The reason you slow down when approaching a green traffic light is so you can stop safely when someone is in a hurry and makes a left turn across your lane. Then, you both go find clean underwear.
Wet highway, snarp-ish curve, high speed, and you get spin out, or you slide sideways and hit the curb or whatever else is there. This is commonly called being stupid.
When you have 2-3 car lengths between your car and the car ahead of you, and the mechanics on your car are working fine, there shouldn't any reason for you to rear-end the car ahead of you. Unless... you're on your cell phone and aren't only paying attention to only driving; you've fallen asleep at the wheel; your depth perception ability is way off, as is your ability to perceive motion
The truck driver in that last clip should get a medal for the way he avoided causing a multi car pileup or hitting the car on his left.
