Demonstration of an easy method of Rubber Dam Placement for a single tooth situation. Ideal for Root Canal Treatment or Class I Composite Restorations.
Abdullah Mursi Yes if you can achieve good expansion with just one punch, that that is all required. Additional punches are done so that the dam material does not tear during expansion
expect more from you guys (or guy?) please do videos on isolation for class 2 composite restorations..tying floss tag to get everted margins , liquid dams optra gate , good brands of dam clamps... rubber dams etc etc..
Thanks for stopping by and asking a question 😊Three holes is a beginners move and is done at the same site with a slight overlap to widen the hole. The larger the hole the less the tendency for the ram to split as you stretch it . As you get more proficient you can move to single punch holes . The sharpness of the punch also plays a crucial role . I have found that whenever you don’t make a clean cut the chances of tearing the dam is high
thank you doctor ... that was great!!.. If you could show us please clamp selection and how to place both clamp and band for MOD or class2 cavities.. THANX
Thank you very much for the video. It really helped me. May you plaese make a video about tooth reduction for placing a bridge, i always fail in showing my finish line
I just followed same technique in the vdo, It is perfectly done ,but is there any need to apply dental floss for adaptation of rubber dam sheet as many company vdo s recommend?
Dear Smita, if I had to redo this video I would suggest wrapping floss around the clamp before application. I missed in when I edited the video. Also flossing between the contacts of the isolated tooth is a good practice for better isolation. Thank you for dropping by and I am very glad that it helped
kindly make a vedio on different clamps for different teeth like you used here for molar plz show us different clamps like for premolars canine and incisors
Hi Piyush, thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I did not get your question about "dam in buccal lingual contact". However regarding the Multiple tooth isolation , I will be releasing a video shortly to address that concern.
I wanted to ask... What's your phone brand? Hahaha. I'm so funny 😂 thanks for the very helpful video. You were explaining things so thoroughly and slowly 😌
very nicely explained sir...bravo the only question i have is is rubber dam a good option to use in class V caries...if yes how to go about it if the caries is at or below the gingival margin...thank you sir
Dear Pulkit, the evolution of matrices for Class V situations has made Rubber Dam use for Class V's redundant. Today if i want a bloodless field, I use my electrocautery unit to do a bit of gingivectomy which then allows me to place the matrix. I will be doing a video soon on the Class V matrices along with how you can modify a mylar strip for Class V use. Thank for dropping a line.
Sir, I have been following your technique for a long time, and it's about 90% working great, but in 10% cases, I find the dam doesn't touch the molar from mesial and distal side, once I release it from the wings. Any tips?
Aaron Sarwal . What you can do is release the rubber dam from the corner times to make it slightly loose and then push the dam material with the back end of a tweezer towards the tooth. The rubber dam should snugly encircle the tooth. Thanks for dropping by and using the technique
@@raman9p This is a link to a split dam technique. although its titled for class 2 restorations, if you don't apply a sectional ring the technique can be applied for crown preparation too. ua-cam.com/video/Cqdor_8w4i4/v-deo.html
i saw a root canal procedure on youtube today and he didn't used rubber dam , many commented about it thats how i got here , can u tell me that is it necessary and what is it's work....thank you.
Krishna Gangwani the advantage of a root canal or any procedure done under the rubber dam is that you can can work in a saliva less field with full concentration on the task at hand. Saliva contains a lot of bacteria which can interfere with treatment. Blood from the gums can also sometimes seep in and throw a spanner into the mix. So in one word the advantage lies in isolation
Hi Ruchi, Here's a video I made after your query. It details posterior multiple tooth isolation for a Class II restoration. ua-cam.com/video/Cqdor_8w4i4/v-deo.html
Thank You Arun for stopping by. I have made a video detailing the difference in placement order when using wingless clamps. Forceps handling style does not change, only order of placement. ua-cam.com/video/YzBKolmRvRE/v-deo.html
Hi Amaresh, the method of taking an Xray with a Rubber Dam in place involves releasing the dam from the frame and folding it to the side towards the nearest cheek. Now you will have space to place the Xray Film/ Sensor and take the Xray.
Could you please show how to use rubber dam for a tooth that doesn't have a crown or its curious up to the gingiva on the buccal and/or lingual side? Those are the ones I have trouble isolating. Thanks
Before placing the rubber dam inform the patient about having to swallow his/her saliva. Get them to practise it a couple of times if you need to. Then apply the dam and ask them to it with the dam in place.
Hi Arshiya, while the use of winged or wingless is a personal preference, wingless is pretty handy when doing restorative work as sometimes the wings interfere with placement of the sectional matrix
Hi and thanks for the question. Once properly isolated the dam seals the tooth and the need for a saliva ejector is only to vacuum the irrigant that pools in the dam . If getting a proper seal is difficult then you can inject some gingival barrier around the tooth for additional seal.
@@gamalfarouk6619 Once the dam is placed, there will always be one place where liquid pools. As a test , use the 3 way syringe to put some water on the tooth and watch where the water collects in the dam. That would be the place for the tip of the saliva ejector to be placed. Ask the assistant to aply very slight downward pressure thereby creating a depression in the dam which will facilitate movement of the fluid towards the ejector. If the speed of irrigation is adjusted, then you can also have the assistant place the tip of the saliva ejector touching the irrigation needle on the occlusal surface of the access prep and mop up the irrigant as it exits the access cavity

does anyone know which brand material is being used?
It is a very good video.
Can you help me regarding how to use wingless clamp.
I have Coltene Hygenic wingless rubber dam kit.
When it comes to wingless clamps you have to place the clamp on first and then drape the rubber dam hole around it and then you put the frame on last

Can the clamp cut the patient's gums surrounding the tooth being worked on?
Thanks for the question. Yes it can cut into the gums or cause tiny puncture wounds but they heal really fast.

Do I leave the metal frame in the patient's mouth?
Thanks for the question Ramona. Once the procedure is completed, the frame along with the dam and clamp should be removed.

Lol when the phone rang 😂😂😂
My dentist just washes out the patient's mouth with soap and then gets to work.

When you have a tooth which is very short, then what I do is clamp the gingiva about 2 mm below the cervical margin after anesthetising well
