Jinnai and the Bugrom AMV

- Hubba Hubba Zoot Zoot, a song by Caramba, as sung by Jinnai from the El Hazard OAVs. I originally created this video years ago and recently decided to redo it since I couldn't find a high quality copy of the first one. Several people have the original posted on youtube already.
The first release of this video was devastating, the crowd were nearly out of their seats with laughter. So many people gasping for air amid the hard laughing, oh God it hurt so much but felt so good to laugh that hard.
This was also 20 years ago, lol.

@@KainYusanagi That's cool, I guess I was wondering somewhat how this song came to be used in this video. The guy singing who also composed the song as a joke in 1981 is Ted Gärdestad, who was a famous singer song-writer in Sweden.

The fact that this still exists makes me so happy. It has lived rent-free in my head for literally decades.

Anime Expo 2001, got a standing ovation.
A quick synopsis for lazy people who only want to know a little more:
The anime is called El Hazaard. It's about a group of highschool students and their teacher who are randomly teleported to an alternate universe. Every person in the group also gets some sort of superpower, although they're not all immediately obvious. The group was magically summoned to save a kingdom which is in all sorts of trouble. The male student who "sings" the main vocal in this AMV is the school president, who's a conniving, selfish, cowardly backstabber with delusions of grandeur in the normal world. When he discovers that his "superpower" is being able to speak to the Bugrom, which is the main antagonist group in the anime, he joins their side and becomes the supreme commander of their army. When he speaks to the Bugrom, he percieves it as standard Japanese, but from everyone else's point of view (except the Bugrom, presumably), he sounds... not unentirely like these lyrics.
I loved this AMV back in the day, and I'm so happy to find it posted here in good quality by the creator!
Thank you for the explanation! I saw this amv first at the age of 12 and had no idea what's happening but it was just so hilarious I returned to watch it over and over again. Now, knowing the story, it's possibly even more funny 😆

This is the first AMV I remember seeing. I first watched this at a convention back in... 2000? Maybe 2001? Probably at Otakon, but maybe Shoujocon or Nekocon. So long ago. I annoyed everyone for months with this video afterwards. Good memories!

It is _very_ strange to think how long ago I created this AMV. I can _still_ remember watching the contest where it premiered.
I saw this very video many years ago when it was new, and just because of that, I bought ALL the El-Hazard DVDs. Didn't have any idea what it was about or anything, haha. Eventually became obsessed enough to make the website El-Hazard Online, which had a decent amount of popularity for a few years. Still keep it online even though it's kind of dead now. But there's not going to many new El-Hazard fans this far out...

As somebody said in another comment thread, the pathetic and cowardly Jinnai inexplicably comes off here as some sort of demented motivational speaker. Fantastic.

What's great is that laugh at 1:32 sounds exactly like Jinnai's trademark laugh.
I finally saw El-Hazard recently, and I gotta say this is both fitting for these characters and hilarious.
I remember seeing this AGES ago, back at Otakon in 2005 - dang, that takes me back.
I've never seen this anime nor do I have any idea what this song is actually about. That said this video makes me happy every time I watch it.

I found out about El Hazard only a few years ago when writing a Psychology paper on laughter. While watching an evil laugh video, I immediately fell in love with what I thought was an evil businessman (in the end, it was an evil class president). THAT got me to watch El Hazard, but Hubba Hubba Zoot Zoot helped a bunch too.
Anyway, eventually I too became obsessed enough to-WAIT, WHAT!? YOU CREATED EL HAZARD ONLINE!? I LOVE YOU!

(Perhaps oddly, I remembered it now as I was reading about air disasters - misread Jinnah, as in the Pakistani airport, as Jinnai, at which point this came back to me...)

I was going through old hard drives, and found my collection of anime music videos, including this one. But the files were corrupted and only some would play and most stopped halfway!

You are amazing. Only finding the series a few years ago, I was VERY pleased to have a site still dedicated to it, inactive or not. It makes me wish I was around during it's peak, but oh well. Better late than never.
We can only hope (or perhaps wish) that someday, it will make a comeback with a new series. Here's hoping for the super slight chance of some 20th anniversary special!

My 2 friends and I went to watch Mushi-shi in a theatre at Anime Expo 2014. When we saw this we were confuse and so did the crowd. The moment the workers turned it off to show Mushi-ahi. The whole crowd was disappointed because they wanted to watch more of this AMV to point that one person said more of this. But at the end we watched Mushi-shi.
