Vikram Samvat 2072 special: A Dastangoi on King Vikramaditya

In this Vikram Samvat 2072 special episode, we meet Mahmood Farooqui who tells us Dastangoi on King Vikramaditya. According to Farooqui, King Vikramaditya is an ideal man and it is immaterial whether he is a mythical figure or really existed. Dastangoi is an ancient method of Urdu storytelling and Farooqui is among the writers who have played a significant role in reviving the art. (Audio in Hindi)

Bikram Sambat is still the official calender in Nepal and the day of my commenting here is Chaitra-2-2076 (which is the last month). "Bikram Aditya" is actually a title given to the King of Ujjain who ruled there few decades right before the birth of English Calendar (Jesus, I mean). Bikram Sambat is an astronomical calendar and it is based on the motion of Sun and Moon both.

Raja Bhoj and Vikramaditya both were legendary kings of Parmara Rajput dynasty. Both were idolized by future kings of india. And lots of tales were written about them. Bhoj himself was a good writer and poet, a great king. Betal pachisi and dwatrimshati were great books.
We indians should be proud of our heroes and they should be part of our movies as well. We should go beyond 19th century for making movies like hollywood does.
People are not idiots, we are bored with these gangster, love and kidnapping stories which are too similar except for the change in name of character. They don't inspire or teach anything to people.
