That near miss with the lady - the one that kept backing up despite seeing him - is more representative of the current social mentality around (although I must say he was ballsy/irresponsible doing what he did, I would never in a million years try to pull that move). In this society the majority is still stuck with the motto: bikes are inferior, cars reign the road, you should ride on the sidewalk.

This is insane. I went to Madeira last October and I would not dare to take my bike on open roads, especially when there's cars involved too. People drive their cars down and uphill like crazy....didn't see anybody on a road bike in 10 days on the island. Amazing place though! And breathtaking video. 🔥🔥
@@12Burton24 speed under control means being able to slow down when you want, not just within law requirements. Brian is able to do that, just doesn't want to.
@@Kaiweeks Slowing down when you want you can do with 300km/h the question is can you stop within a distance. and this person is clearly unable to stop in any case of closer incoming traffic. Beside that local speed limits count for every vehicle also riders. You should stop thinking you cab ride like the pros on close secured streets.

Pretty stupid from him not to stop because the car was on the road before the rider was visible means you are not able to make the driver of the car responsible if you crash the car because your right of way is gone if you would be able to brake down and someone is on the street way before they can see you.
@@12Burton24 You can't cut off "an entire" street because you feel like it. She was not doing any tricks, simply interrupting the free movement of the rest of the people. Cutting, going under the minimum, etc. are faults.
@@Elmaryan @Elmaryan 60 in a village is also not allowed. Stop means all your wheels have to stop not 17km/h. The car is not cutting the car is turning and when the car started the cyclist was not visible you are forced by law to stop and let the car do the turning. You dont gain a right of way over the other person.
Nice to see that even when your bombing hills you take the safe line. reassuring for us mortals bombing descents that it’s more important to be safe than fast and dead

@@404nobrakes I got more skill than Safa has in my back pocket. Been racing road bikes and mountainbikes for more years than most people like Safa have even owned bikes. I don't race anymore but I've got experience Mister. If Safa had the balls he would go to Moab, Utah and ride some death defying downhills there. I've done it.
Yet another Safa special. Perhaps its a combination of Aero bike/wheels/tires, lower tuck position, smooth roads and warmer air, but it seems for the grade you are descending, your avg speeds are higher by a few kph. Curious to know your thoughts.
The bike is definitely faster and the wheels must be helping too. I really like the flat back position this bike puts me in. The 54/40 keeps me hammering the pedals on the flatter stuff too which I've really been enjoying.

The 180° rule may be good, but I would like to be able to freeze frames to identify the vegetation on the road. Solanum mauritianum may be present, it's a miraculous plant that allows you to do without stripping products to clean your bike transmission, and do the dishes too!
Friend, sometimes you take a lot of risks. This downhill somehow reminded me of motorcycle racing on the Isle of Man, only there on the track all the corners, walls, fences, they try to protect at least with compressed hay, well, or other means, and everything is adult for you. Respect you!
