. The health of the stock is the most important consideration.

Salmon are so important for these people, i hope for the best.
It's a lifeline for much of Alaska
Stop the trawlers!!!
Get those trawlers out of the oceans, McDonald's and every other corporation owes some serious reparations to the people.

Louder😮
I was there 50 years ago. Caught salmon with a net
@@guynouri Wow, crazy to think how much can change in 50 years. Thank you for sharing your experience
Look at snow crabs in 2024
The masses will realize what’s happening once they’re running out of food. Maybe they’ll care then.
We have moved on….evolved.
With billions of us, consuming our natural heritage. The way we are now.
We will end up as far less, than we ever were.
The Chinese are eating your fish.
