  • Shaved ice or Bingsu in Korea is a must have dessert item especially in the hot summer heat. But a few years ago luxury hotel chains started a LUXURY Bingsu war with some of the most expensive Bingsu you can find.

You know the food is good when Mikey takes a bite, slowly closes his eyes and opens them with him usually looking to the left or right!😂😂😂😂👍🏼

The reason why some of these bingsoos are really expensive is because fruits are extremely expensive in Korea!! The prices are insane that even a box of asian pears or apples can go up to 100,000 won! In Korean culture it's really respectful and normal to give a box of fruits as a gift

ooohhh. That makes sense. They have them in taiwan too but it's like $1 there for a bigger bowl with fresh fruits and more ingredients so I nearly fainted when i saw mikes prices. But why are they so expensive though?

The first mango bingsu looked amazing. I love how fluffy the shaved I’ve was. Asian desserts are so different to traditional western ones. I’ve had a similar Vietnamese dessert with the shaved ice, sweet red beans, grass jelly and coconut milk.

Go to Korean Dessert Cafe and review the melon sulbing! It comes in a melon it's amazing! Also bingsu = shaved ice and sulbing = shaved milk. Most of those were sulbings.

Yes!! He is an inspiring fun Food Vlogger!! Omg, as good and funny as Guy Fieri - maybe funnier!! Both know their food, the ingredients, and how to share with out an ego!! They know many of their viewers won't ever "get there"... But they tells us the experience as if we're eating along with them. And also great ideas for those who live near-by or can travel to these places. Mike is aways humble, always remembering his roots. Many of us had humble beginnings, so props to Mikey Chen, staying true to his Asian foods and flavors, while branching out as well. ❤

YOU ALWAYS SURPRISE ME WITH YOUR DEEP UNDERSTANDING ON KOREAN FOOD!
When I saw the thumbnail, I just expected to watch Park Hyatt's v. Seolbing thingy, BUT you literally tasted the best samples of "luxury" bingsu and the normal(?) one!
BTW among the luxury bingsu, Park Hyatt's is my favorite-not because of its taste but because of the great view of the Lounge!😅
Oh.. btw if you want to taste the most "traditional" bingsu in Korea, then visit "Meal-top(밀탑)". As it is located in the top of every Hyundai Department Store, so it is really easy to find, and it is famous for its Redbeans-which aren't tooooo sweet yet very well balanced-and that's Korean style😅.

what a fun video....especially to film!! I'm a bit of a plain-Jane, but I also would prefer the "natural flavor" vs the most-likely artificial strawberry flavor in the $8 one. For me, it looked like #3 would be my preference, but surely I would need someone to help me eat it! Now Mike, how can we duplicate their finely textured ice in America? You "need" to do a cooking video on making bingsu!!! :-)
