I respect the animators so much for giving a lot of times to make these cartoons. I mean, you do realise they have to draw and make the characters move, right? I love Aniamation.
Animation is just wonderful to me!
Well if it wasn't for them animation would never existed or be as popular as it is now.
And yet after all these years the film industry still treats animation as something silly just for kids and not serious like live action films. Despite animation taking like 10x more work to do.
This seems like the biggest project you've done yet, and I can tell it will be amazing. Animation has always been so fascinating to me. The art of making pictures movie, and the work animators put into doing it is so under appreciated, and I'm excited to dive into it's roots and evolution.
I’ve definitely got my work cut out for me on this one, and I’ve got some exciting plans!! I hope you enjoy it 😊
Thanks again for the generosity! 🙏
Animation must be preserved at all cost!
Can't wait for the full series! You've done such a good job with this channel. Anyone can feel the passion and excitement in your work.
Thank you so much! 😊
I'm excited for the full series myself.
2 minutes well built and spent on watching this
Good job making this Dave, as usual!
Thank you! Hope you enjoy the series 😊
I can only imagine how massive this retrospective will be, and I'm sure it'll be a great one. Can't wait to see how you'll present this topic!
Thanks so much!! I’ll be presenting it in chronological order as best as possible! A lot of ground to cover, so it should keep me going for a couple of years! 😊
Sounds like this will be your most expansive and ambitious cartoon evolution you'll ever make. I wish you luck on this project.
Thanks so much 😊
I can’t wait to see the full thing. I wanna learn more history about animation because I’m a huge fan.
Great to hear! Hope you learn some things and, most importantly, have some fun along the way! 😁
Woah! This will definitely get me more interested in animation! I'm so excited about the Evolution Of Cartoons coming soon to your channel!
Thanks so much!! That’s always aim - I hope to keep you both entertained and educated!
I love animation and deserves a lot of respect!
wow this is your coolest video yet! I always love learning about the history of animation!! XD
Plenty of great stuff to learn and a lot of fun to be had!! Hope you enjoy the series 😊

Sincerely wishing you all the best with this ambitious project Dave! I've subscribed to your channel and look forward (with excitement) to your efforts - all the best from a fellow Aussie, regards, Terry.
Thanks so much, Terry! Greatly appreciated!
This will definitely be an interesting series!!
I'm excited for your synopsis of the evolution and history of animation across various media.
So many risks and experimentation have pushed animation to new levels of awe and wonder while the styles and tradions of old can still be explored to this day! I look forward to this new series as ALL YOUR EVOLUTIONS are wonderful, enjoyable and more importantly...Beautifully executed educational documentaries of historical execellence! In short...Amazing!❤ Thank you my brotha from down undah'!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate all the kind words - and the continued support! It means a lot! I really hope you enjoy the new series 😁
I'm so excited for this!!!
Yay!! I hope you enjoy!! 😁

Oooh i can’t wait for this, this is why I LOVE movies and animation and not even just that but how they’re are done like behind the scenes wether it’s live action or animation, i just find it very fascinating.
Me too!! I hope you enjoy the series! ☺️
@@DaveLeeDownUnder yeah, I am sure I will LOVE the series too. ☺️
This is gonna be HYPE MAN, can't wait for the premiere
YESS!! Hope you enjoy!!
Wow, so excited for these new videos
I’m so looking forward to this! We’re gonna go from the earliest forms of animation right up to the shows, webtoons and animated blockbusters of today!

