This is definitely one of, if not _the,_ best filler episodes in Ben 10, in my opinion. I had actually forgotten a lot of the Ben and Kevin stuff because I was so engrossed with the Gwen stuff, before watching this I only remembered the Wildmutt tease and that's it. This is definitely in the top 10 for me, probably number six if I had to place it now, not quite top 5, but close. I'm glad it got the full breakdown treatment, it deserves it.
Just want to note that the red shirt is also a long sleeve. Maybe the red shirt is a long sleeve form of their uniform. And it's not mandatory to wear both. (Also note that Gwen's friend wrapping it around her neck is long sleeve too)
This always been one of my fav episodes in the original series. Gwen is such a relatable character to me so seeing an episode where we see her in normal scenarios feel refreshing,
Oh yeah Gwen’s BFF remember her? She talked about her for like ever. And Ben definitely had a date with her prior. Even if the timeline may not line up if you think about it, having Spidermonkey and also not dating Julie. Edit: Don’t get me wrong, I wish we saw more of their friends. Just normal teenagers. Like does Ben have any friends except Gwen and Kevin at this point? And any that are just normal at that?
Also, for those wondering, the math problem doesn't seem to be solvable. At first glance, it seems to be one long part of an equation that needs to be simplified and then divided by the second part of the equation. Order of Operations could be used, but the problem with the first part of the equation cuts off with a multiplication symbol. At first, I though it was the variable, "x", but with the way Gwen writes out the rest of the equation, it looks to be a multiplication operation symbol.
This episode is one of the most memorable for me. I watched it when it first aired when I was a child. I think the piano music really stuck with me throughout my life. I only really remember the last bit of the episode. It’s Nice to feel that nostalgia

I like Gwen in UAF a lot, so I loved seeing an episode focused on her and her daily life. I don't know why but I get really excited about characters having certain abilities and being recognized or praised for them. I hate when they're forgotten and never shown again. I enjoy seeing Ben's photographic memory, fighting skills in human form, Kevin's technical knowledge, and Gwen's overachieving life. Gives more depth to them. I feel like Gwen is really underappreicated even by the writers a lot of times. I hate it when they just nerf her when she's actually pretty powerful and a skilled and smart fighter. She deserves more love. Also, I did enjoy her friendship with Emily. It was sweet.
A personal favorite of mine for Ultimate Alien. I do enjoy getting to see more of the heroes home life. I always wished we got to see more of Ben, Gwen and Kevin's parents. This may be my favorite Gwen centric episode on the basis it's the one that makes me appreciate Gwen the most. It was also nice to see Animo be treated as a respectable threat again.
After all the recent Gwen centric episodes being quick reviews, which honestly were few of my favourites like Time Heals, In Charm's Way I was worried this was gonna be a quick review as well. Thank God this wasn't. Gwen is my favourite character in the Ben 10 series, especially her UAF counterpart
Gwen was drawing attention from the frogs in that fight. Considering the difficulty Ben and Kevin had with them, Gwen just being an additional, untouchable target may have been the only reason they made it through
Seeing a normal life isn't something yoi usually expect from ben 10 most of the time, so this truly felt refreshing, as always I'm glad for more breakdowns on the channel Glad to see another video
I absolutely love your breakdowns of Ben 10. Even though I've been having a really rough year, the content you make inspires me to keep going. Thank you so much.
This episode alongside the one where Ben's grounded and Kevin has to fight the highbreed alone for a while always made me want an episode of just kev Even if it was just him hunting down parts for his car or tracking down old scores only to let it go or go even go an apologise to that guy he nearly paralyzed for 5 quid in ult keV ark
I would have loved to have an episode that is focused on a Tennyson Family Reunion of sorts, or even a big dinner night, just something that had many of them hanging around. Bring back returning characters like Camille, Joel, Aunt Vera and so on, delve into some of the family problems, like Verdona's history with her kids and their wives, Camille and Lucy struggling with adapting to earth cultures, Ken maybe being overshadowed by his little sister and cousin, Kevin and Julie brought along to be introduced, and maybe even bring in the Baby Chills as a surprise and to showcase how Ben stands out a lot due to all his alien connections. A story about family, that comes in many shapes and sizes, would have been fun to explore, and feel like a more grounded episode, even with the alien stuff. Cause I imagine many fans would be able to relate to at least one member in the family.
