- In today's video, we dive into the world of FIFA Career Mode. Is it still as enjoyable as it used to be, or have the bugs and issues taken over? We'll tackle all of these questions in detail.
First off, is FIFA Career Mode playable? Despite a few bugs, it's still enjoyable. Dynamic potential issues, menu glitches, and challenging board objectives can be frustrating, but they haven't ruined the overall experience, at least not in my shorter playthroughs.
But how does FIFA 24 stack up compared to its predecessors? The strengths and weaknesses remain largely unchanged. It's great for those who love developing young talents but not so much for those craving realistic AI behavior, especially in transfers. Clubs like Athletic Bilbao making unrealistic signings and rapid budget inflation in lower divisions are persistent issues.
Older players still decline rapidly, which should be tied to their professionalism or stamina stats. Unfortunately, there are no new leagues added, and several national teams have been removed, affecting the unlicensed World Cup mode.

My biggest problem with this game mode isn’t actually the game mode itself, it’s the gameplay. It doesn’t matter what tactical vision you have or what playstyles a player has…your midfielders don’t track back, you can’t tackle, the AI always catch up to you and the keeper animations are broken. Oh and every corner I concede results in a goal. Doesn’t matter how realistic you keep things off the pitch, on the pitch game mechanics will fuck you over inevitably.
Line length 30-40 thanks me later
It was the same on fifa 23, so it was not fun and unplayable for me

Also before, tackles were more effective! Now sometimes your defender miss the tackle (just don't touch the ball) when the opponent is just going to the defender...
One of the big things that piss me off for years is when you loan players out you can never tell how they're getting on with their stats unless they're loaned in the same league as you , otherwise they only get game time in the cups
exactly, yet when you get a player on loan and he doesn't play AI recalls him back, also it would be good to split the loan player salary.
The thing that I hate about career mode is the objectives. In one of my careers I picked arsenal and they want you to do the treble in the first season
Some of them are ridicules. I played as Bayern. Winning almost every game, but I was at risk of loosing my job because I didn't sign 3 African young players. How would this look like in real life? XD Yes, you won every single competition, but we don't care, you didn't sign young players, so you are fired.

It’s absolutely insane that they don’t have the option to turn off manager sacking or at very least choose your objectives. I boycotted this year. Why am I gonna grind through a whole dam season just to get fired from my championship side because I couldn’t beat man city in the FA cup.

On my career save, Martinelli was top goal scoring in January. Then Arsenal sold him in January to bayer leverkusen Europa league team. Makes no sense!

I'd like career mode to be more like a lite version FM but with playable matches, basically exactly how EA did it with FIFA Manager back in the day
I don't think they go too technical because a lot of kids play the game and they want to keep it simple but if they had a manager + mode that was like that it would be amazing
I played every version of FIFA from 08 to 15, and career mode was always the main reason why I'd buy the game. In 2015, I sold my Xbox 360 and moved to another country. There were so many things happening in my life... I simply didn't have time to play video games anymore. But honestly, I always missed the fun and joy of playing it. It was only in 2020, COVID times, that I decided to go back to the game and believe me, I played thousands of hours since then. I'd get frustrated with the gameplay but would end up buying the next version nonetheless. Not this time though. It's about time for me to give up. The fun man, it's just not there anymore. It's all about UT, and I can't help but think that if the football gaming market wasn't so monopolized by EA, we would actually have a very good game to play. Just look at other genres of video games and how they evolved regarding the realism aspects that every game-developing company aims for nowadays. EA can make good graphics, yes, but to me, the gameplay is poor, with players that feel like they're floating on the pitch. TBH I've had more fun playing e-football than FIFA 23. I mean, we're talking e-football guys!!! xD much love y'all

fifa 2015 was such a good game. I started losing interest in the gameplay after 2019. Rubber banding, and your team turning into morons if you had a 3 goal lead, ruined the game for me.

It's wild how much realism, and perhaps a rework of the youth academy could do to the game mode.
The biggest issue I have with career mode in Fifa is that it's always been far away from EA's main focus. Of course, everybody knows that Fifa's "main" gamemode has always been Ultimate Team (since it was first introduced). The worst thing is that career mode was legit better in Fifa 2013 and has just been going downhill ever since.
250 hours. 65k subscribers! Many videos helping people have fun with this game since it's release. I appreciate the dedication and I hope you had fun in those hours.

