Great list! Two of my favourite Wolverine stories are both from Greg Rucka's run, namely "Brotherhood" and "Coyote Crossing". I would have added them to the list.
I know it's not as epic as some of the entries but my favorite Wolverine story is "Goodbye Chinatown" from the Jason Aaron run. Something of a pallet cleanser for Aaron's prior arc, the story is a fun look at Wolverine dealing with some long neglected responsibilities as he investigates some unusual deaths in the San Francisco area. Along the way he meets a who's who of delightfully C list and D list characters to deal with supervillain who feels like a female take on Flash Gordon's Ming the Merciless. In short it's over the top, bizarre and silly, but in the best kind of way, and all tied together with the humanity that Jason Aaron excels at breathing into even the most outrageous of characters.
Excellent work, Joel. :) Is it possible you could do ten required works of Superman or Dr. Strange? The latter is hard, as a diehard Strange fan, but the former should be interesting to see as well.
Greg Rucka's run was really good and i really like Jason Aaron's run, although it gets kinda weird with the whole hell thing, Way's Origin run was pretty good until the whole Romulus thing
Joel you basically named all my favourite Wolverine books but Wolverine goes to hell is another really good title. Jason Aaron at his best with no Orb in sight.
I was Surprised to see that Neither Wolverine Goes to Hell Nor the Romulus & Daken Wolverine Origins stories were mentioned. My Favorite Wolverine stories Are in The Wolverine: Origins stories and What Started As Wolverine goes to Hell and Lasted about 35 or so issues. Wolverine is Not Only my Favorite Marvel Comic Book Character but he is my Favorite Comic Book Character Period!! There is No Other Character in Comics that is as Cool as Logan. None that have had the Depth of Story like he has. I can still remember the first time I found out Who he was, it was in the Very First set of Marvel Comics Trading Cards (in which there were 3 Different Wolverine cards). They gave A small Bio on the back of the card and I got Wolverine in my first pack and After that I became Fascinated with his character. They came out in 1990 and I was 10 Years Old. Needless to say I collected the whole set and continued for the next few Series' they released. Then when the X-Men Animated Series came out in 1993 I was Beside myself with Joy. I found out later on that there was an X-Men Animated Series that came out in 1989 but I Don't know why I Never Saw that one. Which in Hindsight is All well and Good because they gave Wolverine A Friggin English Accent!! SMH. Anyway I'm Glad That you put this list up, I think that you should Definitely Put A "Part 2" to include the other Amazing Wolverine stories that were left out of this list. Thanks. P.S.- I Forgot to mention the X-Men: Manifest Destiny- Wolverine 4 issue Story. The First issue pays homage to Shaw Bros and the Classic Kung Fu Cinema of the 70's by putting "The Master Killer" Gordon Liu on the Bottom of the Cover. The Story is based in San Francisco Chinatown District and how Logan has to Relearn how to Fight like A Samurai. I Definitely think that this and the ones that I previously mentioned should be put in A Second List.
The editing in this video is really good, the one thing i would recommend would be to space out the names of the writers and artists and such, or make their titles a different font/color. Otherwise its hard to tell who's who at a glance.
Hey, I've never read a marvel comic before and want to start with wolverine but am not sure where to begin. Out of these comics what would you suggest I start with
John Byrne is Canadian?! Wow. Anyways, cool list. You know years back Marvel released an Omnibus containing most of the great classic Wolverine stories you mentioned. Problem is, it's an Omnibus! So when they ran out of print, the price for it got jacked the f up.
MC Presents Weapon X was the only origin story you really needed. Wolverine: Origin was so unnecessary and led to the character being irredeemably overexposed.
great job Joel. some advice... the "writer" and "editor" should be a different color than the names. hard to differentiate the title and names of people on the comic. other than that, you're the man! keep it up
Joel let's talk... ABOUT THAT NEW NIGHTWING MOVIE THOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OK Casting first pick as Dick Kit Harrington, Zac Efron, and Miles Teller Villains.... Raptor maybe Tony Zuko as Black Mask And Red X, YES Red X from the cartoon show
Slade Wilson You wouldn't say the same if the actor for Green Arrow was Antonio Banderas. Look all I'm saying is I just want a 100% accurate depiction of my favorite DC hero, and anyone that says otherwise shouldn't get a say cause they aren't true fans.
So since when Wolverine is poisoning by adamantium bones at him self? Those comics hasn't explained about that! Then now why became poisoning from adamantium?? Can somebody explain to me?
Too much metal in the bloodstream is poisonous. Logan never got sick from his metal bones because his healing factor fought off the poisoning. But when he loses his healing factor, he gets metal poisoning. The same thing happened in the Logan movie, too.
This is a great video. It's just a shame that the movie incarnation is a pale imitation. Maybe one day, when Marvel reclaims their rightful property, we will finally see a true Wolverine on the big screen.