This might honestly be one of my favorite episodes. Gwen is my second favorite Ben 10 character after Kevin and this was so refreshing when it came out.
Since Animo was in the Null Void for a while, I assume he wants his mutants to be at least equal to one of those Null Guardians. Like, I would assume that he sees those things as one of the best things to strive for and whatnot and thus he made his frogs stronger. Plus, I like to assume those frogs have at least a little alien DNA from one of the aliens in the Null Void.
I think the school uniform is mandatory, but flexible. Like, the teachers understand that some students gets comfortable without the red top, and they simply let it be. Since stereotipically , in America, male students are the ones who mostly care about things like school rivalries, in the episode all the boys wear the complete uniform, while the girls only wear the shirt and the skirt (with of course the exception of Gwen being Gwen). I dunno, i just think it makes sense.
I loved this episode, it was pretty great to see Gwen's perspective and her school life. Also, rewatching this episode sparked a "resentment" toward Natalie.

Animo’s getting all his materials from his UA-cam Channel, where he uploads weekly progress updates on his new inventions and members-only streams of his schemes. “Welcome, everyone, to Kingdom Animolia, where today we’ll be taking my new batch of giant frogs for a walk!”
I love character centric episodes that really delve into their identity, I wish Ben 10 had more of this, it sure has the potential for it with how rich the cast is
Speaking of Ben getting a pass to leave school, I've always wondered something. I'm pretty sure this is the last time Ben going to school is ever brought up so I've always wondered if Ben wound up dropping out of school to be a hero/plumber full time once Gwen and Kevin left in OV. We never see him go back, it's never brought up again and OV has him officially being given a partner with Rook, so him dropping out makes sense in the context of the show since we know he didn't graduate early like Gwen or that wouldn't have been treated like a big deal.
On his wiki it says he’s still enrolled just doesn’t attend in person very often because of his work. I’d assume the school excuses his absences as long as his grades are up
@@tahala1185 not only that but I remember reading somewhere that he is actually a pretty decent student because of that, he's just not that advanced like Gwen.
I also wonder if the null void affected his ability to get a drivers license. With him being a criminal him using a forged license would make sense. I imagine he would get an offical license after this episode.
I am impressed by how the frog in this episode did not have red eyes. At this point in the franchise, unless you came from the Aunor system and you are a bad person, your eyes must be red, so it is a nice change.
I used to not like this episode due to it not having much hero time but I think this is one my favorite episodes because of that. I love seeing the heroes doing normal things and dealing with juggling hero time, me time and their other responsibilities. This episode is one of the best
Ben 10 isn’t really known for having characters that are disabled so to see that kind of representation is really nice, and I do have to give them props for not making it feel forced or being too in your face about it. Also I’m pretty sure the name of this episode is supposed to be in reference to the famous song by Kermit It’s Not Easy Being Green
Man. I’m just now realizing that if they wanted the ultimate alien part of “Ultimate Alien” to actually have an effect on the plots of episodes, an episode with Doctor Animo somehow gaining access to the evolutionary function of the watch would’ve made a kickass sequel to the fusion episode in the classic series. Animo, already wants to de-evolutionize the world, but imagine if he gave his own creations a boost. He can create giant mutant frogs, but what about giant mutant frogs with gatling guns or natural armor plating. It feels like a concept is right there and just like the actual going ultimate concept, they never did anything interesting with it
She took the school bus. Which honestly if I had Gwen's power set I would not be doing that I would totally teleport into the classroom a regular basis.
