Simba means lion Rafiki means friend Safari means journey/travel
The oldest kiswahili dialects with minimal arabic loan words are actually found in the Kenyan coast especially in Lamu. IMO this is the purest kiswahili. Kiunguja from Zanzibar has so many arabic loan words that it is not in competition when we talk about purity. That being said once you leave the Kenyan coast and go inland. Kiswahili then gets sick

Hello Mr Beat, like always, i loved your comparison video, and I am a big fan of your content overall, I watch you all the time. I just want to congratulate you as your channel is indeed growing exceptionally fast and say that you totally deserve it. I would like to leave a suggestion, though it probably is not the best option in terms of view potential, but it is Cyprus vs. Greece. Thanks a lot 🙏
@@iammrbeatNo, Greece goes with Macedonia, Cyprus goes with Malta. Unless you want to compare Northern Cyprus vs southern Cyprus, otherwise Cyprus isn't the parallel country to Greece. At the very most, it's Greece VS Turkey, two great empires long gone, but still at odds dueling it out to this day, dividing Cyprus in two.
@oslonorway547 I do believe that Cyprus is indeed the best match for Greece for such a video. They are the only 2 officially Greek speaking countries with predominantly Greek nationality and Greek Orthodox faith. Not to mention the shared history going back thousands of years. The two countries have almost identical cultures and share almost the same traditions and national holidays. There were even multiple attempts for reunification of Cyprus with Greece in the past.
@@Fluffychoupikkos Can't compare placed that are eerily similar to each other. This series chooses two places which have always been each other's competitor - whether openly or unacknowledged. Greece and Turkey have been at conflict for almost 1000 years now, and they continue to antagonize each other. If you wanted to go far back into history, it would be Greece VS Macedonia. But in modern day, it's Greece VS Turkey.
Wonderful video. Learning about other countries in a concise format is so much fun. I'd like to suggest Jamaica and Bahamas for the next compared video.

interesting observation about Kenyan swahili being blunt while Tanzanians are more polite. In fact, the line between a greeting and an insult is very thin in the kenyan coast area!
On the rates of living in both countries tanzania is lower... you can get food for less the a dollar also on the housing quite cheaper you can live in a house or rent a room in dar es salaam for atleast $15 a month minimum which has electricity and water or (salt water well)... you can drink local beer for as low as a dollar you can get an internet bundle of 1gb for less than a dollar per day or week depending on your income even the Kenyans agree with it when they come here they do say that living in tanzania is cheaper and we as tanzanians have peace
Kiswahili is not a hybrid/ creole language but a purely Bantu language. Although early scholarship insists on it being a hybrid language. Older Kiswahili dialects such as Kiamu spoken in Lamu or even Kimvita in Mombasa do not feature a lot of the Arabic loan words that are found in the standard Kiunguja dialect from Zanzibar which Europeans used as proof to classify Kiswahili as a form of creole.
Swahili was made when Arabians came to the coasts of the countries, that's why you see some Arabic words being similar or having literally the same meaning.
@T-lander Kiswahili was a language of coastal people even before the advent of Arabs. It became an important language of trade between the bantus and the foreign traders. It was due to trade and, to some extent, religion that brought inflows of foreign words into the language. Most of the foreign vocabularies were from the Middle East coincidentally.

Nairobi is the best and most developed city in Africa.
Both amazing countries I hope to visit someday. Thank you for sharing!
Cost of housing is much lower in Tanzania than in Kenya. It also that Tanzanians are more happier than Kenyan due to the cost of living which is lower in Tanzania than in Kenya
Was surprise he mentioned it otherway round and plus Tanzanians are owner of them houses and industry, which Kenya are it owning nothing from land to the houses and industry 75% foreigners. How can u compare that ?? Daah nimecheka saana Waache tutawanyima chakula 😅😅😅
@@kiddyadams are they serious about Kenyans not owning land and houses?!
@@kiddyadams Utanyima nani chakula? You are delusional if you think Kenya cannot live without Tanzania.Same way TZ relies on Kenya and its other neighbours to develop. You should know its a colaboration but empty debes make the most noise anyway, also mkitunyima chakula mje mchukue hawa machokoraa kutoka Tanzania ambao wanaomba pesa huku town while doing odd jobs

