No this won’t work on artificial material other than a vinyl Faux leather is more a fabric material underneath and the fabric tears Faux material don’t tend to indent like leather does
The heat gun is adjustable from 60-550°c the key to it is don't do this for longer than a few mins at a time and on vinyl sometimes just a few seconds is enough staying a good few inches away from the object

Beaglemaster3 yes but vinyl reacts much quicker so be very careful and don’t use as much heat
