I wanna hear your honest opinions, what do you think about sober partying? Also welcome back Barnabas! I've missed you m8 and I really appreciate you making this video. 🥰
I still dance just as hard when sober but I can't lie, I truly love the vibes when drinking, high or on mdma, I don't see anything bad in using drugs occasionally so I do use them. Keeping moderation and safety in mind is key though. I only feel hungover/depression after drinking, on mdma it's almost like an afterglow for a few days.
i know the rise of hardcore and like xtc brings the music alive i dont take anything causse iam older now bud the dope is not the same like 30year ago eather ... and if there are movie's about hardcore its alway's whit dope think the young generation thinks it goes togeter too here belgium or holland everyone take sommething...
Couldn't agree more. Hardcore techno and uptempo are what made me realise I don't need drugs to feel like I'm on drugs. I stopped taking mdma when I first heard these genres and honestly I've never looked back and wanted to do it again. Stay clean. Stay hardcore. ❤
Yeah. I've been to many parties where I could not bear the music without being wastef, so after awhile being wasted was the norm. I missed so many good parties in retrospect because of being too drunk
I know how you feel. Last year I was at ground zero. At around 4 AM I was kinda falling asleep in de uptempo stage and every one cameby, "are you oke, are you going bad?". And the second I said, no just tired. People where so confused that I was there sober, like they never heard of it before. On that moment I really knew how big the problem is with drugs.
Wow that’s a classic interaction - people will see me a bit tired at the end of the night and think the same thing and I say bro I’ve been dancing for 12 hours straight 😅 you’d be tired too
I personally think that partying sober is very good, however drugs enhance the experience for me and that's why i take it personally. But he does have a point, everything comes at a cost and i think you must decide for yourself whether you're willing to pay that cost.
@@slendyshowyes. It's easier to let go of your anxiety and really become part of the music. Now, I'm talking about medium to low doses because I think it's stupid to take high doses
Same here. I can attend a hardcore/rawstyle festival with just a little bit of booze and I can have an absolute blast. I also got many people asking if "I got some extra for them" because they just assume I got drugs because I was dancing, it's wild.. However with drugs it's a different experience. I feel like I am more connected to the people around me and the music just sounds better.
For me, I only drink alcohol when I go out. I know my limits and I know when to stop drinking, the only reason why is because it's a huge confidence booster for me! Then again, I do it in moderation and I do know when to stop.
Some years ago there was a kinda big club near my area that hostet some awesome hardstyle and hardcore events. But they stopped with those events because they didnt make much money from them. The club was packed full, but you'd mostly see people drinking water (you know what that means for some part), they werent selling much alcohol. So for the future events it was mostly hip hop or something where more people get sloshed. I was one of those people who "ruined" those events by only drinking water (no drugs) and enjoying the music
I have a similar experience with a smaller venue as well. Of course covid had a massive impact on it eventually closing but most nights the venue entry fee was 5-20€ (depending on artists). Now imagine that maybe third of the people going there are on drugs and aren't paying for drinks, and water is free of course. Essentially the venue isn't making any profit from those people on drugs. But they still have to pay the ridiculously high rent on city-centre buildings. I always drink a few beers per night but when the going gets fast then I just have to chug water, I sweat like crazy on HC gigs. I've had a few nights when my friends told me to try MDMA and amphetamine. I guess it's normal for them. But my few experiences raving on drugs has never been as good as without drugs.
Respect this message so much bro. And even forget the addiction element for now but think of those who try it once and they lose their life . Dont do drugs 🙏🙏
Some people i know take drugs, and i tell them to stop. (They won't listen) They start acting weird. Hardcore music is the drug! Please don't take it❤ Take care of yourself!!!
Till this day, i still don't understand why people need to take drugs and partying sober has been positive experience (Thanks to Healthy Harold). My experience with people on drugs does affect me just as stated in the video that I end up worrying about the people and not enjoying the moment. I had a friend who recently OD and I did feel responsible for not being there to stop him and it bothers me sometimes. From that day on, I was really against drugs.
ever since i started doing VR dancing and dancing 3-5 times a week i stopped drinking completely. because the less money i spend on alcohol the more i can party and do my moves better
Can't agree with what you said about listening to the music on drugs. I mean for me the music gets SO dope, even the average one, all the details get so much Brighter, that I need no budge to dance like crazy. It makes you FEEL the music with your whole body. Ofc I can feel the music without drugs, but not always... Depends on how much I already listened to it, how tired I am, what's my mood etc And drugs just relax and put me in the zone, get me fired up I hope my comment won't be deleted, so it would be fair
Also we all need to realise that drugs have always been and will be there. So instead of just scaring people with it, and telling some horror tales, or about some idiots, who were irresponsibly taking it, we could minimise this irresponsibility and harm by giving the real knowledge about how they REALLY work, giving all cautions ofc. I mean like you don't get harmed much by it over a pretty long time if you take average doses, not too regularly, have brakes and generally careful about the whole thing. Only common recommendation about what to take I would give here is stick to the weed more then to synthetics, it's natural. Sativa would give you that clear more-head-high for party and -bullshit- dancing
More than 3 years into hardcore 2 years into hardcore parties I've never used any drugs and people don't understand it But I'm really wondering if you're hardcore if you can't rave without drugs. As said in the video, the music in itself ( again if you really like it) is enough and even is the purpose of the rave.