For the uniform, it seems like the students have a base white dress shirt that they wear a red sweater over. The girls seem to mostly either not wear the sweater or wrap it around their neck like Emily
I love this whole episode. And I know it's heretical to bring up a Ben moment in this Gwen episode, but I gotta say that ultimate canonbolt spin where he wrapped the frogs tongue around himself was super cool. One of the best canonbolt sequences I've seen
i would argue this episode is MORE important than one with a recurring villain or plot development BECAUSE it's just about gwen. at this point in the franchise, this show's story and progression has become character-driven; the ultimate kevin arc proved that. for better or for worse, a large part of ultimate alien is dedicated to the identity of these characters and how they navigate their lives in this universe. and as integral and vital gwen is to the show, i personally believe that makes this episode very important to the show's core values. also, yes im biased and think gwen is a 10/10 character. arguably the best episode of ultimate alien in my humble opinion
Not really considering her personal life isn't important to any major arcs of the franchise. Everything you need to know about Gwen can be found in plot centric episodes. Also it's hard to call this show character driven when their personalities will change depending on the plot of the episode, and supposedly important characters in the the main three's life have a tendency to completely disappear after their first appearance( Ken, Harvey, emily). At best this episode is important if you're a fan of Gwen and want to see more about her life.
I really like 9:15 Gwen’s relationship with her mother. Like, if Natalie was resentful of the Tennyson half this whole time it explains why Gwen’s interests are so different from Max and Ben’s, it even explains why she is such an overachiever because she wants to make her mom proud and see past her weirder relatives
Maybe that's the reason why she hated Ben when they were kids. Yeah ben could be bratty, but Gwen wasn't that innocent either. Maybe she kinda clashed heads with Ben because of her mother's influence on her to see Ben as less since he has normal development as a kid. It isn't until she's older and has more experience she can make her own decisions.
You know, for how Gwen was in the classic series it makes sense that she has a mother with that personality.
That makes so much sense oh my god.
Holy crap, that summer vacation solidified her as a Tennyson!

I kind of wish we saw an episode with each of the trio in their every day lives outside of heroing. It'd be pretty refreshing to see how they balance both. At least we get Gwen's perspective
Yeah, what exactly is Ben's school situation and what does Kevin do while the Tennyson's are at school?
@@parkercomley8126 i am pretty sure ben dropped high school (which makes his worries from the first episode ironic in hindsight).
kevin i think he works in a workshop
@@ianr.navahuber2195 Before he drops out. I think at this point he's still trying to go.
@@ianr.navahuber2195 isnt it stated on the wiki that bens school just give ben a pass so that he can save the world in ua and then in ov he wasn't at shool anymore.
Ehhhh, I have a feeling that would get too slice of life’ish.i could barely stand the episode in the og series when ben got back home to school.
I didn't even notice until just now that Gwen's brother is never seen or even mentioned in an episode centered around her life outside of heroing, the writers forgot about him that badly.
Well considering he came out of nowhere it only makes sense for the writers to completely forget about him
Wasn't he in college?
This is definitely one of, if not _the,_ best filler episodes in Ben 10, in my opinion. I had actually forgotten a lot of the Ben and Kevin stuff because I was so engrossed with the Gwen stuff, before watching this I only remembered the Wildmutt tease and that's it. This is definitely in the top 10 for me, probably number six if I had to place it now, not quite top 5, but close. I'm glad it got the full breakdown treatment, it deserves it.
I really liked Emily, she was pretty nice. And she reminds me of a character from Sonic X named Helen, who is born the same way Emily is.
10:38 Sunny call her "Gwendy" and Mike morningstar call her "lovely Gwen"
This episode is one of the most memorable for me. I watched it when it first aired when I was a child. I think the piano music really stuck with me throughout my life. I only really remember the last bit of the episode. It’s Nice to feel that nostalgia
Gonna be completely honest, UAF Gwen was my major childhood crush ❤️✨
I don't want to take away from any of your other content but God damn it Algebra 2 With Kuro might be one of the greatest things you've ever done
I'll take some more of that please!!
