Paradise Cove is where Jim Rockford had his trailer parked in the Rockford Files tv show from 1974 to about 1980. It's always fun when you do your Arnold impressions! Thank you German in Venice! Mike in Oregon
@@Zebra_3 Jim's Rockford's address: 29 Cove Road, Malibu CA. There was an exact reproduction of his trailer parked there for some years after the show ended but I think it's gone now.
Yea, Paradise Cove is where the Rockford Files was filmed at, 1974-1980. The Rockford Trailer was parked just across where the restaurant is. James Garner hung out and ate at that eating establishment a lot.
You're right. Someone from outside the area coming here has more of an appreciation and a different perspective than locals who take things for granted. I imagine that's the case everywhere. Thanks for a wonderful interesting slice of America that I hope to see one day.
I havent been to Malibu since the 1970's. There used to be some Surfer "beach bums" who lived there. It was really beautiful. I used to know a guy who owned a home right on the beach and the surf would come in and hit under his house at night and shake the house. My mind was always clear from the clean salt air. I really missed it when I left.
That's a stunning amount of film trivia. You must spend lots of time compiling all those photos and details. Enjoyable to watch the Big Kid GIV enjoying himself. ☺️👍 Thanks for bringing us along ‼️
@@jeeess9979 I don't see a problem, why didn't one of the homeless people on the beach start a youtube channel, I bet their channel would have surpassed his, I'll tell you why, because they are lazy and want something for nothing and put forth no thought or effort, used to getting everything free and now the country is crying for people who won't wipe their own ass off of public land, they trash it and pay zero taxes , I'm pissed about it, other people are storing their junk and they lay in a tent while the city pays people to move their junk or throw it away
Mike, you do everything with such love, and heart...I went to University in California and when I had to leave I cried. I still do, and your videos just mean so much. Thank you.
I used to be a FedEx driver there for many years... knew where all the musicians and actors lived. But this one was the coolest one I will never forget. I had a delivery ( a big amp box and an instrument ) they opened the gate walk to the garage they were nothing more, nothing less than Korn band seating there just hanging out. The boxes were for Jonathan they were great. Met kid rock , mel Gibson, Garnet and others.... good times :)
Beautiful as always & your Arnold impersonation is spot on! It's amazeing to see how many movies were shot on that beach! And music videos! Thank you for takeing us on your beautiful vacation! You mentioned how the flowers remind you of your mom! Flowers remind me of my Grandmother she loved flowers!
I missed you Mike.. I drove all the way to Venice to see you we'd & Thurs and you weren't there.. Maybe next time I have a picture in front of your store
I just love your positive perspective of everything. I admit, I watch your videos not only as a lover of CA (I also have brothers there), but also to put a smile on my face!
You always reinforce what I love about this place. We know you have fun with it, but most of us know that it is hard work. Thank you for doing what you do!
Yes vlogging is hard work and in Southern California you have the most beautiful places in America. I enjoy your Soundtrack too it's relaxing. Malibu is so lovely it reminds me of Santa Barbara's Beaches. Thank you GIV!
God bless you German in Venice you offer such a wonderful thing to the entire world and you do all this on your very own dime, as a long time viewer I appreciate what you do, you deserve a community educational award if there is such a thing, there should be. God bless you and your family and loved ones. Jason 🙏😇
I've been in Neptune's, Malibu is the best place I have ever visited and I'm from dublin ireland. I still think about it every day it's a beautiful place to go
I literally live 20 minutes away from Malibu and for my entire life of more than 50 years all I've ever done is drive through Malibu on the way to LAX Airport or other areas in the Los Angeles area. Trust me, you're not missing out on anything!
The water really isn't that great in Malibu anymore the last time I got in the water there I got out with an oil stain on my leg and it was really gross
Oh, this was fun -- and such a nice variation from the eyesores at Venice that you've covered thoroughly. Providing the 4" x 6" photos from the music videos and movies was a brilliant idea, "German in Venice." A real shame your hoped for view of the sea from the unique vantage point of Neptune's Net was blocked by the motor home -- that probably wasn't even there just five minutes before you arrived. "Wouldn't you know?! It happens to the best of us." Speaking of photos, during your well-done tour at Paradise Cove you were SO CLOSE to the photo plaque (near The Beach Boys one) honoring the classic private eye TV show, "The Rockford Files" (1974 - 80). Jim Rockford's (James Garner) trailer house / office and his iconic Pontiac Firebird were parked on the north end of the parking lot, within a few yards of the sand. Oh, did viewers get plenty of views of Malibu when watching "The Rockford Files"! (On German TV it's titled, "Detektiv Rockford -- Anruf genugt") David ("The Fugitive," 1963 - 67) Janssen's private eye series, "Harry O" (1974 - 76), filmed its exteriors there too, on the opposite side of the pier. Harry Orwell (Janssen) lived at the third house on the beach south of the pier. His modest 700 sq. foot beach pad, with his sail boat he was often fiddling with, 'The Answer,' plopped down on the sand in front, was razed long ago; the lot sold for a reported $44 million. Harry O's GORGEOUS 'friend-with-benefits' / stewardess neighbor, Sue (Farrah Fawcett, just a year before "Charlie's Angels"), lived next door; the middle house. Within the past year (2020 - 2021) a McMansion has been constructed in the place of Harry's home (ed. - how in the world did the California Coastal Commission grant a pass on its OVER-SIZED construction?! . . . . "Oh, Oh -- I know, I know, I know -- $$$$ perhaps?"). Finally, while the wonderful, pricey food at Paradise Cove has only been served at the various, covered, OUTDOOR seating areas during COVID-19 precautions by the friendly wait staff, I offer a feast-for-the-eyes diversion: walk to the restrooms INSIDE the restaurant; there, adorning the walls you'll see hundreds of framed, b&w photos showing historical aspects of the entire Malibu area -- including coverage of the many movies, TV shows and music videos filmed there. The displays are truly an embarrassment of riches; a historical time capsule. For instance, you'll notice the pier today is just 1/3 its original length -- ravaged by storms in previous decades. "Danke, 'German in Venice.'"
Wow so beautiful place in malibu california. Even very sunny day and beach. Very nice Photo match movies and location 👍. Mr german vencie, How about paul walker car crash in California location. And I am never seen before michael jackson and brothers cars in malibu los Angeles california. I love this video and enjoy 👍❤❤
Malibu such a beautiful spot... Malibu's Most Wanted is another great movie to match up next time... Love it when you go with the flow.. makes for great vids.
This is the attitude people who came to California in the 80s and 90s had. Great! You can tell he truly appreciates California. Wonderful content and person.
Hello German in Venice. Great video! Don't forget to shave! Us girls from OC are watching you! And, we are nice looking girls. We are not messing with you. I love the Arnold S. impersonation! It is soooo funny !!
I was trying to follow where you were on google maps. I was looking for Cher's house and saw she had a tennis court so I started looking for homes with tennis courts. There are so many homes with tennis courts in Malibu!
I love Malibu! I was rock scrambling with the Sierra Club, about 1979, and we were all on the way to get to our rocks and we passed through the beach in front of Shirley MacLaine’s house, and she was outside making an exercise video. And I love the little shops, and I also used to live in Santa Monica Canyon, and hike down to the Malibu beach with the families dog named Stephie and we would walk all around. She had been neglected by the family who kept her, and she would be so excited to go out on walks with me, and she would be waiting for me when I got back home. Thanks for sharing Malibu with us. After all the wild fires, I’m so glad to know it’s still there.