While I agree to basically everything you've said in the video I can't really agree with the part that taking extasy is making you feel depressed another day. While it can make you feel like you are on hangover, that's nothing like depression. Throughout many parties I asked many of my colleagues how they felt afterwards and nobody really felt depressed (myself included). I absolutely agree that if you can't find happiness without additional substances you shouldn't look for happiness while taking it. It's very dangerous world and for most people it's definitely something that they should avoid at all costs. I'd love to hear some of your opinions as well. Nevertheless great video! Wish you best of luck with everything
@@Th1200 It's hard to not agree with that, but it exactly shows that it's all about self control and the dosage. That's why I said that most people should never touch it, because they're not able to hold back from abusing the substance.
@@udihu That's right, when you're taking it in multiple occasions without any reasoanble break (like couple of months between) it's definitely going to affect your serotonine baseline
Nicely said, from my own experience i can say that this video can show younger people what could actually happen after taking mdma. I'm not saying it's totally bad to take some at a rave once in a while, but please take it in reasonable ammounts. 🙏
I think the most important part is to plan weeks before the party how much of what you want to take. This way you're pretty sure not to overdose and you won't share with any strangers.
I have a lot of respect for those who can party sober (no alcohol, uppers, weed etc). I can't myself and I hate that. Drugs are fun, but especially young people who start too early and OD regularly are Toast before they reach 30. It is all fun until you get older and the cracks start to show...
This is the biggest BS i ever heard, if only the poeple that not use came to the party, there would be no party🤦🏻. 90 procent uses these days, again biggest BS i ever heard,,!!!
You have a strong opinion and that’s very welcome here, but to say over 90% of attendees are users I think is way too high. I think it’s closer to 50-50 these days particularly with a more health conscious gen-Z coming into the scene
Ive only ever partied sober. Imo, feeling like you have to be on drugs to have a good time is a very bad mindset. If you have to be on drugs to enjoy an event, you should instead go to an event that you can also enjoy sober. the experience will be all the better.
I was at a lil texas show last year and i was dancing so hard people thought i was on e with how much i was sweating 😅. Like no bro ARE YOU HEARING THIS SHIT RIGHT NOW?!?!
Thank you Thank you Thank you, that FINALLY someone says it. Defqon saturday was a MESS last year. Every bigger festival feels like people think its a "safe space for dru6s" and then they push you around, make you lose your drink, act like they're the middle of the world and then just steal your experience for themselves. Pure egoism. Take your dru6s, but please, take care of other people. If you destroy other peoples party, then you should really stop...
that's funny because thats how i would describe drunk people. 😂Been goin to festivals since the early 2000's here in the Netherlands and never had a problem with people on drugs, ever.
@@slendyshow It's objectively worse for alcohol... Most drugs, save for pure uppers amphetamines and coke, will make people loose, but also more social, hence the hugging, the talking, feeling one etc. etc. A bunch of drunk guys have a totally different vibe to them than the same group on mdma, weed, acid or shrooms, and that vibe is different if they were strung tight on speed or coke.
I really have to give it to your editor, his understanding of the rave culture is truly a treat to have. The last video he done on different styles through rave history was stellar, this video is no exception ❤
Have you ever attended a techno festival? 99% of the people are on drugs but it the most chilled out place to be. Everyone is on the same level, everyone is connected, everyone enjoys talking to each other. It just seems to me like you've had bad experience with drugs because of other irresponsible people and you're blaming it on drugs.
I disagree that 99% of people are on something, I think it's closer to 50-50, maybe a little higher at techno events. Agree that it is a chilled out place and when done safely can be ok
Props for this video! I never took any drugs when going to an event. After 2 or 3 hours of hard dancing I was exhausted and several times fell asleep on the grandstand. But the next day I only had sore muscles and didn‘t have to deal with anything else…
It's time to dispel the notion that drugs are necessary for enjoyment honestly, however, many still seek that escape. Bombas delivers some hard truths in this video, the comedown can affect so much more. While some individuals can sour the atmosphere when under the influence, I believe there's merit in promoting safe drug practices and understanding their impact on things long-term. But hes right, music can make you feel so good... had some intense feelings from just listening to specific tracks.... Choose life :)
the thing about hardcore parties is that everyone just assumes ur on drugs and if ur having a really good time people just think yea hes probably taking drugs as well. its not a judgemental thing at all cuz those people are probably on drugs as well its literally an assumption
Did first 5 raves with moderation of stuff and had water by my side(i knew too little or too mutch can do damage),nothin crazy, now glass of beer per hour, water, mild dose of truffles at most, maybe few small joints, but who doesnt know their bounderies just dont start.Like u said hard dance music is drug on itself
I did a lot of research on all kinds of substances in my early twenties, and decided against trying any hard ones at all. This was also way before interacting with the harder styles scene, despite listening to the music since as long as I can think. Last year, Defqon '23 was my first harder styles event experience. And the overall substance use was crazy to observe. However, all people, who were on something seemed nicer and more friendly than usual drunk ppl, so from an outside perspective I like people doing that over excessive alcohol. In the end, I did Defqon '23 with just minor amounts of alcohol (like 5 beers or so over Th-Su), and Qlimax '23 I did completely sober. I don't feel like I missed out on anything, especially after seeing all those completely wasted ppl after 4 AM on the Gelredome balconies at Qlimax. Ultimately, I think a lot of harder styles events are attended by two types of people: Those who seek for an excuse to blow their lights out, who are gone after a few years, and those, who are in for the music. I count myself to be in the latter group.
