  • During World War II, Southington, Connecticut, was selected by the War Department to be featured in a defense booklet entitled “Southington, CT-Microcosm of America.” The town had a population of just under 10,000, with 1,591 residents serving in the war. Photographer Charles Fenno Jacobs captured the daily lives of Southington residents at work, at play, and in their homes and churches, providing a unique glimpse into life during the war.