This is probably my favorite breakdown so far because of kuros actions and funny hair at the beginning and this is just a good episode
This is such a unique and fun episode. So happy you did a full breakdown on this one!
Considering the difficulty Ben and Kevin had with them, Gwen just being an additional, untouchable target may have been the only reason they made it through
21:56 bro that legit caught me off guard. Well done man.
Seeing a normal life isn't something yoi usually expect from ben 10 most of the time, so this truly felt refreshing, as always I'm glad for more breakdowns on the channel
Glad to see another video
This is ranked as one of my top Ben 10 episodes. It just cements Gwen as one of my favorite characters in the franchise.
I absolutely love your breakdowns of Ben 10. Even though I've been having a really rough year, the content you make inspires me to keep going. Thank you so much.
This episode alongside the one where Ben's grounded and Kevin has to fight the highbreed alone for a while always made me want an episode of just kev
Even if it was just him hunting down parts for his car or tracking down old scores only to let it go or go even go an apologise to that guy he nearly paralyzed for 5 quid in ult keV ark
You know the rules of the show hamartic, no serious reflection on the ultimate Kevin arc.
@TheGlassesPro completely forgot about that -- rook kev duo was one of my favourite parts about that show
@@fightingmedialounge519 ah my mistake, I forgot trying to make sense of any of Kevin's story was against the rules
@@hamarticdownfall9919 as long as you've learned from your mistake.
21:56 the "is that fucking CHROMASTONE!?" thumbnail never fails to make me laugh it's so good
7:46 Man He only needs to learn to speak italian and he has the power of the axis on his side.
So glad this got a full breakdown as it's one of my favorite episodes but I got real scared Kuro was gonna cut it short at the Algebra section lol
Thanks for the support Kuro. And I am happy to continue helping The Ink Tank out too!
What do you mean?
@@guillaumegrignard7437 I mean, not liking her character. I love Ben's parents and Gwen's dad. But Natalie kinda sucks. She's not awful or anything. It's just I would never want to be around her.
@@ItsKeysama I know what you mean
@@ItsKeysama i understand.
@@ItsKeysama Her performance isn’t really high energy. It’s more like a worn down person (I can hear Romana III in her voice though). The closest we get to her with a fleshed out personality with interests is the start of the episode where Animo sells mutant eggs.
I always get excited to see what Kuro's hair will look like in the breakdown, but this one was unexpected!
I never rewatched this episode but it was nice that it got a full recap. Always thought Ben could have helped Gwen with those invites though.
He could have, but...Well, this is Ben we're talking about.
He could've turned into xlr8 or fastrack. It wouldn't take a minute
@@N.I.A23 or echo echo it might have been a few minutes. I personally think if Gwen actually asked "hey do you think you could help me address afew of these real quick?" But since she didn't Ben figured she could handle it
I feel like Ken Tennyson could have been the new grampa max. He could have been a plumber in training who always seems to have just the right gadget for the scenario.
“Do you really Gotta be putting your dirty monkey feet all over everyone’s roofs” easily my new favourite Ink Tank quote.
This quote is Frieza approved.
@@smashmaster521 LOL
21:55 confirms Crazy Frog is an alien in 5YL, i knew it
And his name is bullfrag
The scene of Gwen holding up the shield against the mutant frogs while the classical music plays in the background gives me big Evangelion vibes.
Oh a full breakdown on a Gwen episode, been a lil minute lol. But yeah, i love more relative slice of life episodes in shows like these, ever since i was a kid. Kind of a new setting, new characters outside core cast and a new perspective on a character weve known for years but get to know even more
Enjoyed seeing the side of Gwen's everyday outside the norm, Kevin should've got one too, and if frogs were gonna eventually evolve into what animo's did, I think they'd be the new apex predator lol. Looking forward to the next episode of Algebra 2 with Kuro
Gwen is my favorite character so all the episodes that centered around her I love
Thank you for doing this video on my birthday, this episode always stuck out to me because gwen was my favorite character so seeing her daily life was eye opening.