Man, I really want to thank you I had some issues lately and thought about trying acid or ketamine but you made it clear for me so thank you for that 🙏🏻
I think it’s not true that “most people” go to get wasted, I think especially with hardstyle there is strong love for the music and people go for that primarily!
Sorry but you are CLEARLY not interested in changing your mind. You already say at the end of the video that nothing will change that. But I'm gonna play devils advocate here because others really need to hear from someone has taken these substacnes responsibly at many raves to date. Drugs really are necessary (or at lesst highly desirable) for many newcomers to truly break into the EDM/rave culture. ESPECIALLY for a genre as intense as hardstyle. There is absolutely no way you are getting a hardcore Swiftie liking hardstyle sober. In particular, entactogens like MDMA will make it infinitely easier for them to have a good time, dispel any myths they had about raving, and remember the experience as positive for future events. This is very unpopular to say publicly because being anti-drug like yourself is 'cool' and 'acceptable' from a media standpoint because it shows you can rave without drugs. If you can, cogratulations. Because, I agree, in an ideal world we would all experience raves sober first before we decide whether to kick it up a notch with a drug. In an even more ideal world, we would all have the same amount of fun at a party as each other without drugs or alcohol. Thats called fantasy land. The reality is, some people just need some drugs for them to appreciate the experience more. Have a few friends that went to their first rave on MDMA and were completely blown away by it and have been immersed ever since. Before that, you would've been hard pressed to even see them at a club. It's similar to clubbing. Most people I know did not go to their first clubbing experience sober, there were a few drinks involved at least. It helped them ease into the environment and make the whole experience a lot more fun. This colours their view for future events and increased the likelihood they'll attend again if their first exp was enjoyable. The stance you are taking is completely BLACK or WHITE. There arent just two choices, 1) abuse drugs or 2) never take drugs. There are so many reasonable options in between that you are overlooking entirely. I firmly believe in responsible drug use. Honestly, hardstyle and EDM in general would be NOTHING without the drugs, particularly ecstacy. At least give it a go before you denigrate like half the people that attend these events lol Now the above is not to glorify drug use at all. Eg agree with you that young people should not be taking them (imo anyone younger than 25 should stay away).
That’s fair enough! The opinion shared in this video is supposed to be a bit divisive and I agree with the majority of your points except the labelling of drug taking or trying as “necessary” - I still believe it is completely unnecessary if you like the music. The situations you described are getting people who don’t like the scene into the scene and that’s fair enough, but to say a hardcore gabber who has grown up with the sound needs drugs to have fun is wrong in my opinion
To the point of assumptions made about gabbers and ravers: Imo the average person is just much lower energy than the average Hardcore fan. They see someone punching the air and hakken their minds out and think "the only way someone could be going that crazy is if they're on something." Despite the only thing we're on being the rushing adrenaline from distorted 909 kicks. Sadly, our music is perceived as "too much" to the average person. So the idea that the music is able to energize us sounds crazy to others.
I respect partying sober, but without ecstasy hardcore music probably would have never existed, it is a huge part of the culture and probably will continue to be, its in the human nature to seek experiences beyond the sober state. I think the most important thing is to stay educated and if you need to do drugs try to stay with safer ones, for example 2cb is a great safer alternative to xtc, it does not drain the seratonin system and can even have therapeutic benefits in some contexts
I am often accused of being on drugs at hardcore or dubstep or metal shows. I listen to this shit when I go to the gym and when i get to feel that sound in my chest from club speakers, doesn't it just unlock something inside of you anyways?
I've always been sober at local (Finnish) hardstyle/hardcore events. Most usually they are not in my home town, so having the ability to drive to - and ESPECIALLY from the events is so awesome. When you're absolutely knackered from busting PHAT HAKKS for 8 hours, the comfort of driving to a friend's place to stay over taking night time public transport is a delight. I've only once taken E at Defqon. Apparently I have some deep-down slight agoraphobia or something, because I felt super anxious, until I went back to my tent and chilled with a couple of tent neighbours. Haven't attended a single rave under any influence since, and I'm perfectly happy about it!
Sober or not, after partying 8 hours the last thing I'd want is to drive...home nor anywhere else. Especially if the party starts as like 10 pm and lasts till 6 in the morning, you've essentially skipped a night's sleep...even sober that's not really fit to drive.
you can learn to love partying just as much without drugs as with them, just find the thing you really love wheter it be the music, the people, the fashion, dancing or whatever and embrace it with confidence
You arw just high on life, what only people know that really love and feels the music. Many people dosn't feel this and thinks... that can only drugs do .. no they dosn't do this only love 4 the music.
Harder Styles are the best drug! No Joke, I was freaking scared of the movie CARTOON ALL-STARS TO THE RESCUE as a kid, which probably made me stay away from drugs until today.
It’s honestly kinda sad and I’m glad someone as influential as the slendy channel is addressing this. Idk if it’s just me but has the Aussie crowd been a lot more dead since the influence of TikTok. You c a lot of freshies and alot of people who wouldn’t normally listen to hardstyle come to such events and make it there whole personality that they can do more caps then the rest. They also genuinely don’t like the music and at best can name rooler or sick mode. I feel like it’s a serious issue and how’s the rest of the internet encourage such reckless behaviour is honestly sickening. Look if u want to take go ahead but once’s again now the risk ur taking and don’t be a dunce aye?