YES!!
Wow! That's a huge project to work on! I wish you good luck!
Thanks so much! I hope you enjoy!
Ok, let me tell... this sounds like your BIGGEST project since the beggining of your channel Dave, and I am very proud of you... I remember writing comments since the first cartoon evolution video (and some of them were not exactly polite) but now you are achieving something BIG. From your fan from Brazil😊😊
Thank you so much 😁
I do appreciate all of your ongoing support, any kind of comment is always welcome if constructive 🤣🤣
Looking forward to this big undertaking and hope you enjoy it!!
@@DaveLeeDownUnder And I WILL enjoy a lot. I hope the best for you.
I can't wait to see the Evolution of Cartoons Mr. Dave
Wow Amazing
This is probably your biggest project yet but good luck David and I'm looking forward to seeing it
Thank you for making this evolution of in History of cartoon ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
I hope you enjoy it!!! 😊😊😊
Awesome
I love ur Evolution videos the most!
Keep up the good work!
I love SpongeBob, Looney Tunes, Mickey Mouse, Woody Woodpecker & some more cartoons I love!
Thanks heaps!
I'd say this is going to be great, but I have come to expect nothing less than that from this channel.
Thanks so much - I appreciate that 😊
Thank you, Dave
Thank you! 😊
Animation is still, to this day, very underappreciated. Not everyone has to love it, but there's something for everyone in animation.
I’ve been wishful thinking for something like this for 2 years now. I cannot wait to see what is in store.
I hope it’s worth the wait!! 🙏
This... THIS is gonna be your magnum opus.
And this is the type of video I crave for.
Thank you!! Very excited to dive into this one, and hope you enjoy it!! 😁
If I wasn't already a subscriber, I'd have become one after watching that.
🙏
Cool
I'm a huge fan of your cartoon evolutions of Disney, Hanna Barbera, Marvel and DC. Can you do Banana Splits next.
Thank you 😊. Sorry, I currently have no plans to cover the Banana Splits on Cartoon Evolution.
I can't wait for this series. I feel that if it wasn't for animation we would not have motion pictures at all and yet they are put on the wayside.
I really like animation/cartoons
It will be awesome to discover animation culture from ancient times to modern (as well as around the world), Dave. You’ll be especially interested to discover for yourself (classic and modern animation in Russia (Soviet and modern),
Very excited to learn and explore a whole bunch of stuff myself along the way!!
Particularly excited to discover some Russian animation.
Well, we should’ve seen this coming 🎉
😄 it’s about time, right?!
I hope you can mention the indie animated cartoons as well like Eddsworld, BFDI and The Amazing Digital Circus.
I did a presentation regarding the history of animation for my college not long ago, and I'd say it went pretty well.
Great to hear!
Favorite the cartoon 😊
The modern era of animation is that 2d animation became popular on tv and cinema but computer-generated animation also became popular.
I can’t wait for this series. We’re gonna see classic characters like Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, Donald Duck, Daffy Duck, Felix the Cat, Popeye, Fred Flintstone, Scooby-Doo, Pinocchio, Buzz Lightyear, Snoopy, Genie, SpongeBob, Yakko Warner, Dexter, Cartman, Bender, Beavis & Butt-Head, Homer Simpson, Jimmy Neutron, Optimus Prime, Pinkie Pie, Luz Noceda, Aang, Mordecai & Rigby, Bill Cipher, Rick & Morty, Bojack Horseman, Stewie Griffin, Tommy Pickles, Bubbles, Top Cat, Yogi Bear and many many more!
We need a way for Hollywood to watch these kind of videos so that they truly understand that animation is in fact worth investing in and remind them why it's good to give new, original concepts a chance and not focusing mostly on reboots.
Its been around for 100+ Years
Animation is a media type of moving
Premiering Friday, June 14th on Disney+:
• "The Whoopee Party" (1932)
• "Music Land" (1935)
• "Officer Duck" (1939)
• "The Nifty Nineties" (1941)
• "Pluto and the Armadillo" (1943)
• "How to Be a Detective" (1952)
• "The Litterbug" (1961, final Golden Age Donald Duck cartoon)
What does this have to do with the video?
@@evy9439 I'm gonna ask Bob Iger when I get to Burbank.
Who else prefer Animation than live Action?
I do
By any chance when is the Lisa Voice or the first episode of evolution of cartoons coming out
Lisa Voice Evolution this Wednesday, first episode of Evolution of Cartoons this coming weekend!
Oh boy, that section covering Anime is gonna be a tricky one if its going to try and condense it down into one video. Either trying to focus on just broad strokes of Japan's contributions. Or be a feature length documentary like you're QuintonReviews lol
I plan for this to be a chronological history split into a bunch of 10-minute parts. Anime will likely get a spotlight across a number of installments.
@@DaveLeeDownUnder Ahh, I see. That's a sensible way to approach this project. Good luck!
I recommend Accented Cinema's video essay on Chinese animation
Do A Part 2
What do you mean “do a part 2”? This is very obviously a short preview of an entire series I’ll be doing… the video ends with me explaining what the first episode will be about
So You Will Be Making A Whole Series About The Evolution Of Animation/Cartoons That's An Amazing Idea
Yes, that is correct.
I wonder if animated web series like Happy Tree Friends, Eddsworld, Bravest Warriors and Hazbin Hotel will be covered in this series.
When will start this series?
Very early next month.
Ive recently watched DVDs of animation from 1903 on up and its been fascinating. Seeing what effects they discovered and how soon. Knowing how the effects are done, when it's obvious and when its amazing that they did this with out computers. Seeing how we went from a "Any thing that moves amazes us" era to a rubber hose era where any object in the short could be any thing it wants to be with no logic and how a lot of the gags from cartoons also match gags from Buster Keaton , Chaplin and others like them.
and looking at how the same gags come BACK in Home Alone and how the same gags DON'T work in Ghostbusters 2016
How even though its the same joke, its not always funny.
Looking at how this humor died off and got replaced by story driven animation.
How animation quality evolved over decades. How in the 60s and 70s we went back to cheep animation.
and how if you are some one who thinks you "Can't draw" and thinks ":Animation is hard work and takes to long" that you can complete a whole cartoon with very little effort and very little talent. the only requirement is that your pictures move. NOT that they move well or look good. You can do a whole cartoon on just 3 frames on a loop and a back ground you zoom and pan across. It may not be good but it WILL be an animation and that DOES count as a Cartoon.
You don't even need to show mouths moving when charters talk. You don't need to show a walk cycle when charters walk. There are so many short cuts and even the best drawlers use them.
Animation's ONLY Rull is that it move and even then people don't do that step.
YOU can toss out whatever book told you "100 frames per second" and just do Moth open, moth closed on a loom and THAT is how a charter talks.
its NOT a stress kits NOT months of work
ONE man CAN draw 4,000 pictures them selves , alone, with out tracing and film it alone and make a finished product. It doesn't take a full teem of paid 100s working night and day on crunch time for years costing millions.
Animation is one of the easiest and most over thought art forms. So is drawing. You draw what you see. its not hard.
We worry so much over perfection which we can never achieve that we harshly judge our own work and we become afraid. We need to put aside doubt and just DO it.
All that being said we should never take the lazy short cut approach when we want to charge MONEY for a product. The moment you want to SELL it to the public you GOT to do effort. Don't lean in to canned, stock, puppet rigs and AI actually DO the work, polish it up and make it smooth. Lazy and simple is fine for a hobby but a REAL animation on a big screen, on a TV on any medium more accessible then just UA-cam, in a format you keep behind a pay wall, THAT is when you bring out the effort and show you really care. if you let some one else do the work and you take credit for there work, don't charge for it.
I predict these cartoons will be mentioned in this series:
Looney Tunes
The Simpsons
The Flintstones
Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!
The Smurfs
Inspector Gadget
Transformers
Beavis & Butt-Head
Regular Show
Animaniacs

