How does it communicate with the car? Does it have sometype of bluetooth in it cuz there no wires or nothinf
the TPMS sensors in our FR-S have been nothing but problems. I'm so happy that my E90 doesn't have them lol. Maybe we just have defective sensors though :)
How does the system actually work, like how does the car read those sensors? Are they coded to specific models?
Nice thing about late model Toyotas is that you (usually) can see the individual pressure readings in the gauge cluster screen, so you know if one of your tires is funky, or one of the TPMS sensors is.
I’ll never get tired of learning about tpms sensors. 😉
Thank you! I could not figure out what that light was. I just need a new tire sensor, not a whole TPMS system. That's a relief!
If I have a tire with no tpms and I get a tire rotation service should that tire be displayed in the new tire position where it was placed?
Those metal valve stem on the sensors corrode like a mad man too.
You guys cleaned your shop? I love it! I also thought the camera work was very professional. The aesthetic quality of your videos is starting to match the fantastic information provided with each one! Great job!
Another part to maintain?
I managed perfectly fine for the first 25 years of my driving career without them. Another thing that wouldn't be needed if car owners just did basic maintenance.
I got got some m4 competition alloys with the sensors but my car ant picking them up is that because I need to get Pacific ones to the f30
What different makes of TPMS sensors are there
Hello Brian, how to test does my tpms is working, because after i code my car with bimmercode(i wanted to show temperature of tires) i think my tpms stopped working. I stopped dropping a little tire but did not report to my dash! Please help... p.s. my reset function is working!
I've taken my wheels off for brake jobs, patching blown tires, etc. and there's no connection between the tire/wheel and the rest of the car. Is it a wireless connection between the TPM sensor and the car's computer? Otherwise I don't see how the car's computer could get any data/signal from the tires themselves
Most genuine systems used a sensor with is a part of the ABS system and it calculates the difference of speed between a low pressure tire and the correct pressure and it calculates an algorithm. Aftermarket systems are wireless and measure the pressure at the valve stem.
@@stephenwatson2328 I hate it when people answer a question without answering the question. If you don't know, don't answer.
@@stephenwatson2328 That is wrong- My tyre was showing low pressure - 100kpa lower than others. I stopped at a gas station and filled up, the TPMS was going up too. without me driving
@@terryyouth then you don't have an algorithm based TPMS and you have regular sensors like in this video.
He explained indirect TPMS. Which doesn't rely on wireless sensors, instead using a rotations over distance equation to figure out the pressure (by tire diameter)
I've just had all my TPMS sensors replaced and now when I reset my tyre pressure on the idrive, it will only reach 49% and then fail. And help on this would greatly be appreciated. (2015 F33 435d xdrive)
Very cool rims. What is it?
i am curious. Can self balancing materials like beads or liquid okay to be used inside a car tire that has TPMS or is it not recommended?
Ahh, Brian! I thought this would go over the differences in BMW TPMS sensors, especially since they changed midway during F30 production!
Quality vid tho as usual!
Hey Brian, how did the pilot sport a/s 3+ work out? I noticed the car had pilot super sports on, did you change them out?
Is there a way to bypass the light on the dash in my f32? Some way to code it? I recently just put aftermarket wheels and tires on my car
So on my f30 it doesn’t pop up the tire is low it just has a triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle and says reset tpm and when I do it, it never goes away ? Should I just get them replaced? It’s a 2014
You can have the sensors scanned to see if you have a low or dead battery in one or more tires.
Question, I noticed you have M valves on the TPMS Valves, can I use any valve cap or they have to be TPMS ones ? Thanks
TPMS apparently do have a standard required. OEM set their own. There is no aural signal required just the dash icon. It’s easy to overlook since a majority of drivers do not pay attention to the dash from start to finish of a trip. One of my cars can display the PSI of each tire. A 2011 model has no such display. None has an aural signal. Next, replacement $$$. Each runs from $50 and up plus service fees. The stem must have a cap to prevent damage to the stem. Do not gloss over that. Keep the cap tight on the stem. 2011 vehicle just had all four replaced. $$$. Thanks
TPMS is most useless thing on the car. I have to add air every week. It does not help that the tire is so weak when it comes to Chuck Holes in the road. More stuff on the car that I do not want and sends the cost of the car up.
How doest it work???? This video all about what is it
The device has a pressure and temperature sensors and these information are transmitted via Bluetooth to a receiver inside the dashboard.
My Honda doesn't show a symbol. It literally says TPMS.
it is not a TPMS, it's an antena for the gouvernament to track you #bigbrother
Still, how does it work?
The device has a pressure and temperature sensors and these information are transmitted via Bluetooth to a receiver inside the dashboard.
Wish TPMS went backl to the old tires.
This seems so complicated.. Don't they do this when you buy a car? Or tires? Geezzz..
the more you know ...

I've had a car for 15 years that is constantly flashing a low pressure warning... only to check it out and see all pressures are within range. After one replacement failed I finally gave up on trusting the sensor light and went old school, making it a point to check the pressures myself at least once a week.
I'm tryna go in sport and turn traction control off and it won't let you if you check your tires manually trust me I've tried. -2015 bmw 335i