4MMC really destroyed my perception of life and joy/sex/entertainment. Been off anything for around 4 years now - still can't experience no joy from life at all .
I get what you are talking about and I am really not proud I of my party years. Although substance and alcohol is so much connected with the party scene, it is actually tough to even talk about it, especially talking against it. knew a dude from Rakehell, he also partied sober. Now I'm 2 years sober really looking forward going my first rave without anything.
I think people have these prejudices of how people who take drugs "look like normaly". It's not the right to do so but its a fact, the same people have these prejdices when it comes to other things in life. Maybe your look also fits into these prejudices. I don't share those opinions because on raves literally everyone could be on drugs, its not about how people dress or look like, or where they are from.... I am also sober and have been for a long time now, I think like 5 years (no matter if its a rave or any other situation in life) so I have the same mentality like you, totally agree with you. Whats also crazy is that so many people are like "you can only listen to this music when on drugs" or some shit like that, when its literally the opposite. Thanks for the video! :)
The most I'll do is an energy drink and a drink or two at the start. I'm cheating a bit though: I have pretty strong chromesthesia, so I get LSD-like visuals naturally and drugs usually muddy them up.
@@slendyshow Almost always euphoric, luckily! Usually I get spirals and vortices in 2-4 colors, occasionally I'll see something completely new or unexpected for the genre and it throws me off. Some country music tends to be gross-looking though, I get nauseated hearing Nash trash
In the past, on party's/festivals, people thought I was high on drugs. I just had a few beers and I was genuinely happy to enjoy myself on this certain event. surely when they are playing my favorite kinda music x).
@@slendyshow I get it often when on a few drinks or even driving to events (on nothing), doesn't annoy me, just funny people think I'm super high but I just love being there and will remember it all too!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I know the feeling, and I can assure you that being sober is the best experience I had while going to raves. Everything that I tried when younger, comes with a massive disgusting experience - that hangover is something that I do not wish on anyone stay sober - stay rave!
Im 28, ive been a metalhead by whole life and 0 dr4gs, the year before pandemic i went to my first rave. a MoH in Spain! and from then i do a little mdma every time i go rave, which is around 5 times a year. I dont think that is "bad" as long you are healthy and have a matured/settled mind.
I usually just drink, and it never feels like it reduces my experience, and It's hard without alcohol at festivals for me because I sleep very little for various reasons (alcohol being one of them ironically lol) so drinking a couple of beers gets me relaxed and ready for the day. But I really can't get proper drunk on techno parties since i dance so much, that it feels like I sweat out all of it. I've just been on Tomorrowland, and was among the minority that didn't do drugs, and I swear, the 3 of us that didn't do drugs were up and dancing way longer and harder than the others who were on all kinds of stuff. I'm sure drugs can enhance the experience to some extent and even make you go longer in short term, but for a 3-4 day festival, people who are taking stuff are just completely burned out at the end, and their solution is just taking more, which just fucks you up even more. I'm not judgemental though, I understand taking substances can be more meaningful for other people, but I don't have a problem with that, I just hate when everyone around me is taking a bunch of different drugs, mixing it with alcohol and poppers and what not, and sometimes I get really worried that someone might OD or get dehydrated or whatever and that sucks. I totally understand people who take a normal amount once a year or so for a special moment or something though, I don't see that as harmful for most people.
I agree with you on a lot of points, even as someone who does hard drugs like... maybe every few months. I keep a little notebook where I write down when and what I take. And two of the most important parts of your video are: do not affect others due to your usage and of course that young people, especially teenagers should stay the hell away from hard drugs. The brain isn't even fully developed until the age of 25/26. Taking hard drugs when you're not even 20 is just asking for a terrible time a few years or even just months down the line. You are absolutely right. The drug is in the music and you trade a mutliplied level of happiness with the guaranteed chance of hangover when drinking alc or depression when taking ecstasy. At the Haunted Mansion Festival I literally didn't do any hard drugs and drank mostly water. Just some shots here and there to keep a light buzz. It was an amazing night and I have clear memories from what happened. Like I said tho. I do hard drugs. Very rarely but that is not the point. The point is, that I do not take too much, I do not do it regularly at all and i dont mix drugs. I do it outside of the view of others and only with friends. We take care not to annoy or affect other people we may meet in the crowd. The point is, that you can do drugs "responsibly". Well. As responsibly as you can do illicit substances. My message would be: Know what you are doing to your body, know how it can affect others and know the side effects that can occur. Always have a sober friend nearby. Stay safe, at best do not do any substances and if you must. Do. It. Safe. Absolutely amazing video and a great message.
I always party sober, but the quote about drugs taking happiness from the future was soo powerful! I searched for a week to find this video again and to hear that line again. Going to apply this to my other addictions now :))
Fell in love with rave music a couple of years ago despite having never once been to a rave. I am with you all the way. Get high on the sound, not drugs.
