This is a VERY cool new set of commands and workflow. The blocky house was an excellent intro, but you sold me on the sphere detailing! Kyle is rocking the demo yet again. 🤓👍
that's a huge job... since we do not use a parasolid kernal at the base of our fillet code, (or any of our code for that matter) it's not as easy as dragging a slider and having the numbers update. I'll have to defer this request to much bigger brains in our dev team-
me too, happy to see the foundation laid and it be part of rhino proper. Very excited about the potential development arc for these tools in the future!
Very nice. A "multiple face select" on the push pull command for faces that are not part of the same surface would be nice to cut down the need to select each face as you did in the sphere example. That being said Im already seeing the speed increase that will happen in much of my work. Thanks for sharing.
I'm not sure if I'm missing something obvious, but at 13:20, my PushPull command doesn't seem to give me the Select Region/Invert options. This means I can only PushPull a single quadrant at a time..
@@Rhinoceros3d Thanks for the response. My mistake: I was splitting the sphere instead of projecting the curves onto it. Now behaving the same as the video 👍
Yeah, Sketchup had the push/pull feature in 2006. For me the upgrade-price is still too much. Skip a generation, buy another seat. For solid modelling use proper CAD software with history and real time editing.
Hi Kyle, I wonder if there is a way to choose more than one region with shift o preselecting surfaces with the latest updates of Rhino. I know the invert way but it seems like a feature needed.
you can simply split and then extrude with the extrude dot on the gumball. Push Pull uses offset as it's base, so If you need extrusions, you'd need to use split face and extrude using gumball
@@Rhinoceros3d But if we are talking about spheres or other surfaces, how will gumball orient to ie. the Normal of the center of the selected surface? Will selecting the Object's Plane in Gumball options achieve that? Have never tried it with non planar surfaces.
@@constantinosschinas4503 the gumball will orient to the bounding box center of the object selected. can always relocate/ rotate gumball to your desired orientation.
@@Rhinoceros3d Yes i know, that is why i suggest to consider adding the option for extrude in push pull. And suggestion B, make gumball snap to surface, with Z pointing to the normal of the snapped point.
@@constantinosschinas4503 if gumball is oriented by object, it is indeed oriented by the (uvn) normal when the object is a surface. if you say, pull an isocurve and snap gumball to that as a mechanism for snapping to the surface, when you select the surface itself, it will be 100% be oriented to the normal.
Is it possible to invert cut direction in gumball? for instance if I have a extusion and another smaller curve far away from the extrusion, then grabing the gumball with cut handle, would be nice to have an option to cut outside of the curve and not just only inside of the extrusion. Or am I missing something? Thnak you.
@@Rhinoceros3d I would also suggest if I may, having the ability to cut only selected parts as right now it cuts multiple objects at once. Maybe the ability to select the objects you need cutting be cut and the rest left alone. My 2 cents :) Ability to invert direction of the cut (maybe with a modifier key to press or an option) Added option to cut only the selected parts. I think that will make the gumball the ultimate tool :) Thank you
Hello sir! I have a question on extracting a logo from a png file as an object. I have a logo with letters done in png. and have to use it (extrude it to make a text object, and attach on a ring to actually cast out). I tried to draw out, but since this is a brand logo, it really needs to be super accurate and I have no guarantee with myself to trace a perfect one. Is there any way to extract a png image? like a text object? I Googled it and found so many people also searched.. Thank you so much!
@@Rhinoceros3d This feature is extremely helpful for my workflow and is the difference between me having to edit models in mastercam vs Rhino a lot of the time. Is it something that will be implemented or brought back as an option at least?

@@Rhinoceros3d I Love Zbrush UI, I grew up with it and need no change to it. They give you enough customizations to modify it as you please. In fact I'd be quite annoied if they make a change, it's a second nature and that applies to Rhino as well.

Kyle, these are very very useful tools and workflow, I can see using these creeping into my workflow for sure 👍🏽
It’s certainly done that here in very short order. Detailing stuff is fun now instead of tedious and painful.
These look incredibly useful! Thank you!

Agreed, let’s get this tool bug free and speedy 1st and we can add features thru-out the v8 service release cycle.

Agreed- more features coming as this matures!
It would be nice if there was an option for those arrayed details to extrude and not offset. So you get straight extrusions from projected curves too.
