This is exactly what I needed to prevent mistakes and protect my equipment. Thanks for this awesome tip, Armin! 👌

OMG! That was so helpful, thankyou! I make my own leather thumbrings because I like to feel the string more. I shape them as wet veg-tanned leather by pulling back the string repeatedly and then I naturally twist it to form a deeper groove into the lower side of the thumb. I thought i was cheating and doing it wrong but seeing you twist the string is EXACTLY what I've been doing. I find it corrects arrow flight as well. Dunno why.

    That training strap is clever
Thank you again for your offer to send you a bow to test.
I've been tied up with moving house over the last few weeks but I will be focusing on either starting or finishing a bow for you to have a play with
It will be either the 76" yew Yumi you have seen already or a shorter hunting bow version. Maybe in Ash
My bows will be shot with the thumb for the foreseeable future I think.
    Many thanks again

for me and getting into mounted archery I have trouble finding a thumb ring that fits, so using them with their awesome potential

most mounted archers I met so far are using tape or leather, almost no one is using a ring :)

@@ArminHirmer I have done both tape and leather i dont know what it is about it that i dont like other then the fact that I cant not touch my finger and thumb together skin to skin if that makes sense. where as with the ring if im not shooting I can slide the ring around to the top of my thumb

i use crepe bandage tape for padding and a cloth tape over that for a still comfortable but more robust final layer applied directly onto the string.
i wrap that around up to roughly a half inch thickness for all of my bows up to fifty being the heaviest.
ok so i do prefer slavic draw but when i want to use thumb draw i can shoot just as comfortably but without using a ring.
it also provides a great nocking point on the string.

@@RogueArchery sorry no i do not but Mrs Cosmei over in Finland does.
i am not sure they use the same type of tape i do but otherwise it's where i got it from.
the only thing i learned along the way from doing it is to wrap the crepe bandage as tightly as possible otherwise it develops indentations early on and does not last so long.
otherwise the cloth bandage i use is scapa tape or it is also sometimes known as m.o.d. sniper tape here on old blighty.

Armin, I have the AstraShotTrainer and the Accubow2.0. I am practicing with the Ali bow painless shallow hook thumb ring and actually finding it's not shallow enough.
I cannot get it to release by twisting my wrist and also have to press it against my index finger instead of my middle finger. So basically I relax my thumb to release.
Currently I am the most comfortable, simply using just my thumb against my middle finger and index finger locking my thumb.
A word about the Accubow, they designed it wrong! The lower band should be a lot stronger! The designer knows nothing about tiller! As you draw back the top of the bow moves back far more than the bottom and the laser, which is horrible, moves up the wall.
I have attached a Mantis X10 to it, but since it doesn't remain upright when drawn, it's of no use and if the lower band is tightened, to give the right tiller, the steel band retainer would hit the bow. Not recommended.
Can you recommend another shallower thumb ring please? Keep up the good work.

I threw my accusations bow away :) no need to lock the thumb when you twist a little, really easy

For me the Fu Hao ring works better, less stress on my thumb