I feel you so 😁 I have everytime the feeling that me and my friends are the only sober people on the Harderstyles Festival we attend to. But we are there for the music ❤ we love harder styles and we enjoy it without anything
Thats really the concept of enjoying "party drug" alcool is the worst thing for me btw, the real problem is the unexpected effect of some things even ecstasy is dangerous for the cut, mdma in crystal the pure form, was used in psychological sessions , to help the patients speak sbout themselves
i think its not as black and white as you told it. Safer use and an approriate age are important when talking about this topic. If a person is old enough, keeps the dosage moderate and doesnt do it to often then I dont mind if people use it. But I guess its a thing we have to live with since I dont think the scene will chnage in this regards. Sometimes people have to learn the hard way
Taking mdma you end up in a chill out area talking rubbish with other people who are rolling Staying sober you can fully embrace the music and I much prefer this 🎉
I went to many raves sober and I felt on top of the world. Then on one I did something and well, I also felt on top of the world - but I spent the whole night talking to people instead of dancing. Felt so bad for wasting that amazing music...
@@slendyshow I'm a very talkative person even when sober, and it's not a weird effect of a euphoric drug cause MDMA was at first used for it's talkativeness in therapy - only later it spread to raves. And the new analogs are even more talkative (they were also used for therapy before becomig illegal!)
@@slendyshow im Dutch. and i love hard styles since a kid, i could get high from the sound a lone, still can. im actually a dj too, so trust me when i say i really love music. I have nothing against drugs because ive done it plenty of times. But im the same, xtc does not make me want to dance more, and i dont like doing it at big festivals, never did, it just makes me wanna chill, talk, lay down, and hug people or fuck girls lol. So i never taker it for the purpose of dancing, more to have just let go and have fun. I prefer to do it with good friends. It also helps you understand people and connect with people, altho at higher dosage it becomes deceiving because you then love everything and everyone. but for example with my ex there were many things we were able to talk out on ecstacy that we fought about for years sober, and we were able to listen to each other much better, was quite therapeutic.
I enjoyed partying on drugs too much, to a point where I needed to make a party every weekday with drugs because I thought being sober was boring in comparison to partying on drugs, however since I stopped doing drugs my highs I experience from natural body energy is way higher than when I was on drugs. This was because in my addiction I used every day and every day I was getting less high on drugs (also explained in the video, your body gets used to it) but I didn’t notice it because it was dropping slowly. I always say: “A drug is a pleasure substance to enjoy a night more, but if you try it a few times it becomes a survivings substance” (in Dutch I say it as: drugs zijn genotsmiddelen maar snel worden het levensmiddelen) When this time comes you struggle the rest of your life with an addiction and then my question comes: is that one night where you play Russian roulette to get addicted worth the 4 hours of getting high?
People must be aware of the consequences of abuse, such as the quantities, the frequency with which they use and know the composition of what they take. You can use drugs but with awareness and responsibility and this way it will not affect your life.
@@slendyshow Of course. It must be a duty for all of us. From the public, organizations, events, nightclubs, DJs... The more, the better. People gain more awareness. If they really enjoy electronic music, there is no need to harm their lives.
I think you are correct. But Drugs are also great in moderation. Once of age if you don’t affect anyone I think it’s ok. I only do it once every 4 hrs and only Monday-Sunday but only 365 a yr
i mostly go through parties while smoking weed and it enhances the music for me, it's a great experience for me personally and i allways keep to myself, not everyone reacts the same ofcourse
Yeah even alcohol does the same, fake happiness at the cost of real depression. Culturally accepted and legal, but terrible for your health and mind just like these other drugs.
Advice is good. No denial. Personally, I don't think one pill takes so much away from my future, when it really adds a layer of mutual euphoria with the others on it feeling the same and enjoying the music we love. Also, if you take it one day only, let's say on 2nd day of Defqon.1 there is no depression on the remaining 2 - because life is so awesome that weekend that it is hard to feel any depression at RED. Of course if you take shit all 4 days - ain't gonna work. Everything is a poison and everything is a medicine it is just the quantity that matters.
Doing drugs can help to ignore social/communication barriers. In free time i have problems to get along with strangers or to open myself to new people. Doing drugs makes it easier for me to find new friends on festivals. Maybe thats sad for somebody, but i see it as a chance 🤷♂️ but like all the others sad, pace yourself and know your limits
Almost four years sober. I had enough of everything back in the days. When i was 30 i cannot take drugs anymore i was exhausted. I even had to go to rehab.
Wise words bro. I remember trying to meet people at a festival after my mate bailed and EVERYONE i went up to was absolutely munted and made fun of me for only being drunk 😂. I think its alright to do every now and then but everytime is just ridiculous and almost seems like youre just looking for a reason to pop and not dance.
I wanna hear your honest opinions, what do you think about sober partying? Also welcome back Barnabas! I've missed you m8 and I really appreciate you making this video. 🥰
I do it from time to time. I have to admit though using stims while partying is alot more fun than being sober! Moderation is key if you ask me.
I am always designated driver so i dont drink or do drugs. Still love the parties!
I do it all the time, i guess i just have a passion for the music and too much energy

Absolute legend thanks for sharing ❤️
I started MDMA on my first Defqon 2022, and ever since than it has gotten worse 1:21 . I wish I stopped afterwards 🙂↔️🙂↕️
+1 full sober at Rebellion 2023 in Holland, Who would of thought, cuz definitely not me 2-3 years ago, NO WAY❤
Wow that’s a classic interaction - people will see me a bit tired at the end of the night and think the same thing and I say bro I’ve been dancing for 12 hours straight 😅 you’d be tired too
Better to be on top of everything than on everything

The most basic and best way to put it 💯
I personally think that partying sober is very good, however drugs enhance the experience for me and that's why i take it personally. But he does have a point, everything comes at a cost and i think you must decide for yourself whether you're willing to pay that cost.