Been playing career mode on fc 24 and the only thing I dislike is the lack of walkouts for me on PC. I really enjoyed hearing the champions league music while they all stood in the line and now I can't get that anymore. Plus the music sometimes just doesn't play and just plays the wierd new intro music rather than CL music.

My biggest problem is that lower league teams make no to few signings every season they use the same players and lineups.
The problem with fifa on frostbite engine is that , they all skating and the ball is unrealistic.Fifa FC with the hypermotion tech , is unplaybale because there are to many animations , and you have no control of players at all.
To be honest I have started playing PES 16 masterleague instead of FC 24. I just wanted something totally different from fifa 22 and 23
The main problem with career mode isn’t actually to do with career mode, it’s to do with gameplay. The AI are dumb, have terrible positioning and the players have to stick in a formation defensively. Meaning the AI players can’t press you to get the ball back, as there would be a gap. It means the gameplay is slow, sluggish and unresponsive. For once, I’d love to see the opposition DM track my LW running on the inside and make a last-ditch tackle to prevent a shot. That’d be fun and competitive.
I’m very slowly moving fully away from FIFA/FC and playing more and more FM. And I think when FM24 releases, the excitement is going to lead to me probably not playing FC24 for a good few months. FM is everything FC isn’t. Fun. Responsive AI. Whilst the graphics are worse, the gameplay is much more realistic. If a defender pushes up to challenge an attacker, the full-backs and remaining CB will shift to close any gaps left.
Overall, Career Mode this year is probably the best since FIFA 21. However with FM on a very gradual, but rapid rise, I can see myself (by FC25/26) not buying the game. EA don’t care about the game and the game is falling behind it’s competitors.

Yea fm23 took some time getting used to the point i remember uninstalling the game but i was so infatuated with the attention to detail and how realistic it is i re installed it and forced myself to learn it. Football manager is a great game, but if your expecting fifa u will be dumbfounded, fifa and football manager cannot be compared as fifa is more arcadey and FM is actual REALISM, it took me almost 6 months to fully understand what i was doing lol. But that game is fucking insane
i switched from ea fc24 aka fifa 24 to football manager 23, and i'll buy fm24 next month. sure, you can't control the players in fm23 like you can in fifa, but the complexity and the amount of things you can do is a lot better than what fifa ever offered.

Yo tengo poca experiencia con FM , el primero que jugué fue el 22 y lo utilicé para aprender, ahora con algo más de experiencia compré el 24 y estoy probando al Milán en la beta, nada que ver con FIFA todo es más realista e inmersivo y no es para nada fácil ganar, hay que prepararse para los partidos, tomar decisiones es excelente! This was the first EA sports game I didn't buy since FIFA17. I basically only get it for the career mode, and I had really hoped that losing their FIFA naming rights would have shocked them into making a really polished and innovative product to launch the EAFC franchise. Unfortunately they have just become lazy and are still pumping out unfinished games which lack core features, innovative mechanics, and are often either slower, more glitchy, and lack some of the features of their predecessors. It's not that they don't have the money, talent, or community feedback to invest in a great department to put together a proper career mode. They are just lazy and know that the cash cow is UT. I don't want a game as in-depth as FM, but I want optional features that allow you to go really in-depth into the manager experience. Things like specific coaching roles, club management regarding stadiums and training facilities, youth academies, scouting, contracts, tactics, interactions with players, agents, fans, and the media. There are so many things that could be overhauled or made more in-depth that a proper, well-funded gaming developer could put together in a year. At the moment these games are just reskins which aren't even supported properly. I currently play FIFA23 and the career mode is still littered with minor bugs which will never be ironed out because EA just don't care - such a terrible game developer.

