Just proves that without CREW and TECHS the show DOES NOT GO ON! Cheers to the Riggers and Roadies , Techs and Local Stagehands...these folks ARE the reason gigs LOOK & SOUND so awesome!!
After being in the biz for over 35 years the kids in this video have it great to see what was my world. I really miss the long hours and I hope that they all can see and want to get into it if they want it.
I've been a Stagehand for about 30 years to see these students to see what it takes to be able to setup a show they will have a appreciation of what we do without the Roadies,Riggers, and Stagehands there would not no show
been in showbuisness since i was 18 and i would love to have a group come in and see it and ask questions. i love fostering the interest in this profession. so many moving parts and so many aspects that nobody ever sees
I’m a musician and played on the take-out of the cruise ship QUANTUM OF THE SEAS on RCCL. One of our venues cost 23 millions dollars alone to build-and had 5 of those robotic, moving video screens in it. They are very cool.
I was wondering why so many people had actual cameras. Then saw clip was 12 years old. Thanks for sharing, and shedding a light on the amazing and brutal and physical heroes of the rock world... Roadies! At this level, the crew doesn't party with the band, or hook up with groupies. Odds are when the band hits the stage... They are in bed. They gotta undo all this tonight, and set it up again tomorrow in a city about 3 hours away
My uncle worked as a roadie for the US and European legs of the Slippery tour. He jumped shipped and worked for Def Leppard on the Hysteria tour for the entire 16 months.. He was gone for about 4 years. We wasn't even home for Christmas. He didn't even own a house. Not a glamorous life at all.
I was chief sound engineer for 5 years for a local san diego entertainment company. I used to love stopping my interns half way into humping all the gear and setting up and working our asses off. I would then say: . LISTEN --- Do you feel it - ? They'd be like --- "WHAT - ?" DO YOU FEEL IT - ? Feel WHAT - ? THE GLITZ. AND GLAMOUR. THAT IS SHOW BIZ. . That's about when someone usually said SHUT UP. Then LAUGHTER ALL AROUND.. . AND THAT'S when they understood. . . == GOD I LOVE SHOW BIZ == .
Same story I heard from a platinum pro metal musician playing the big stages in several top bands, being away from home and family for long peroids is difficult, the 'rockstar' buzz wear off after years of touring... Guys right at the top can do it in comfort and a more relaxed schedule.
He may not be making money on album sales anymore, but he's still raking it in. According to Google, Jon Bon Jovi is worth 410 million dollars. By way of comparison, Tico Torres, he is Jons drummer and has been in his band since day 1 as far as I know, Google has him with a net worth of 20 million dollars. C'mon Jon, give Tico a raise!
I was expecting that the McGill group had a chance to meet the whole band.... why not. I guess we have to go at the Souls kitchen and hope Jon will be there. Great video, it was fun to see the stage setup before a show. And by the way, I was at the show in 2011. A JBJ fan forever.
What a great video . you really get a look at the work that happens BEFORE the concert. I think the guy @4:07 is the guy who gets bacon out of catering and shares it with the local crew
they must of forgot the RIOT just down the 401 hwy in Toronto circa 1981 when Alice Cooper cancelled at the last minute and thousands of those chairs went flying up onto the empty stage and else where.......
Also sometimes I share this, the Bible says that GOD loves us so much that he sent his son JESUS CHRIST to this earth and HE lived a perfect sinless life. And JESUS went to a cross and gave HIS life for us.And rose again in 3 days and who ever will receive JESUS AS THEIR SAVIOR AND ASK HIM TO COME INTO THEIR HEART AND FORGIVE THEIR SINS,HE WILL TAKE YOU TO HEAVEN
Kids learning the obvious lol...this is all stuff you should learn normally without paying for school. Marketing and promotion and all the networking is common sense...its sad people have to pay for schooling to learn this stuff.
A "B" band all the way. Stopping places that Knopfler will not and does not play. A way to differentiate between a talent and a non-talent, if you cannot discern otherwise.
Just proves that without CREW and TECHS the show DOES NOT GO ON! Cheers to the Riggers and Roadies , Techs and Local Stagehands...these folks ARE the reason gigs LOOK & SOUND so awesome!!
Without the crew nothing is possible
Exactly, few outside the business realize the hard work that goes on behind these tours. The road crew should be treated with total respect.
After being in the biz for over 35 years the kids in this video have it great to see what was my world. I really miss the long hours and I hope that they all can see and want to get into it if they want it.
I worked for Bon Jovi once in Stuttgart. We made the very very big open air production. I think 100.000 people. Was a great production.
Rene Uyumaz, What mixing board was that? Is it a Neve?
Given the state of the music industry today, this is a great step to get the youngsters 'feet wet' into one side of the biz. Good video, Great idea!