Aw man Enemy of the State is awesome. Some of JRJR's best work imo.

2 Reasons I like origin . 1 it takes place in the late 19 too early 20th century and introduce my favorite character dog Logan.
Nice reading list. One thing that needs correcting. Wolverine's bone claws were revealed in Fatal Attractions.
Just added a little note to the video saying just that. Thank you
Thanks Man 🙏
This was a Really Great episode of Required Reading. What am I Talking about? All of the Required Reading episodes are Great. 😁
You forgot to mention Wolverine the Brother hood ( 2004 ) by Greg Rucka. That's a really good story for Wolverine :)

How about do required reading for my favorite hero spider-man please or x-23
Wolverine #90 is my favorite
Do more MUST READ!!! They are great!
I hope to, I love doing them but they might be the hardest thing I do.
The bright blade flashes, Inscribing the final arc, On all tomorrows...
Hey, I've never read a marvel comic before and want to start with wolverine but am not sure where to begin. Out of these comics what would you suggest I start with

Damn good video Joel
MC Presents Weapon X was the only origin story you really needed. Wolverine: Origin was so unnecessary and led to the character being irredeemably overexposed.
So If I want someone to start wolverine I should recommend weapon x instead of origin
Man, Marvel Japan in the 80's had a rough time with all these ninjas and yakuza.
sick show keep it going!
High Tide and Birthday Boy can replace those last 4
Watching this after Deadpool wolverine and hearing him say last appearance on the screen made me laugh
Thanks so much for this list Joel please do a required reading next on spider man!
Joel will caped TV be up later today?
great job Joel. some advice... the "writer" and "editor" should be a different color than the names. hard to differentiate the title and names of people on the comic. other than that, you're the man! keep it up
wolverine is one of my favorite marvel characters he so fucking badass
I would like a video about Thanos stories.
I would love to see Hulk vs Wolverine in the MCU
Please add Uncanny X-Men #205 and Wolverine vs Spider-Man (1987) to the second list, they are great standalone stories!
Joel let's talk...

OK Casting first pick as Dick
Kit Harrington, Zac Efron, and Miles Teller
Villains....
Raptor maybe
Tony Zuko as Black Mask
And Red X, YES Red X from the cartoon show
im_not_spidey id like it if Steven Yeun became Nightwing
kylehasstyle138 HELL NO Dick stays white. If they're gonna do Nightwing they're gonna do it right god damn it!!
Slade Wilson
You wouldn't say the same if the actor for Green Arrow was Antonio Banderas.

The same thing happened in the Logan movie, too.
@CapedJoel
I see, I know about that, but why doesn't explain this from decades 🤔?!
I actually think you should do this more often.
Would love to do these more often, its just they are the hardest/most time consuming videos I make.
Caped-Joel I can imagine maybe it could be something you do once a month.
Caped Joel fanfic required reading?

This is a great video. It's just a shame that the movie incarnation is a pale imitation. Maybe one day, when Marvel reclaims their rightful property, we will finally see a true Wolverine on the big screen.