It sounds like what most people want are just the Football Manager games.
I just want Veikkausliiga (Finnish Premiership). I remember when you were able to create your own teams or download them - so people me included created every single team, player and so on from Finland and you could replace Allsvenskan (Sweden) teams with them and play the career mode with them.
Creation Centre, ngl that was legendary.
Made the Beneliga in CM this season. Put the Top 10 Dutch and top 8 Belgian teams into the top league in France and put the remaining dutch and belgian teams into the french 2nd division. I had to keep 4 french 2nd division teams, so picked the ones closest to the Belgian boarder. I then split the french teams equally across the Belgian and Dutch leagues, so that you still get the top french teams in the European competitions. This is working well so far, done a season and a half.
The biggest question I always ask myself is that why did EA remove the aggressive pressing it was so good in FIFA19
I believe that they actually going with marketing tactics. That they trying to move career mode people to ultimate team by making it boring with career. It serves a lot of birds with one stone. In fact I would say to fifa 08- 12 prior ultimate team ( I didn’t realise that it was before ultimate team until I thought about it 😂) was much more fun than now although it was of course with less graphics.
This is very helpful for those of us just picking up the game for free or super cheap . Games change so much after launch that a “up to date “ review are something I wish more games would do

Why remove the 2 quick save spots, how does that improve the experience? Go back to any year since they added the global transfer network you can find career mode regressing, they may add on small additions that quickly feel meaningless. Since they have been able to monetise pro clubs you see better developments. I'm convinced eventually they will remove career mode so they can focus on other modes, as its not generating them any revenue.
I have a feeling they might remove it next year and just put up updates to ea 24 and tell everyone if you wana play career mode, just patch and play fc 24
the biggest change that isnt revolutionaly (i think) is the ai manager actually putting their best players in squad (as u said real madrid is buying mbappe and haaland and still ancelotti is going to put joselu in striker) i think it kills whole game. teams that are actually huge and spend huge amounts of money (which i dont really mind cause inflation in fifa career mode was always craaaazy and doesnt really do that much maybe kills a bit realism) but i think thats the biggest problem of manager career

Being honest the problem with career mode is the gameplay, huge gap between world class and legendary/ultimate, ai is impossible to play against and will always score a stupid goal no matter how well you play, defending never works can magically have a gap appear just walk through tackles, goalkeepers are useless its nowhere near a fun experience. Don't mind being harder to play against but when game mechanics don't work then theres no point at all.
Agreed - the step up from WC to Legendary is insane. I went from beating Man City 5-1 to losing by the same scoreline to Wolves after changing the level. Every opposition player becomes as good technically as Messi and their every shot flies into the goal.
Been pissing about with sliders on legendary to find the right balance because default legendary is just ridiculous. still end up running away with it every game. Feel lost.

EA just dont care enough about career mode. I think its because they cant make that much money out of career mode. This game should not have this many bugs. Its ridiculous how many bugs there are every year.
Going through seasons without getting any injuries, AI never makes sliding tackles or getting red cards. Also near impossible to get a penalty 🙃
The biggest problem for me is the Lack of Win allocation after matches. You have to win the entire trophy cabinet
Im 14, i´ve been playing career mode since fifa 18 when i was 8, and since then things have gone dull. For the first time in my life, after having 2000+ hours on every fifa i have played combined, i moved to football manager and didn´t buy this years game. BASICALLY MOVE TO FOOTBALL MANAGER, it´s everything the career mode community has ever wanted.
I play both, started with FIFA in like 2006 and started with FM in 2015. FM is way more interesting imo but I can understand some people just want to play the games and not watch it.. (I like FM more)
The only reason why I won't buy FM 2024 is that you can't insert face logo and kit logo on PS5
Fifa career mode has been dull for some time and the answer to make it playable is live editor or mods. But EA add anticheat program that read mods as cheat. Anticheat has become a killjoy for me.
The worse thing is more and more teams/leagues are being removed each year!!! I’m a type of guy which likes doing realistic saves with real managers but they’re so much less options they’ve even went and deleted all MLS managers
Morale is absolutely broken and noone is talking about it, my star players riot when i put them on the bench once while my backups are crying about not getting enough gametime, then i end up getting sacked because the squad atmosphere is bad and it hurts the clubimage. had that happen three times in a row now, not once in 23
I feel the changes in Manager career are mostly pointless. I like the tactical vision and the coaches aspect is okay and pretty confusing. The player training plans is poorly done, glitchy and last years way of it was miles better.
The biggest problem is game ruining bugs ie not being able to stay with your current club in player career at the end of the season and not being able to sack a coach and hire a better one in your manager career because it’ll force your game to crash. Game testing wasn’t done properly, clearly. Or, worse still, they knew about the bugs but put the game out as is anyway.

