I don't know the connection between the channels, how does everything work? you just show the ready Ableton desktop, but what should be in it, who is involved, how what is connected and why and for what ??? I want to know how to connect Stepic Plugins even with one instrument directly. Well, it doesn't work for me. Thank you . Intel 13i9, 64 GB, memory 12 TB. Works like ice
... for beginners? Minute 6, and this ableton dummy has lots of questions, just two: does that work with Ableton Standard? Do I need Stepic for Live? Your setup assumes the beginner knows Ableton. BTW, in many of your vids the circular image top right often hides your cursor, so someone like me often gets lost trying to follow you.
Hi Chris, just wanted to give you a great big thanks for all you do and for the way you do it. And thanks in part to you, I am... today... starting to master my second album. The first wasn't really "ambient", this one is more so but still not quite where I want to be, but every day I get closer and much of that is down to paying close attention to you, Martin Sturtzer, and State Azure etc. Thanks again and Big Love to the L1fers...
Hi Chris, wanted to thank you for this! I've seen your name pop up a lot in the chat during Martin Stürtzer's UA-cam concerts. Bought Stepic a few months ago and I was astonished by how quickly I was able to get some massive, constantly evolving sequences out if it. With only the Arturia MicroFreak! The main issue I always have is how to bring things together and arrange everything, and this tutorial was an absolute eye-opener. Thank you for that! I think you have opened up a lot of possibilities for me with this video. Oh, and I love your energy! I salute you, sir!
Dude! Your passion is so inspiring. I love the ambient genre and recently bought a dreadbox typhon to add to my soundscapes. I was searching for more typhon tutorials and found your videos. Now I can't stop watching them! You've inspired me immensely. Great job!
Hello Chris, tell me, in addition to Anomaly 2 (I already bought it from you), did you make any other sounds for Vital in the last one? I mean I saw it once...but can't find it anymore. Your Anomaly 2 sounds for Vital are just awesome. 👌
@@s1gns0fl1fe oh...i kept checking Bandcamp. Then I'll probably have to look at Patreon 😊 You always have so many links under your videos that it can get dizzy. 😅
Don't have Stepic so I followed along once with Stochas and later with HY-SEQ32 free version. Used midiMonitor vst to export the midi pattern generated by Stochas. The tutorial is so well explained, managed to crank out some cool evolving tracks. Weekend seems sorted! haha Thanks Chris!
So ... are you saying "get stepic?" LOL! Great video as always, Chris. My time has been severely restricted for a while, and I chose this one to jump back in (I'll go back to catch what I missed), and as always, I get a great "bump" from your content. Thanks as always. Cheers!
Hey Chris @S1gns Of L1fe great tutorial which inspired me. What a coincidence, I had bought Stepic a few days ago. I have a question about the Hive preset Vespyr that you use right at the beginning, where do I get that? Greetings from Germany 😀😀😀
When I clicked the Stepic affiliate link I was bracing myself for a price impact. But no, this one is priced reasonably, screw it, might as well buy it, I'm lacking in sequencer variety anyways!
So now with the new update to Stepic we can drag and drop midi into a clip which is AMAZING. But for some reason my automation or any other changes I have made don’t seem to carry over with the drag and drop. I’m just clicking the little icon and dragging into a new clip. Also, is there a way to drag/drop all the saved sequences at once instead of one at a time?
This is so good it reminds me of when JMJ first started out, he was creating polyrythmic sequences back in the 70's which must have been rock hard especially with the Anologue gear back then, they were always going out of time It was hard to pull it back. So for those of us who cant afford the real anologue synths of that era then Stepic is the future of the past but more reliable. Great video.
Hey Chris, I know this is an older video, but do you have and videos showing how you'd go about making the drums? I'm thinking glitched/stuttering hi-hats or something.
You are Awsome! Subscribed! Two questions. How can Stepic play any sound in the start of your video when you have no midi track recorded with Hive? Second. How is Hive not showing up on the track title bar although you have it on device bar? My midi channel will change name to the plug-in I choose. All the best!
Hey thanks for the kind words. Stepic plays notes when the transport is playing - it always has. This video is a bit outdated but you can now literally drag notes from Stepic into your timeline. I recommend going to the Devicemeister channel and watching my Stepic Update videos. As to your second question - I'm not sure what you mean but I don't think it matters much. I name my tracks and go - the important thing is just to keep making music. Hope that helps! All the best to you too.
Can anyone help me out? I'm trying to get Stepic working with Cubase 11. How do I link Stepic with a synth? I can't hear any sound. I have tried following the instructions in the manual and I still can't hear anything. Do I open Stepic as an Instruments track? Or Midi? The synth on an Instrument track too? Which is the target? I assume the synth track. Please help. I"m really enjoying the tutorials, Thanks!!!
I managed to get it working. Instrument track -Stepic. Open midi track directly beneath that Instrument Track. On the midi track change All Midi Inputs to 01.StepicVST-MidiOutput. On the Input next slot below, change to the synth you are using. In my case it is 02. AbsynthStereo Midiinput. I don't know how I got it to work other than to Record Enable both tracks and record something. It worked. I've been following the tutorial and it is very helpful. Thanks!!!
hey question for you, do we need to by the Ableton for Max version of Stepic to use it with Ableton, or can we just buy the regular version. I couldn't find the answer on their site. Thank you

I try so hard. I must be really stupid. I have stepic setup and make 2 patterns. I record the first and then go to the second. It all looks fine in arrangement view but when I go to play it back they are both merged in playback. :(
It's okay! Keep trying. You're probably sending the MIDI to the same destination. Try making the second pattern on a separate instance of Stepic on another track and eliminate any possibility they might merge. Best of luck!
