i stepped away from engineering school for a minute but i finally came back to it and, i must admit, i missed watching your vids along with your enthusiasm!
Strength is more related to the material properties....a longer shaft though would be have more twist due to the same internal torque, assuming the material and cross section geometry are the same.
I wish you could provide a video on how to calculate the maximum torque of a solid square shaft, hollow round and square tubing (typical HSS sections, for example square tubing with interior and exterior radii. Include twist too!!!
Sweet video, one thing that's confused me for a while now is if you twist a rod (subject it to torsion) does that mean that force is created along through length of rod?!
I have a question, Can you come to a small island called Malta in Europe so you can teach Mechanics of Materials in the University of Malta, because ours stinks and because of her I am about to fail the exam tomorrow, you have given me some hope. xD
May I know why you multiplied tao by rho in the integral? You said Tao multiplied by area is a force which is what we're finding, T. So what's the reason for multiplying by rho?
Ugh...it was one of my older videos before I knew how to edit. I haven't taken it down since it seems to be helping more than hurting right now...definitely on my list to update.
Your excitement and love for the course makes me extremely happy. Thank you
8 years later your videos are still super helpful. Thank you! Awesome for fundamentals review before exams.
12 years!
I can seriously skip all the MOM lectures in my uni to just watch your video explanation. your vids have been a life saver man!
I'd be failing my second year without your videos! Thanks a lot dude!
this guy is actually a pretty awesome teacher.
i stepped away from engineering school for a minute but i finally came back to it and, i must admit, i missed watching your vids along with your enthusiasm!
penguim90 engineering missed you too! welcome back balla.
I have my midterm in 3 hrs, I was planning to roll the dice on this exam but thanks these videos are helping...
Did you pass?
Did you?!
im really curious did you pass?
I dont usually comment on youtube videos whatsoever but this is definitely worth the time. Thank you so much. this has been of so much help!!!!!!!!!!
When you mentioned your afternoon coffee, I paused the video to go make some.
Thanks for the great videos!
Hmmmm....delicious!
Dude your explanation is just awesome. Thanks so much for making these videos.
Your videos are the only thing getting me through studying for this final, thank you so much!
Thank you for all your classes and initiative!
Thank you for the kind words!
Here I'm from india.. Dude you teach very easily and without boredom ...just awesome.. 👍
I don't know why some ppl dislike your vid cause your lecture is good :)
Saifudin Sajadi balla's gonna ball, hater's gonna hate.
structurefree The more haters u have, the more successful u know u are ;)
Very well done. Thank you very much. Torsion has been made much clearer to me.
U explain very well. i like ur enthusiasm in the subject, helps me to stay focused.
love the intro, good vibes, we're on the same wavelength!
Thank you for existing!
Good stuff Dr. Lee!
Thank you from tunisia
Wow I completely understand about torsion. Thanks alot!!!!!!
It was very helpful just like your other videos. Thank you!
very explicit and good explanation.i like it.
Thanks!
Just to note C represents the maximum radius of the shaft. Great Vid
thanks for watching! I'm glad it's helpful and a little entertaining.
best vedio about torsion
great explanation,awesome videos.
thank you.the way you use different colors is very nice.haha
when i'm tired, I watch this one too.
best explanation ever
Thank you Sir!
GREAT VIDEO! HELP ME A LOT!! Thanks a lot !
i dont know why i m paying my uni .. after all, everything i hv learnt is from you . . lol
Really helpful video! Thanks man
Thanks for the Video. Does the length of a shaft affect it's strength if all else is equal?
Strength is more related to the material properties....a longer shaft though would be have more twist due to the same internal torque, assuming the material and cross section geometry are the same.
nice tutorial, thanks
Makes me excited... hahaha Watching this video again.
you're welcome. thanks for watching!
Thanks for this nice lecture.
I wish you could provide a video on how to calculate the maximum torque of a solid square shaft, hollow round and square tubing (typical HSS sections, for example square tubing with interior and exterior radii. Include twist too!!!
Very good video!
These videos are great! Hope you can do some on Vlasov torsion and warping!
I love your videos!
manged to avoid a literal mental breakdown cuz of ur vids, thanks a lot dude🤍🤍
I have an asian lecturer who i cant understand due to his poor english...you have saved my life,
Thank you very much . You are love.
+Bilal Sarwar 😂
YOU ARE THE BEST! THANK YOU!
Sweet video, one thing that's confused me for a while now is if you twist a rod (subject it to torsion) does that mean that force is created along through length of rod?!
Torque is like an axial load. It involves a twisting action, versus compression or tension throughout the rod.
@@structurefree so no tension is generated through the row length ways?
U just gained a subscriber
Thank you!
you're a life saver
Thanks for awsome videos,
+pharu thank you!
+pharu thank you!
very comprehensive video :D
Thank you!
Ha! I wish I could. I hope your exam went well.
solid gold.
The edge of the shaft, also called the tip... get it? XD
Good video btw!
thank u sir for this video i hope u put the formula of other kind of shaft like continuos and hollow and thikness shafts
thank u again
peace
thanks a lot! God bless you
zoom in on your monitor whatever, you got me cracking
😂
thanks for sharing!
Well that was a fun explanation 😂
Did u have any video for wraping of prismatic bar torstion theory of pls send link
The angle of twist decreases towards the fixed point...so that results in?? Please do reply
this is amazing
G is the shear modulus of elasticity.
I have a question, Can you come to a small island called Malta in Europe so you can teach Mechanics of Materials in the University of Malta, because ours stinks and because of her I am about to fail the exam tomorrow, you have given me some hope. xD
BEST! THANKS MATE!
love the greeting
May I know why you multiplied tao by rho in the integral? You said Tao multiplied by area is a force which is what we're finding, T. So what's the reason for multiplying by rho?
thanks a million buddy
sounds like jesse from breaking bad...
You are the man :)
very good video. thanks :-)
FAB thank you!
What metal has best torsion strenght
Sounds like a question for the internet....try googling highest shear strength.
structurefree
Thanks 4 yr response but it is not helpful 4 me
So if torque is greater than torque max, torsional buckling will occur?
+Aviator168 not necessarily.
Can you give an example of calculating the torsional buckling load?
Why length of an object goes shorter when extreme torque is applied
you save me ..thanks
thank's for lecture
1080p solid mechanic!
Its strength of materials 1 rigth or wrong
Awesome
Perfect
Flawless
I have been given a formula at phi = TL/JG... What is G?
You perfect man
thanks a lot !!
You're welcome!
damn this is lit
its a shame the audio is noticeably out of sync by the end.... (unless my internet is just messing up)
Ugh...it was one of my older videos before I knew how to edit. I haven't taken it down since it seems to be helping more than hurting right now...definitely on my list to update.
merci!
Awesome
Danke !)
You sound alot like Aziz Ansari. I'm waiting for you to say "no way!" or "OMG"! Lol
MY CONCEPTS CLERAED
Thanks
super
circular and square difference
i love you
i meant thanks a lot, i appreciate your work
im so lost..., i don't think we need to use similar triangle for torsion
Bam!
need more explanation

Good lecture :)
huehue brbrbrbr
Yo Nigga
this guys wayyy too excited LOLOL
wow