How do they enhance the experience? Like with your senses or is it more the feeling of letting go/escapism?
@@slendyshowyes. It's easier to let go of your anxiety and really become part of the music. Now, I'm talking about medium to low doses because I think it's stupid to take high doses
Same here. I can attend a hardcore/rawstyle festival with just a little bit of booze and I can have an absolute blast. I also got many people asking if "I got some extra for them" because they just assume I got drugs because I was dancing, it's wild.. However with drugs it's a different experience. I feel like I am more connected to the people around me and the music just sounds better.
I think the biggest problem is that it‘s getting out of hand with the drugs and i say that even tho i myself often pop a pill or somethimg
For me, I only drink alcohol when I go out. I know my limits and I know when to stop drinking, the only reason why is because it's a huge confidence booster for me! Then again, I do it in moderation and I do know when to stop.
Nice one mate!
Officially quit all drugs last week with the absolute only single exception maybe being at knockout
Keep it up brah!
I personally have struggled a lot with drugs, 42 days since I've last taken them! Two months coming up and I cannot be happier
I just cant do hard drugs and rave. I feel like i need to be laying down while im on that stuff. Too crazy for me!!!
Fair enough!
Try to lower the doses as much as You need bro
Some years ago there was a kinda big club near my area that hostet some awesome hardstyle and hardcore events. But they stopped with those events because they didnt make much money from them. The club was packed full, but you'd mostly see people drinking water (you know what that means for some part), they werent selling much alcohol.
So for the future events it was mostly hip hop or something where more people get sloshed.
I was one of those people who "ruined" those events by only drinking water (no drugs) and enjoying the music
That's an odd take from that venue for sure
I've only had positive experiences with MDMA, so I don't know what to tell you. That said, I've only done it a handful of times... as an adult.
Thanks for sharing mate!
Respect this message so much bro. And even forget the addiction element for now but think of those who try it once and they lose their life . Dont do drugs 🙏🙏
Much love mate
@@slendyshow you have a new fan 👊🏻
Some people i know take drugs, and i tell them to stop. (They won't listen) They start acting weird. Hardcore music is the drug! Please don't take it❤ Take care of yourself!!!
❤️
Drugs are great but music does not need drugs! It’s a drug on itself 🧡🎵🎉
Man I’m so sorry to hear that. I’m glad you can live on for him in the best possible way ❤️ Also big ups to Healthy Harold - the real ones get it 💪
ever since i started doing VR dancing and dancing 3-5 times a week i stopped drinking completely. because the less money i spend on alcohol the more i can party and do my moves better
Good on you mate
Can't agree with what you said about listening to the music on drugs. I mean for me the music gets SO dope, even the average one, all the details get so much Brighter, that I need no budge to dance like crazy. It makes you FEEL the music with your whole body.
Ofc I can feel the music without drugs, but not always... Depends on how much I already listened to it, how tired I am, what's my mood etc And drugs just relax and put me in the zone, get me fired up
I hope my comment won't be deleted, so it would be fair
Fair enough and good points around education - we totally agree that this needs to be improved across the globe when it comes to substances
Thanks for sharing your thoughts mate 🙏
@@slendyshow Thank you for your understanding 🥰
More than 3 years into hardcore
2 years into hardcore parties
I've never used any drugs and people don't understand it
But I'm really wondering if you're hardcore if you can't rave without drugs.
As said in the video, the music in itself ( again if you really like it) is enough and even is the purpose of the rave.
Agreed that if you absolutely need to have drugs then you’re not there for the music
Talk to people who did the "raver weekend routine" for some months or even years. Those people are burned.
You can overload your receptors, raises your tolerance and later just normal dopamine/serotonine portions will notmale you as happy as you should be.
Interesting points mate - I wonder if there is a link over long term use to depression?

Thanks for watching mate!
Nicely said, from my own experience i can say that this video can show younger people what could actually happen after taking mdma. I'm not saying it's totally bad to take some at a rave once in a while, but please take it in reasonable ammounts. 🙏
Totally agree
I think the most important part is to plan weeks before the party how much of what you want to take. This way you're pretty sure not to overdose and you won't share with any strangers.
People definitely need to do it smart if they are going to do it
I have a lot of respect for those who can party sober (no alcohol, uppers, weed etc). I can't myself and I hate that.
Drugs are fun, but especially young people who start too early and OD regularly are Toast before they reach 30. It is all fun until you get older and the cracks start to show...
Definitely something you can’t do forever so you gotta be smart about it!
Tbh I dabble in the substance, but I am a hard believer of moderation, and testing
Testing is super important and needs to have more government support
I have nothing against drugs but i feel like it‘s getting out of hand tbh
Mega Video! So true about music being the drug.
Thanks so much!
You don't look like you're on drugs. I only party sober. When you have a clear mind you can tell if you are having a good time or not!
So true!
