- I was overseas in a rehearsal room before playing Rockhard festival in 2019. As tradition I put on a song that I hoped would conjure up the inspiration and additional excitement needed to make it a worthwhile show. The song I put on was "Reaching Horizons" by Angra. Later that night after a successful gig we were sitting in the hotel bar and I scrolled through social media to receive news that Andre Matos had passed away. I was a bit out of my element far from my home and place I was most comfortable so processing the lost was quite jarring on the road. Andre was one of my biggest and most notable influences as a singer, I've covered many of his songs before and in my earlier formative years I worked very hard to achieve a sound even close to being as good as his. It's taken me a while to accept that we have lost something irreplaceable but as I come to terms with this I thought it would only be appropriate to finally muster the courage and sing a song of his I've never sang before, A song that when I needed it it was there for me. Here is "Reaching Horizons" by "Angra", and may Andre forever live on through his music!

Thanks for sharing this beautiful tribute. The way you hit those high notes was magical. I agree, it's been difficult to accept Andre's passing. Such a talented musician, forever missed by his family, friends, and fans. I think about him and his family quite often and I hope that they're doing better now.
