Nice song ! Almost three years ago,i see this cassette tapes at the recycle bins , and I pick up, and keep ! Now,i feel ,why not play a music ! Ah ha ! This hakka song are nice ! Sweet ! Love hakka culture! Hakka best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hakka people have always good idea's and very clear look on daily matters. like smoking is bad and work hard for success. uncle limyangyang please visit mental hospital. love hakka forever.
I'm Hakka, But a different sub-dialect - Ngi-wah (means " my words/language), there are so many different accent. For me, only about 25% of what he sings are what i use in my version of hakka. There's a wide bandwidth of accent (also known in hakka as: "lie - yeam") from soft spoken (like mine version) to Harsh (almost sounds like yelling). Cantonese is like the middle base of tone, where is mandarin is a bit harsh on the tongue. Being Hakka, makes you more special than "normal chinese people" because all my "cantonese speaking friends", can't understand me when i talk with my family. Sadly, its hard for me to find a fellow hakka that speaks the same version as me.... x_x
He adds in malay, english etc..this is how hakka is spoken outside china...ngi wah can mean..you tell, you advice etc Basically he s a humourous hakka singer. I like malaysian hakka songs..so full of jest,so full of life.
This singer's name is Chong Shao Lim,he is a Malaysia born Punti Fah nyin or local Chinese.Somebody else may sing and perform better than him,but he is the bold performer.
The reaction at 2:50 is not correct ... most smokers react arrogant, childish, selfish, agressive ... or NOT at all. When your social level is for below human standard ... you smoke in public!
Perhaps we can extend this: if there is some third party proof that someone is Hakka, then it is safe to call someone Hakka, for example, if both parents are Hakka, perhaps d offsprings r Hakka. One has to identify oneself as Hakka, b4 he is categorically a Hakka. If a son of Hakkka parents does not speak Hakka (for whatever reason) & speaks Cantonese & calls himself Cantonese, is he Cantonese after assimilation? If a Hakka man marries a non-Chinese, d offsprings Hakka?
In 2001, Wikipedia entry shows that Hakka speakers are 66 millions. But this year they had revised down to 34m. Cantonese Speakers were revised from 71m to 110m today. This shows Hakka r assimilating into Cantonese in HK, M'sia, Guangdong, overseas Chinatown. Hakka is declining in great numbers, probably only 19 m in another 15 years, wen the older Hakka is dying-off with their language.
Hakka wasnt a developed language when Cantonese became the main language in the Guangdong province. Today, it is often spoken with a mix of Hakka and Cantonese. Anyways, Hakka is a disappearing language with only about a million speakers worldwide. I hope this clears up the confusion about this video. :]
it's Malay Hakka, I believe. I'm assuming, too, because of the different translations of the "No Smoking" signs. it sounds a bit different from the Hakka I'm familiar with. But YAY HAKKA NGIN!!!!

You can identify yourself as Punti community and Ngai fah,Makai fah as your mother-tongue,in your daily ,mutual intoduction, conversation and in your mind.Aware, refuse and reject be a unknown origin guest,no room to get angry with anybody.live harmoniously..
hakkalow - I'd been to Taipei few times last year. The news in Hakka is just once per day. Majority of Taiwan free-to-air TV stations broadcast soap operas & sitcoms in Mandarin & Taiyu (50% each) BUT no Hakka. Only one Hakka TV that broadcast in Hakka & Mandarin BUT d program is shit till Nobody watch except those >50 years old Hakka granma & grandad in Miaoli vilage. If no funding from DPP's President Chen, sure close-down 4 years ago or change to Cantonese channel by now cos no advertisers
Marvellous, despite of reserving the Hakka dialect able to raise the awareness of public, with one stone he can kill two birds.Eventhough I am a Cantonese,I am still keen on learning Hakka dialect.