When I started partying sober I realized the only time I want drugs is when I'm having a bad time! Now if its the case, I just leave 😅
Interesting so the drugs are like a last resort to keep having fun? Haven’t heard of that before
I love peaking at a rave, sorry to upset all you little angels 😂
Doesn’t upset us! Merely sharing our opinions
I was at a lil texas show last year and i was dancing so hard people thought i was on e with how much i was sweating 😅. Like no bro ARE YOU HEARING THIS SHIT RIGHT NOW?!?!
Legit the only way to dance to Tex
Sober partying is awesome. A few drinks is the maximum ill have but now always. I want to dance all night and see as much as possible
Good stuff mate 😎
Thank you Thank you Thank you, that FINALLY someone says it. Defqon saturday was a MESS last year. Every bigger festival feels like people think its a "safe space for dru6s" and then they push you around, make you lose your drink, act like they're the middle of the world and then just steal your experience for themselves. Pure egoism. Take your dru6s, but please, take care of other people. If you destroy other peoples party, then you should really stop...
Yeah I really don’t like when people impact your weekend or event because they are too cooked to remember basic manners
that's funny because thats how i would describe drunk people. 😂Been goin to festivals since the early 2000's here in the Netherlands and never had a problem with people on drugs, ever.
It is the same for alcohol!
You forgot a big one: The black outs from alcohol. Imagine you pay X (large number) for a weekend and you don't even remember it :/
That's so true! What's the point if you don't remember anything?
I really have to give it to your editor, his understanding of the rave culture is truly a treat to have. The last video he done on different styles through rave history was stellar, this video is no exception ❤
Couldn't agree more - I wish he could make more for the channel, and with your support maybe he can ❤
Have you ever attended a techno festival?
The soreness the next day can be brutal though! Cheers for watching
Nicely said mate ❤️
the thing about hardcore parties is that everyone just assumes ur on drugs and if ur having a really good time people just think yea hes probably taking drugs as well. its not a judgemental thing at all cuz those people are probably on drugs as well its literally an assumption
Yeah exactly!
Yeah, this doesn't bother me, of course they would assume that - and all good! If I look like I'm having a great time, that's awesome
100%
Agreed
Thanks so much for sharing mate - awesome comment 🙏
Man, I really want to thank you I had some issues lately and thought about trying acid or ketamine but you made it clear for me so thank you for that 🙏🏻
Very welcome mate stay safe out there
Yes you look like you're on something. But be honest most ppl go there to get wasted do drugs and have fun
At least give it a go before you denigrate like half the people that attend these events lol
Now the above is not to glorify drug use at all.
To the point of assumptions made about gabbers and ravers:
Imo the average person is just much lower energy than the average Hardcore fan.
That’s a good point, the music we listen to makes us more energetic and people assume we are on something
Fair enough mate thanks for sharing!
I am often accused of being on drugs at hardcore or dubstep or metal shows. I listen to this shit when I go to the gym and when i get to feel that sound in my chest from club speakers, doesn't it just unlock something inside of you anyways?
Its all about getting fucked up but it gets boring.
Thanks for sharing your experience and good on you for staying sober at your local events
Paras fiilis kun reivi-illan jälkeen voi istahtaa auton rattiin ja hurauttaa suoraan kotiin :D
Sober or not, after partying 8 hours the last thing I'd want is to drive...home nor anywhere else.
Especially if the party starts as like 10 pm and lasts till 6 in the morning, you've essentially skipped a night's sleep...even sober that's not really fit to drive.
Buli mikor lesz, Barnabás?

Facts.. Facts.. and Facts.. 3 months sober.. and like he said.. any harder music.. the D**g is in the music. You dont need it.
100% agree mate
you can learn to love partying just as much without drugs as with them, just find the thing you really love wheter it be the music, the people, the fashion, dancing or whatever and embrace it with confidence
100% mate well said
You arw just high on life, what only people know that really love and feels the music. Many people dosn't feel this and thinks... that can only drugs do .. no they dosn't do this only love 4 the music.
facts!
Harder Styles are the best drug! No Joke, I was freaking scared of the movie CARTOON ALL-STARS TO THE RESCUE as a kid, which probably made me stay away from drugs until today.
Sounds spooky brah
Well said mate - if you're not in it for the love of the music would you please (insert lyric)
If you need drugs to enjoy the music, you need different music.

4MMC really destroyed my perception of life and joy/sex/entertainment. Been off anything for around 4 years now - still can't experience no joy from life at all .
Man I hope you’re doing alright 🙏
I'd blame the copious amounts, rather than the drug itself.
People take it anyway that's why only education, saver use and free drugtesting at festivals helps :)👍
100% agree there needs to be better education out there

That’s cool to hear man - appreciate you having a watch 🙏
I get what you are talking about and I am really not proud I of my party years. Although substance and alcohol is so much connected with the party scene, it is actually tough to even talk about it, especially talking against it.

Good on you for making the change

Thanks for watching and for the interesting points mate 🙏
The most I'll do is an energy drink and a drink or two at the start. I'm cheating a bit though: I have pretty strong chromesthesia, so I get LSD-like visuals naturally and drugs usually muddy them up.
Interesting - does your condition create a painful visual or is it always euphoric?
@@slendyshow Almost always euphoric, luckily! Usually I get spirals and vortices in 2-4 colors, occasionally I'll see something completely new or unexpected for the genre and it throws me off.
Some country music tends to be gross-looking though, I get nauseated hearing Nash trash
Yeah fair enough, country is kinda trash imo
In the past, on party's/festivals, people thought I was high on drugs. I just had a few beers and I was genuinely happy to enjoy myself on this certain event. surely when they are playing my favorite kinda music x).
