- Manchester City, back in the first division after three seasons away, facing top of the table Chelsea in October 1966. Look out for a scrap involving Mike Summerbee and Eddie McCreadie and a friendly salute for the Kippax from Peter Osgood.
This was the first edition of Match of the Day to come from Maine Road. Notice that the cameras are above the Kippax and facing the main stand.
Manchester City 1-4 Chelsea, October 10th 1966.
Goals: Neil Young; Bobby Tambling, Tommy Baldwin, Joe Kirkup, Peter Osgood.
I am so pleased that in my life time I can say I saw all these teams, these greats like Osgood, Bell, Cooke, Lee, and so on, What really must confuse any young fan watching, NO DIVING
This really was when players were players, dedication and loyalty
Nice v sign from Ossie as he scored the fourth.
How did Chelsea not win the league that season
@vicsmith5000 Even as a City fan that made me laugh. Probably a three or four game ban for that in these humourless times.
@mcfcvideos Yes indeed...not everything has changed for the better !!
no that's called a sweeper that is the deepest centre back and those two in front of him are also centre backs so this formation is 5-3-2 :)
tambling #11 drogba #11- great legends including frankie lampard. the wonderful #8
back when teams played a sweeper
0.32 isn't this formation really offensive, [1-4-3-2]
4:55 Peter! Behave yourself!
Omg no gay ham acting diving.
football was so easy back then....
now the sport got more money and players got diets and special way of life just for football
Челси Класс
1-4-3-2 wtf hahaha