As a Kenyan currently living in US, this is a big win Mr.Beat. I also love your videos especially on Congress,Senate and Electroral College. They're educative and are in Kenya's high school civics curriculum
I’m Somali refugee born in Kenya I reside in the US, where do you live
Im American but I learned Swahili to help with refugees from Tanzania and the DRC. Pretty easy language if you want to learn one that isnt latin based. But it was cool to see a video comparing these 2 countries.
Theres also a joke that Swahili was born in Tanzania (Zanzibar is considered to have the purest Swahili) got sick in Kenya and died in Congo.
Simba means lion
Rafiki means friend
Safari means journey/travel
Easy language 😳.. clearly,u haven't done an exam..Nice to know u helping out with refugees❤
😂😂 English is way more easier.. Swahili broke me in primary and high school
Yes very easy and smooth language
Lol.
As a Kenyan myself. This is a great video with amazing analysis. 😊😊
Somalis love Kenya until Kenya support Ethiopia in occupying Somalis
2022 news report showed Kenya was aiming to annex parts of Somalia to main their peace 🤔 you cant annex chunks of independent nations that literally starts wars and destruction
😂Thank you Mr Beat, love from Kenya (funny thing is I live very close to the border of Kenya and Tanzania so I know what you're talking about 😂👏)
Great video! Consider doing Lesotho vs Eswatini or Zambia vs Zimbabwe or Angola vs Mozambique next. Africa needs more exposure
Thank you and I can dig those suggestions!
Came here to suggest Lesotho and Eswatini
Hello Mr Beat, like always, i loved your comparison video, and I am a big fan of your content overall, I watch you all the time. I just want to congratulate you as your channel is indeed growing exceptionally fast and say that you totally deserve it. I would like to leave a suggestion, though it probably is not the best option in terms of view potential, but it is Cyprus vs. Greece. Thanks a lot 🙏
Thank you so much for your support and encouragement. It means a lot. Oh and that suggestion is perfectly reasonable. 😁
@@iammrbeat You are welcome ❤️ 😍

Thank you Mr Beat. You have done a good homework getting to know the 2 countries. I thoroughly had fun hearing you mispronounce names and words , probably as you'd have hearing me mispronounce names and words in English.😀 Karibu Kenya.

Mississippi... And Nile.... No body really knows whis is longer... Depends on how you look at
This was really educational, fhank you.
interesting observation about Kenyan swahili being blunt while Tanzanians are more polite. In fact, the line between a greeting and an insult is very thin in the kenyan coast area!
"The abode of peace" is the literal translation of "Dar es Salam" in English from Arabic

thank you for this channel i cant stop watching now ! lets get him the million he deserves !
I mispelled mr beast and stumbled on this video
On the rates of living in both countries tanzania is lower... you can get food for less the a dollar also on the housing quite cheaper you can live in a house or rent a room in dar es salaam for atleast $15 a month minimum which has electricity and water or (salt water well)... you can drink local beer for as low as a dollar you can get an internet bundle of 1gb for less than a dollar per day or week depending on your income even the Kenyans agree with it when they come here they do say that living in tanzania is cheaper and we as tanzanians have peace
Mr Beat, I’d love a video on the African Great Lakes. I’ve never heard of them
Kiswahili is not a hybrid/ creole language but a purely Bantu language.
Kiswahili is not a hybrid language. It is a Bantu language with many borrowed words from the worlds most spoken languages.
Its pronounced lake tan-ga-nyee-ka. And zanzibar in tazania has separate legislature and regional executive.
How about a Key West and Barrow comparison?
I met you at my school today! Wasn't able to get a picture but I knew I recognized you.
Visited Tanzania in 2013. Liked it and will return. I am from Kenya. We Kenyans and Tanzanians may have a little beef with each other but we have more in common than we realize.
As a Tanzanian if we ask which kind of beef you can't even explain... I think is just jealous of us coz we have everything ur dreaming of.
@@jesuspower2390 don't make me 😂😂🤣 laugh!; This is what I call thoughtless knee-jack reaction.

Majirani you have those problem all the time wallah, we as Tanzanians 🇹🇿 we never taught or given any examples from our elders neither our school and history to identify our neighbours as a enemies or beefing or bullying or any form or negativity. We been told our neighbours is our family and we should love and respect them as we do to our own ethnic groups and religious groups here in Tanzania. So I Wao see why always Kenya u have this attitude of seeing as a rival or beefing with u or who greater than. Ask any Tanzanians will tell u we see u as Majirani and ndugu. Plus we never proud to speak English as we are a Swahili Nation but u forced as to responds to all bullying comments and remarks everywhere we go, ur creating a problem that Tanzanians never has we with you people. We boarders with 12 countries but they don’t do this kinder …. Like u jamani tunaanza kuwachoka and will be a real hate between us unsteady of brothers . Embrace peace not hate ndugu. See our differences as opportunities to our people and the homeland to be proud off and not who greater then who ? Remember this no Tanzanians no Kenya we are feeding u people, u have industry but all materials are coming from this side, ur Tourism sector’s sale more Tanzania 🇹🇿 parks and u get the economy grow . Please don’t push us to that lever tukaanza kuwa na chuki za kweli tutawafuraishaa waulizeni waganda

very interesting
0:05, I would like to correct this mistake, it was 'United Republic of Tanziania', not 'Republic of Tanzania', and 0:36, Lake Tanganyika is pronounced as Tounge-gun-nyee-ka.
Other than that, this video is good.
