@hamishmcculloch8735 no, it was not. I.O.N has existed since probably the late 90s or early 2000s. They had an album called "Broken", which was released in 2004, that's a whole year before Broly's Second Coming got released. Heck, even in the early 90s, Dave Moran (I.O.N's main guitar player) was making music as "Gravity Pool". Then when the latter disbanded, he went on to create I.O.N.

Way late, but these songs were specifically made for Broly: the Second Coming and not made available anywhere else. Funimation paid for these songs exclusivity...
👆 what he says. In fact, most of the songs in the DBZ movie are reworked versions of the songs from their first album "Broken", which was released in 2004 (a year before Broly's Second Coming's released in America). Then, if I'm not mistaken, they released a 5-track EP with some of those reworked songs (which included Why, Deeper, Ignored, Set Me Free and Unaccepted, of which only the first three made it into the movie). Then they went into a hiatus. During that period, Mike Groff and Dave Moran started making music under the name "Beyond God". They used to release demos in the (now defunct) website called "Acid Planet", having around 8 tracks released at the time (some of which made into I.O.N's second album). Dave Moran also reunited with Vincent Mullins and Evan Jones in 2007 to make music as Gravity Pool. Then, in 2008, I.O.N returned with their second album Humanity, which, again, features 3 of the songs from the Broly movie + 7 more (new) songs.
