    Thanks Carl! I just got one of these today for Christmas from my wife! I love old phones AND old radios, the best of both worlds. She bought it at Goodwill...

    Omg I have one for 30 years I always thought it was an old phone, it's been in my basement wall, wife want to throw it out, I said no😁, thank you for the video. Btw it works!!!!

    Nice video, Carl. The top holes with the brass screens are vents to allow the heat from the tubes to escape. These fittings were common on tube equipment, especially old "suitcase" styled record players. The long black cylinder is called a "filter capacitor" and it basically filters out AC hum. That radio is a nice piece of vintage tech. But here's a tip -- dust and wax it to preserve it because it is unique.

      Yes, but it is still unique because of the design. How many other radios were designed that way? It is unique, but not rare. These things also must have been enormously popular at the time for so many of them to still be around.

    I bought one about 3 years ago a guy was moving out of state I bought it for $5 great investment I too opened mine up just to see how it worked ( it's a guy thing ) and it does work this weekend went to a yard sale found actual telephones they want $150 a piece I'm going to buy one today for $100 I buy them just because and I don't resale.. I love old stuff like that

    I have one, and if you turn the dial all the way to the high end, it says, "police". I do like the wallpaper.