The guy wight he cowboy hat is awesome. Ive worked with him a few times and he is awesome
What is his name?
Barney the Dinosaur!!
That has to be the nicest sound mixer I’ve ever seen.
The lighting guy is wearing a TSO shirt! Awesome!
to be honest, if i could choose, meeting Bon Jovi or getting backstage views, i would everytime prefer the backstage

What the world needs now is more public relations personnel.

huh wow..I wanted to do stagehand work on the side, but given the state of affairs nowadays I don't know 😬🤷🏼♂️

I mean both are well off lol
Great video about workers in the back!!
Token black guy asks what you do: "We're the slaves". Fucking ouch.
Right? Of all the things he could have said.
Exactly. Ouch. Cringe.
wow im 59 and wish i had that opportunity

The Bon Jovi concert was the best
4:20 Look at the Scarfed Wonder..she's a primadonna in the making.
Rocking and providing jobs at the same time.
What a great video . you really get a look at the work that happens BEFORE the concert. I think the guy @4:07 is the guy who gets bacon out of catering and shares it with the local crew
La mejor banda del world....
That audience shot-its like a cougar petting zoo!
just what I was thinking, are we the only two men that like Jon?
I whold really love to do this for my career in my life
Still thinking that way now that we've seen what happens to the live music industry when the world shuts down for a year?
Hahaha!! At 2:04 you know he was thinking, why did I say that, as soon as it came out of his mouth. Haha!
I just caught that. That awkward moment when you wish you could take your foot out of your mouth!
Ol Megan at 2:51 looks like she could whoop some.. 😬
LMAO. Yeah I know but he didn't mean it to be offensive. Poor guy LMAO. We've all been there
You got a custom chair. Thats pretty damn cool
heck yeah
Makes me want to come out of retirement!!!
the girl at the 9:12 mark was doing her best lemmy improv with the high mic and where was bon jovi? i saw the crew but not him.
They were lucky !!! :)
im in love with the girl in the pokadots;)
lol
Right ON!
I do security at some shows and those stage hands work like dogs before during and especially after the show.
It’s not too bad, but the money can be good to great.
Was that a Midas analog console for the monitors?
definetly looked like it .
Yes it was
Der77 war es noch immer so weit entfernt
2:04 WTF???
Did not know Joaquin Phoenix worked for Bon Jovi!
2:45 Ahhh the HNIC!
they must of forgot the RIOT just down the 401 hwy in Toronto circa 1981 when Alice Cooper cancelled at the last minute and thousands of those chairs went flying up onto the empty stage and else where.......
Definitely what crew wants when they're on a tight time to get set up, a bunch of students asking questions.
Actually it would cool to have people take an interest in work that is not usually seen and appreciated
❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
This is interesting
Why is there so much stuff on there!???!!

The white guy told the black guy, we are the slaves. 🤦♂️

"we're the slaves," says white man to a black dude. Charming really (sarcasm emoji). Awkward laughter happens. Stay Classy.
Dennis 6666666667777
Sorry, but McGill students are both too smart and too stupid to survive in this business. This episode shows that painfully.
Kids learning the obvious lol...this is all stuff you should learn normally without paying for school. Marketing and promotion and all the networking is common sense...its sad people have to pay for schooling to learn this stuff.
Um, no. That’s like saying the electricians are just plugging things in.

I know right!?!

+Hilux344 what do you mean?
A "B" band that's still selling out concerts after thirty years..? Not too shabby.! I'm sure a lot of fans and bands would disagree with you
So, Mark Knopfler refuses to play Montreal? Where else does he refuse to play?