All I know is I buy the games FOR career mode & can’t play mine because of a bug that doesn’t let me resign anybody. Nice to know I have more bugs ahead of me :)
Was loving my career mode was 4 seasons, objective was sign 3 North American players which I did then got sacked because I didn’t complete the objective and not played it since just ruined the fun completely
There shouldn’t even be manager sacking if they don’t care to do it right. Why is something like that even an objective. EA is trash.
What I want to know is the game worth 30 pound or am I gunna play it for a couple of days then get bored.
My problem with Career mode is that every team feels the same. Finances are pretty pointless when im always going to get more money and finding youth players and scouting are stupid easy. All League 2 teams feel the same all Ligue 1 teams feel the same apart from the massively rich ones. And playing the game is pointless because even Legendary feels easy. Nothing really distinguishes a team in the same league like FM does and it makes it a massive bore.

I was dissopointed by not having option for playing Czech FORTUNA league. Luckily I could choose Slavia, Sparta or Plzen to play for and also put these three teams to PL. So I did and I enjoy it.
There are few things I would change, but anyway, I enjoy the game. Especially when winning. 😄😄
Thank you for that video. I’ve got a question to the whole community: I’m also a lover of career mode and in FIFA 17-21 I have 700h+ in every single one of them. I also enjoyed 22 and 23 but EA FC 24 was the first one I ever returned. None of the players where acting according to your tactics. Players would randomly leave positions and open spaces; in my opinion they broke the whole game. I always bet friends and my husband by results like 10:1, 16:2, 8:3 you name it. In EA FC 24 the whole play was so broken that everyone started beating me. You are not getting rewarded with good Defence anymore, you basically can’t really defend anymore. In online seasons I would have games like 7:6 all the time. Did they eventually fixed that game or is it still that shit? FC 25 is my big hope because if that will be same as catastrophic I will keep playing the last title of fifa, which then would be outdated by 2 years …
You should share some of the saves you are doing like a series
I don't understand the complaint about AI transfer. Just like the player's team has players in low form or injured so do the CPU teams. Hence why star players might be off sometimes.
I miss most objectives and dont get fired, as long as you complete 1 critical then you’ll keep your job

The Czech league got removed after Fifa 11, with the reasoning being that the Czech FA didn't feel like they were getting paid enough / wanted more money to be in the game. Years later they realized that it was a huge mistake to withdraw from Fifa as it was quite a good platform to show off the league, so they inquired about getting back into Fifa. EA said that now the Czech FA had to pay to be in the game and that's the reason the Czech league is not in the game.
The lack of pregame walkouts is terrible for me, what an awful decision.

Fifas biggest issue in career mode is the fact all the good teams just get worse with time. Wolves for some reason always end up top of the prem for me. All the top teams have an average squad age of 35 and then they never buy any young players. So i will spank man city 6 nil but cant be some random european team cos they have loads of wonderkids
I am fed up of when you put a player for loan and then the club wants to buy them to say no, you’re having the person for two or one year and then they’ll be back

i wish they let us add playstyles to our players we created to use during the manager career mode
I played about 20 trial games in kick off/tournament to try and adjust the sliders and finally found sliders that work so there’s no high scoring matches but still the game just isn’t fun
It’s the same thing as last year, last year I tried playing with new teams trying new objectives and styles and towards the end of the year it just died out.. hopefully EA can stop focusing on FUT and for one year put the focus back into career mode
They never will. They’ll take career mode out of the game before they do that. Our only hope is Konami putting out a master league for efootball because they don’t make nearly as much money if ultimate team style stuff.
Theres also a bug where when you do a career mode with created players their lips get changed to the default lips no matter what lips you put on them
I’m so tired of the “You recently negotiated a contract with this player” glitch. Hadn’t been able to adjust my 19 year old striker’s contract in about a season and a half. Randomly, another team met his $108,000,000 release clause, and there was nothing I could do about it since I couldn’t renegotiate with him 😅