Question 🙋♀️, when’s the first episode coming?
🙋🏻♂️ First episode will be with you very early next month!
Are going to review megamind 2?
Absolutely not! Lol
I’m going to be honest and say that I like animation more then live action.
I been making cartoon shorts of my own entitled Africoocoo! Been posting em here since 2020 b4 other social medias! My dream is to be part of Pixar because they need to add some 2D Into 1 of the future films!
Can You tell us when can we expect first episode, and how many parts this series will have? :)
First part will be with you very early next month 😊. Not sure how many parts there’ll be, but assuming people respond well, I plan for it to be a very long on-going series!
Let's go I hope we get some love for anime
You absolutely will! 😊
I expect to see some
Georges Méliès , Terrytoons , Winsor McCay, Max Fleischer and Thomas Edison
They’ll all be covered 😊
I see wallace and gromit in the thumbnail
I immediately click
Hell yes!! 🙌
Our boys will also get their own Cartoon Evolution installment later in the year!!
Animation is my desire of entertainment.
Hopefully this series can have a episode dedicated to the history of online animation (stuff like Eddsworld, Hazbin Hotel, Helluva Boss, Murder Drones, Lackadaisy, The Amazing Digital Circus, and any other notable animations that have been released online), because to me that's an important part of animation history.
Don’t forget Bravest Warriors, Meta Runner and BFDI.
@@RespectTheLogos3those count too, I can't mention like all of them in this one comment, it'll take forever
Happy Tree Friends was the first animated web series to really make a mark.
@@RespectTheLogos3 did you forgot that The Goddam George liquor program was the first Internet animated series ever?
This is what UA-cam was made for
😍
Can you upload video of Kirby cartoon evolution for me please, Dave?
Dude, stop asking.
@@evy9439 why, sir?
@@TramiNguyen-oi3kp Because he already said no.

Even cartoons made for the internet?
Are you aware that steamboat Willie is now public domain
Yes, very aware!
Let go dave
"Let go" or "Let's go" ? 😅😅😅
I think Stop Motion you also get a video
Stop Motion will definitley be covered at length 😊
The point of animation is not a genre it's a storytelling. People are analysing it and misanalysazing it as if it a genre it's not a genre it can be a horror film it can be adult comedies if it wanted to it could be a fairy tail it could be sci fi it could be musical it could be a mystery it could be anything
-Brad Bird Director of The Incredibles and Ratouille PIXAR
PS is this a series of video going over each era or is this one long explained video on the entire history of animation as a whole ❤
LOVE Brad’s words on animation!
It’s going to be a very large, sprawling, on-going series of 10-12 minute parts that should run for a number of years. I hope to get a couple installments out a month, if possible.
@@DaveLeeDownUnder ❤️👍 Thank You
