If your in the UK shortening is Trex. Thank you so much for taking the time to make and share this video. Books are good to a certain degree but no way near as detailed as a video. Your kindness is much appreciated x Debs
LOVE your videos! You are a great teacher. Can't tell you how many times I've watched these each time I make a figure since I just started doing this. Each time, they get a little better. Thanks so much!!
love your tutorials - thanks again, i watched your covering of cakeboards and now proudly cover my cakeboards because of you, thank you, gonna make this now but an african native american..
Hi thank you for your tutorial hopefully I can make a person now how much tylos do I put? I don’t think I put enough in my fondant I’m a beginner and never know how much to put some tutorials put very little some put a lot so never sure. Thanks in advance
ive been struggling with the facial features of my figurines bt u make it look so easy, will defnitely be following your tutorial while making my next one, thanks for a great tutorial👍
Hello! I want to make a figure of a man throwing a disc... do i need to do anything special to make the arm stick out to the side? Also can I store it at room temp for about a month before using or will it get ruined?? Thanks!
Dear teacher I want to thank you for showing us this free tutorial and inspiring us to do it. With ur help n guide I made my first human topper yesterday also I had a question as you know we are in cold season now my fondant seem to break although I used shortening or if I put it on my cake it starts to crack not all, any help? Also can u show us how to make animals giraffe or lion Your student
I just watch your tutorial and it was great! I learned a lot of technique. My question is how come your fondant seems softer. I made marshmallow fondant using your recipe but mine looks firmer than yours. What will I do to correct it? Did I put too much icing sugar? Your fondant is shinier too! :)
Hi, I've referred to your videos many times and and have learned a lot, thanks! I have a question, I want to put a fondant figure on the top of a butter cream cake, the feet will come in direct contact with the butter cream, will the butter cream damage the fondant, soften it, make it look greasy? I'm planning to put the figure on the cake a few hours before it's served. Any advice would be very appreciated. Thanks.
Any tips on making a standing person with walking/running legs (1 forward/1 back) with bent knee? I used the sticks but they don't bend well and I messed up the legs trying.
Thank you so much! I may attempt this to make Star Trek figures for my brothers birthday cake next week. Hopefully I can make it turn out pleasing. Thank you for your tutorial! 😀
Liz if I wanted to add like a skirt on the top of the pants should I add it before I do the shirt part or after? I need to cover the holes on the pants. Love your tuts. Your amazing and I love all u do!!'😍
Hi Liz. I love these tutorials. Your fondant looks great to work with. I can't seem to open the link to see how to make it. I'd love to have a try at making my own. Can you advise? TIA
Thanks for sharing your talent with us. You're really great! I have actually made my first decent looking mermaid topper following one of your tutorials. I said decent looking because my first attempts on making my own toppers did not really look decent at all... Haha... I need more practice though since my finished product did not look as good as your mermaid topper but at least it looked fine not scary! LOL... Thanks once again! :D
I love your video's thank you for that. I have a question...I made a sitting figure and put her on some polystyrene and put a lollipop stick in the figure to secure it , but now I wonder...how do I get my figure from the polystyrene? I think I can't lift the figure because the lollipopstick sticks to the polystyrene. Help
+Carolina Rincon . . . I think you either warm it, heat it in a microwave or throw it away. My teacher said that one your melted chocolate went solid after leaving it too long in the microwave it cannot be revived ? But fondant is different. Just google it ?? XD
I love your tutorials and have made some of your characters but when they are drying out they all eventually fall over and the arms and legs break off. Is it because im not using tbe right mixture. I spent hours making a sitting girl for my daughters 17th birthday cake but the chacter cracked and broke wgen it dried out. Can somebody advise me please. I've used ready made rolled icing with gum traganth added and the second time i tried wilton gum paste mixture but both times characters broke. Help me please ):.
Meg Geoghegan you might not be adding enough tylose. Also let it sit for about an hour after you add it, wrapped, and then use it. Make sure you are using water to attach your limbs and such.
+Irene Macfarlane cake pop sticks. You could just look them up, or use a different material it doesn't really matter ; You could put wood in your cake if you want
How long can we keep the fondant characters we've made already. Say I want to make fondant character topper for Xmas and I want to make it way advance. Can we keep it in the fridge for like a month?
+Marlene Morris No, the sticks are needed for support. Like steel in concrete ; pillars in a building. Also they need to stick out the bottom so the figure doesn't fall over
What if I don't want them to be standing straight up? I want the knees slightly bent on some characters and almost like a plie on others. What do I do?
there's cold porcelain clay that you can use to make these since it is non-toxic...i've only heard about it just recently... www.pinterest.com/coldporcelain/cake-decorations-with-cold-porcelain/
+willowcreekclays Yes you could however they won't be edible & you don't want it mingling with your cake especially if it can be harmful when consumed.
Hi Liz.. thanks for yr tutorials.. so great.. it's possible to show me how to make standing topper with 1 leg up please? thanking you in advance. blessings, ELny
Dear Liz - how do I do a standing figure that is wearing a skirt? I want to make a cheerleader but I am afraid that her bare legs are not enough to support the rest of her, as the jeans work in your standing figures. Thanks!
+Rita Vascimini I would assume you make the legs the same ( except with flesh colour ) then wrap the skirt around the waist by thinning the fondant into a sheet. If you were to add kneesocks I could imagine it'd be a similar process
Not only have I subscribed to your channel, I have fallen head over heels for your craft! You have helped me achieve so many new levels in my internet based small business. I am in awe of the creations I have seen you make on television, is: the glow in the dark jelly fish cake, omg! It was breath taking! Your definitely my cake decorating Idol! I have my own page on Facebook, I would be honored to have you take a look at it. www.Facebook.com/Gingie cakes of Dallas You may private message me there or leave a comment on my page. Thank you for your inspiration, your awesome tutorials and your kindness to share so many secrets! (Like your mmf fondant recipe which I have used ever since!)
+Patricia Sweetland-Figueroa You would make the sofa, with like 3 sticks centering it, allow it to dry, then you could use wire instead of sticks, do the same method, placing her on the sofa every so often to see how she fits.
Love your work. You are a phenomenal sculpted and decorator! Love your tutorials!

Hey I'm studying to be a chef in patisserie and was wondering how u would go about doing a boxer where feet are apart and knees are slightly bent
My fondant has turned solid rock. Can I use and do u know how I can make it soft or do I have to throw it away?