Does the assumption you are on more get annoying?
@@slendyshow I get it often when on a few drinks or even driving to events (on nothing), doesn't annoy me, just funny people think I'm super high but I just love being there and will remember it all too!
drugs
Yep that’s what the vid is about…
@@slendyshowi agree with the message 🙌🙌
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I know the feeling, and I can assure you that being sober is the best experience I had while going to raves.
Everything that I tried when younger, comes with a massive disgusting experience - that hangover is something that I do not wish on anyone
stay sober - stay rave!
Thanks for watching mate!
Well said mate
Amazing comment mate thanks for all the advice! ❤️
I always party sober, but the quote about drugs taking happiness from the future was soo powerful! I searched for a week to find this video again and to hear that line again. Going to apply this to my other addictions now :))
Different times, 1998-2003 pillz etc were the norm back then
Fell in love with rave music a couple of years ago despite having never once been to a rave. I am with you all the way. Get high on the sound, not drugs.
💯💯
I feel you so 😁 I have everytime the feeling that me and my friends are the only sober people on the Harderstyles Festival we attend to. But we are there for the music ❤ we love harder styles and we enjoy it without anything
The music is the best drug of all
Thats really the concept of enjoying "party drug" alcool is the worst thing for me btw, the real problem is the unexpected effect of some things even ecstasy is dangerous for the cut, mdma in crystal the pure form, was used in psychological sessions , to help the patients speak sbout themselves
Yeah when stuff isn't pure it gets super dangerous
i think its not as black and white as you told it. Safer use and an approriate age are important when talking about this topic. If a person is old enough, keeps the dosage moderate and doesnt do it to often then I dont mind if people use it. But I guess its a thing we have to live with since I dont think the scene will chnage in this regards. Sometimes people have to learn the hard way
Fair enough mate thanks for sharing
Taking mdma you end up in a chill out area talking rubbish with other people who are rolling
Staying sober you can fully embrace the music and I much prefer this 🎉
💯💯
i do party sober, 'cause the music is my drug and other substances would blur the experiences and feelings for a great memory to hold on.
That’s the best!
I went to many raves sober and I felt on top of the world. Then on one I did something and well, I also felt on top of the world - but I spent the whole night talking to people instead of dancing. Felt so bad for wasting that amazing music...
Interesting that it made you talk rather than dance
@@slendyshow I'm a very talkative person even when sober, and it's not a weird effect of a euphoric drug cause MDMA was at first used for it's talkativeness in therapy - only later it spread to raves. And the new analogs are even more talkative (they were also used for therapy before becomig illegal!)
@@globalwojtek Super fascinating!
I always say: “A drug is a pleasure substance to enjoy a night more, but if you try it a few times it becomes a survivings substance” (in Dutch I say it as: drugs zijn genotsmiddelen maar snel worden het levensmiddelen)
When this time comes you struggle the rest of your life with an addiction and then my question comes: is that one night where you play Russian roulette to get addicted worth the 4 hours of getting high?
Oh and please stay safe, don’t do drugs
Thanks for sharing your story mate - appreciate you having a watch!
People must be aware of the consequences of abuse, such as the quantities, the frequency with which they use and know the composition of what they take. You can use drugs but with awareness and responsibility and this way it will not affect your life.
Do you think this sort of education should be more widespread?
@@slendyshow Of course. It must be a duty for all of us. From the public, organizations, events, nightclubs, DJs... The more, the better. People gain more awareness. If they really enjoy electronic music, there is no need to harm their lives.
I'm too old to pull all-nighters sober 😂
normally it's the other way around!
I think you are correct. But Drugs are also great in moderation. Once of age if you don’t affect anyone I think it’s ok. I only do it once every 4 hrs and only Monday-Sunday but only 365 a yr
I was with you until once every 4 hours 😂
i mostly go through parties while smoking weed and it enhances the music for me, it's a great experience for me personally and i allways keep to myself, not everyone reacts the same ofcourse
Respect for keeping to yourself and having a fun time- that’s the most important thing!
we need more education, more prevention, more sensibilisation, teens are taking molly every weekend...
Agree with more education!
Yes music itself is the drug!!! Don’t need the other stuff irregulating seratonin and dopamine levels
Totally agree!
Yeah even alcohol does the same, fake happiness at the cost of real depression. Culturally accepted and legal, but terrible for your health and mind just like these other drugs.
Genuinely alcohol is so accepted when other things are not but they are so similar
Good point mate and well explained
Doing drugs can help to ignore social/communication barriers. In free time i have problems to get along with strangers or to open myself to new people. Doing drugs makes it easier for me to find new friends on festivals. Maybe thats sad for somebody, but i see it as a chance 🤷♂️ but like all the others sad, pace yourself and know your limits
Fair enough as long as you’re safe man, but hopefully you won’t need those things to help you make new friends in the future
I hate everyone even with massive doses of ectasy.
Good good let the hate flow through you 😭
Almost four years sober. I had enough of everything back in the days. When i was 30 i cannot take drugs anymore i was exhausted. I even had to go to rehab.
Good onya mate keep it up!
Yeah 100% gotta be smart about it
....yer'trippin, Bro.!!
Got a counter argument? Happy to hear it 😊