3.5/5 is looking at the game in isolation which i guess is fine but at this point we can't do that anymore. Looking at the game as a series it has to be given 0/5 cause it's another copy paste for the 10th or so year in a row. Even the menus they bragged about when they said they had updated them, yet it is only the main menu that had this treatment. in Player career mode for instance, i can't be made captain of my team even though i'm 90 overall playing with 68 overalls, so i can't change my teams tactics on the pitch, yet that was a feature more than 10 years ago when we had the playing manager option as a career path. They should never get credit for any work that is a copy paste and even if they added in the old stuff, that would simply just be the least they could do so they need to do that and innovate before we can ever give them credit again.
I bought this game because I'm a sucker and it went on sale pretty soon on the ps store. But the reality is the career mode is abysmal, again. It lacks atmosphere, very lazy to get rid of the pre-match walkouts, the pre-match cutscenes do not make sense - it's basically a preemption of what you're about to playout.
- Board objectives are ridiculous, you could be on course to win a big trophy yet have the board on your back.
- The same bugs with UI, Score counter going weird, my ps5 version sometimes stutters like I'm playing an online game with lag.
- Goalkeepers continue to make stupid saves which make no sense.
- Like you say, transfers can be absolutely nonsensical. Player drop off is the same, some players degrade or retire so quickly and it makes no sense.
- Road to glory games feel pointless, bring back the stadium upgrades like we have in FIFA 09, it makes it feel more realistic and worth pursuing a challenge with a smaller team.
- Commentary continues to feel bland, lack of atmosphere and choices of dialogue that sometimes really do not fit the scenarios playing out on the pitch.
- BIG MATCHES DO NOT FEEL LIKE BIG MATCHES. Crowds chanting just does not get loud enough, FA cup David Vs Goliath matches have no buzz, cup matches, everything this game really does lack what makes football great.
You should be able to have more than 7 players on the bench

legit yes, surely some of the smaller leagues in europe would cost less than a single FUT promo brings in. I even bet there are leagues out there that would be happy to get added for free just for the exposure

i think sth people don’t talk about enough is the repeated faces of generated players. i’m sure making the players have more random hairstyles and skin tones can’t be the hardest thing in the world!

I play career mode where i’m watching from the touchline.. and i’m not allowed to win anything.. i’ve played big clubs, mid clubs and small clubs.. and every single time i find out the game forces even win-draw-lose stats.
Every single season i get 5-5-5 or 10-10-10 (W-D-L)
and win 0 trophies and i’ve tried every tactic with every team and buying decent players yet the scripting just kiiilllss any dreams and if you’re choosing a mid team, you’ll finish mid no matter what. No glory-story or shock relegation battle, just win 1-0 against city and then lose 0-3 to luton.. no win streaks no title charges nothing just mid and boring.
And the sliders only help with goal amount per game.
Bro never touches grass for the sake of us. Respect.

I have noticed that if you’re managing a club that does NOT have a real life stadium in the game, you can “upgrade” your stadium to one of the generic stadiums at the end of the season.
It would be more fun and realistic if based off finances you could add a new stand to the existing stadium and update it gradually as clubs actually do.
The gameplay was terrible and broken until I fixed the sliders. Now it’s more realistic and enjoyable. I’ll continue playing career mode because I want to actually play matches not just watch and react like on Football Manager.
I hate FUT, and FIFA career mode is what I invest my time in if I touch this game. As much as I love that mode, it has went downhill and it is disappointing, EA is getting their money from FUT so they don't give a shit about this mode, won't be surprised if it is removed in the future considering how buggy it already is.
I agree with all you said, but I would also like the women's league playable in career modeive been enjoying player career mode more than manager career mode in fc24
I was doing a career mode on my self and joined man united and got number 7 but mason mount also had it so my player and mason mount has the number 7

People need to stop being so forgiving to ea. removing the ability to fire a coach is not fixing it. Everyone needs to stop giving them money.
Sorry but when I play FM anyway, I just can't justify spending £60 on the game just for Career Mode which is all I've brought the game for in the past.
The game would be better if people had the will power not to buy it for a couple of years! That's the only way we will get the level of progression we deserve within the game! I haven't bought it this year (first time that's happened in decades!). Think I've bought it all the way back to Fifa 97 on the Nintendo 64. I'm not handing EA any more of my money until they improve it. The fate of career mode lies with everyone who buys it every year even if it's still a piece of crap!
