    I live in small town. When I'm going to trip I get to airport way earlier as well because planes fly to Moscow in the morning. There I hang on my following plane some hours. And there I like to eat in the café, shopping or napping)))

    This summer I'll be flying for the first time in ...25 years!! That's because I had a terrible experience in that last flight. Well, I hope this time it won't be that bad 😅. My wife and I are Spanish, and we'll be travelling to Sweden to visit our daughter, who lives and works there. I'm a little stressed about all the process of flying, but let's be optimistic. I really like, love and adore your videos... and you both 😊. Thank you so much!!

    I have never taken a flight, so cann't say what my habits might be . I am not even sure that I would be stress free if I flied:-)
    Why not " security" need there article?
    Thank you, your podcast is useful!

    • @highlevellistening
      @highlevellistening  14 днів тому +1

      Thanks for sharing and good question! Articles are extremely inconsistent in English, and sometimes it's hard to explain the logic behind some of them.
      All the signs in English in airports have no articles. "Immigration" : "Security" : "Customs" : "Baggage Claim" etc etc. Perhaps this is the reason we don't use articles when we speak either.
      It might also be similar to other types of transport. Like train stations for example: "The train is arriving at Platform 1" (no article there either)
      I hope that helps a little!

    If I have to travel. I would go there early too because I do not want to be stressed out. Especially, I do not want to get blocked on the road. I think that it is the best way to go there early. It is better safe than sorry. Also, I do not like the long line as teacher Cat said as well. However, I like to check in stand because I alway have to drop my heavy bags off. When both of you mentioned about security check. I can imagine about it. I really feel like they are not friendly because they always shout or yell. I do not understand why they have to act like that. 😅😅😅
    After checking in, I will head down to the gate throughly because I feel like I feel safe that I would not feel missing the flight ✈️. For me, I will grab something lightly to eat like just a small bread and fresh coffee to wake me up.
    Please give me some feedback how I used my English sentences. Thanks in advance for your help.

      Wow - thanks so much for sharing! Well done using so many of the phrases and vocab from the lesson!
      Some corrections:
      - "However, I like to [go to] the check in [desk / kiosk] because ..."
      - "I will head down to the gate [quickly / directly] because I feel [sure that] I [will not miss the flight].
      - "For me, I will grab something [lift] to eat, like a small [sandwich / roll]..."
      Well done again - thanks for studying with us!

      It's okay! There's no "correct" accent in English - and you never have to "hide" your mother tongue :)

    Thank you so much. However, I have a question about what Marc said « It’s better to be too cautious than take any risk » In fact I thought a gerund form was necessary here : « than taking any risk » May I ask you to explain why he didn’t use this form? Thanks a lot.

    • @highlevellistening
      @highlevellistening  15 днів тому +2

      Great question:
      It’s better to do this than do that
      It’s better to go to bed early than stay up late.
      A similar sentence but using the gerund:
      Doing this is better than doing that.
      Going to bed early is better than staying up late.
      Just a little difference starting with “it’s better…”
      Hope that helps!