Also love the new look
Happy Birthday! (Mines not until Wednesday lol)🎉🎉🎉
@@sanichuuu happy early birthday
Kuro really sits on a gta barber's chair everytime he makes a video. Love it.
Animo’s getting all his materials from his UA-cam Channel, where he uploads weekly progress updates on his new inventions and members-only streams of his schemes.
“Welcome, everyone, to Kingdom Animolia, where today we’ll be taking my new batch of giant frogs for a walk!”
I was hoping this episode would've gotten a full breakdown, so I'm glad it did
I love character centric episodes that really delve into their identity, I wish Ben 10 had more of this, it sure has the potential for it with how rich the cast is
I don't know his discord, but I definitely have all Danny Phantom and Ben 10 lore memories as much as autistically possible.
the discord is in the description.
Gwen’s life is just as hard as Kevin’s life. 😢😢😢
Meanwhile Ben saved the whole entire universe like 9 times😂
@@fresh10 Was Ben trapped in the Null Void for years and lost a father figure there?
@@TomCat0217 I mean....he "kinda" lost a fatherfigure....only for that Fatherfigure to turn up alive and well.
Which life, Kevin's past is pretty much multiple choice.
@@fightingmedialounge519 some times he remembers it in one way than a noter
Also when he said that it is possibly a new frog I was thinking that it could also be a different species of frog too.
how do you know so much about math, piano, analysis ect... bro knows everything
Man, this was the best episode of math with kuro yet!
Can't wait for the "Crazy Frog's Bikini Bottom" And Beyond episode
I used to not like this episode due to it not having much hero time but I think this is one my favorite episodes because of that. I love seeing the heroes doing normal things and dealing with juggling hero time, me time and their other responsibilities. This episode is one of the best
Ben 10 isn’t really known for having characters that are disabled so to see that kind of representation is really nice, and I do have to give them props for not making it feel forced or being too in your face about it. Also I’m pretty sure the name of this episode is supposed to be in reference to the famous song by Kermit It’s Not Easy Being Green
Yeah even as a kid I found that really cool
Wish we got more rep like that
Considering she was only her for one episode, I wouldn't imagine they push her disability that much.
i believe the term is "Slice of life" there is a whole genre of anime devoted to the concept
I always loved this episode. Gwen was my favourite character in the show so it was great to see the show from her perspective.
That middle joke with the algebra was amazing 😂😂
This was a sweet episode from all the action. A nice insight into a character's daily life
I know that not all episodes make the cut for a full breakdown but Im so glad "its not easy being gwen" made it its a such a good episode.
Kuro deciding to do that algebra equation is just, it’s beautiful
Edit: is that fucking CHROMASTONE??
I love this whole episode. And I know it's heretical to bring up a Ben moment in this Gwen episode, but I gotta say that ultimate canonbolt spin where he wrapped the frogs tongue around himself was super cool. One of the best canonbolt sequences I've seen
That fake outro got me way more than it should’ve
i would argue this episode is MORE important than one with a recurring villain or plot development BECAUSE it's just about gwen. at this point in the franchise, this show's story and progression has become character-driven; the ultimate kevin arc proved that. for better or for worse, a large part of ultimate alien is dedicated to the identity of these characters and how they navigate their lives in this universe. and as integral and vital gwen is to the show, i personally believe that makes this episode very important to the show's core values.
also, yes im biased and think gwen is a 10/10 character. arguably the best episode of ultimate alien in my humble opinion
I really hope "Catch a fallen star' gets a full breakdown
I like to headcannon that either Ben 10 insurance exists in this universe or Ben fixes them with upgrade afterward.
Well since Ben is technically a government agent, it’s likely the government covers the damages.
